- Sun. September 22, 2024 - Sunday morning services led by Pastor Joe Schimmel with worship by the Blessed Hope Chapel Praise Team.
This Sunday morning, Pastor Joe addresses the question of "can a Christian be possessed by a demon?". He gives strong scriptures to emphatically state that a true Christian following Christ cannot be possessed.

Thank you for your commitment to the truth. It’s really blessed me. All Satan can do to us is shoot fiery darts.

I have been conflicted with what a new pastor that leads the church I've enjoyed for 8yrs. I told him that I'm now a Sabbath keeper and that I believe the 4th commandment. He immediately stopped me and said it was "garbage" and was nailed to the cross! Am I wrong to feel he is a false teacher? I haven't been able to go back since. Am I overreacting?
What would you say to Justin Martyr, saying that they gathered on Sundays?
Look into Anabaptist history, it will sow you a more modern context of what the Church looks like.
By all means, have a day of rest.. but Sabbath keeping is not necessary, and there is true heresy in the Hebrew Roots movements- but many sincere seekers who knows there is something missing.
I pray you seek these things out.
When I first converted, I went to Hebrew roots- and did it to see its fruit. I understand the mindset.
I promise it is not the end though, and Sunday is "The Lord's Day" and not just because of Catholics.
I wouldn’t say that it was garbage, but we are not under the Old Covenant and Romans 7 makes it clear that one covenant must be “dead” (in relation to his analogy) before you could be under the New Covenant.
Under the New Covenant, our Sabbath rest is found in Christ alone and not on a specific day of rest. As expressed in Hebrews the 4th chapter.
For we who have believed enter that rest, just as He has said,
“As I swore in My wrath,
They shall not enter My rest,”
although His works were finished from the foundation of the world. For He has said somewhere concerning the seventh day: “And God rested on the seventh day from all His works”; and again in this passage, “They shall not enter My rest.” Therefore, since it remains for some to enter it, and those who formerly had good news preached to them failed to enter because of disobedience,
- Hebrews 4:3-6
Therefore let us be diligent to enter that rest, so that no one will fall, through following the same example of disobedience.
- Hebrews 4:11
Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
- Hebrews 4:14-16
And Paul makes it clear in Colossians 2, that the substance is Christ and the shadow was the sabbath.
Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day- things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ.
- Colossians 2:16-17
Hope that helps!
We are not under the law of Moses. 10 commandments are not part of the law of Christ. Christ did reiterate 9 of the commandments for the New Covenant but we are not under the covenant that requires sabbath obedience. If you feel the need to observe the sabbath because of your ignorance of scripture that's cool just don't expect the rest of the church to follow you.
