I'm looking forward to this series too. I have the 1/72 version and I'm to see keen Rich's finish in particular his colour choices and weathering. Re the JP233 I think it is called a "airfield denial" weapon. Thanks for your content as always.
Hi Richie. Will be following this build with interest. I missed out on this kit when it was first released. I deployed to Tabuk Saudi in October 1990 in preparation for the Gulf War. I was an armourer in the RAF, and we practised loading JP233 and Paveway bombs. Sometimes we had to practise loading while wearing full NBC gear. Not a pleasant experience. Yes, the JP233 was an Airfield attack weapon. The front part held a load of area denial cluster bomb type bomblets. The larger back portion held I think 32 downward firing runway cratering munitions. The reason tons of Tornado's got shot down while dropping JP233 was due to the fact that they had to fly straight and level down the centre of the runway at 250 feet. When the pilot pressed the button to fire the weapon. He had to keep the aircraft straight for 4.5 seconds. That is the time it would take for all the munitions to fire off. That is why so many got shot down. Later on they changed to dropping Paveway bombs.
@@RWHobbies Looked for the Revell 1/48 ones, and most of the later releases are either GR4, F3 or the ASSTA versions. You have to go back to the original 2014 release to get a GR1 IDS. I think that is no longer available. I think I would be better off getting the Revell 1/32 Gulf War Tornado kit. That one is readily available. Something for the future I think.
Hi Richie, you got the seats done before I could say write anything, but if you are fitting ordnance, it will be a plane ready to go. The shoulder straps should be hooked back over in to the rear of the head box. Waist straps should be over the side consoles and the lanyards (never usually added by aftermarket, but I`m not sure about this as I never make anything later than WWII) should be wrapped around the control column/stick for both cockpits. I was XV squadron, but went on multiple detachments with most RAFG squadrons, 617 squadron etc, and we were all trained to that configuration to ease crewing in.
Thanks Mark. Yeah it is a challenging kit and the instructions for the wings suck. I did them backwards and luckily saw a pic online and managed to fix it.
I built that a few years ago. Goes together better than the 1/48. No dramas with the 1/32. Just you can’t use resin exhausts and speed brakes. Both don’t fit.
No, I haven’t. But to be honest I am not really a literature guy. Any book I get sits on shelf gathering dust while I watch UA-cam. I did see his podcast with Ward Carroll.
@@RWHobbies being from Flooreeeda, I can only translate Canuckian 😁. Added that one to my list for truck driving. Ought to be fun about the time I hit Orlando traffic, those alarms going off. Much appreciated. Cheers 🍻
@@crazylocha2515 enjoy! It is a great channel and great to listen to while driving, earlier videos were great, seems like they have run out of some steam the past 12-18 months unfortunately.

Yep, that’s it! Sometimes hard to get my brain in gear and words out of my mouth.

Good info. No worries about missing out. Just get a Revell kit, Quinta cockpit and plenty of decals.

@@Andy.Gledhill.Models. the 1/32 is a much easier kit to build. 1/48 is a pain and full of mis-molds.

Cool info thanks. Unfortunately already built and edited up to 6 parts. 😬 I was 43 and 111 Sqn. Ended up on 216 (TrisStars) 🤘🏻
Hey Richie, great video thanks- Tornado looks great, looking forward to next video.
Thanks, have a great weekend
Love the old schemes on this. Such a lot of aftermarket parts. Be an interesting build. Good luck with it mate..
Thanks, usual crappy Revell kit but it turns out not too shabby in the end.
@@RWHobbies Its alot of work man. You'll pull it off I'm sure
..
Looking good...might be tempted to buildnone of these now...looking forward to next video.
The kit isn’t great. But if you want a 1/48 Tornado it is the best of a bad bunch. New part goes up every other Friday.
Great selection! Looking forward to the wings and such. I have tried to build this as a an early grey/green GR1 and have yet to be successful.

Excited for this build series! Cockpit looking good 👍
A new part every other Friday. Having just edited part 6, the Revell kit does not disappoint in crappiness. 😎
@@RWHobbies I am well versed in Revell flash removal services lol
Ive got the revell 1/32 one in the stash ready to be built one day

Great start Richie! Did you ever read John Nichol's book 'Tornado' ? it's terrific 👍🏼

At 5:50 you mumbled about a podcast. Which one was it? Even the transcript had no idea, LoL.
