Biggest bummer for me is that there's only one biome, I was expecting snow or a desert or even a jungle one as we saw on previous rings,Awesome review as always :)
yeah especially after seeing the reveal trailer. hoping they are released as expansions.
Maybe dlc will present a new biomes but as you put, this is set on one ring.
Yeah same man. I assume they’re saving that stuff for future expansions
They did say this will be the foundation for the next 10 years of Halo stories. I think the name Infinite was supposed to be reflective of that as Zeta Halo will probably open up more as the years go by and they start dropping expansions that take us to different locations like beaches, jungles, deserts, and snow. Could also be why they decided to launch this game without co-op as they probably have a release schedule for a lot of new content that they can't keep putting off.
The game does have a 10 year plan so we might end up seeing more in the future
That ending comment thread was a hilarious addition.
The dude's not the sharpest tool in the shed.
Probably had one blunt too many.
Never been a HALO guy. But after trying out the multiplayer, because it’s free, I fell in love with the gameplay and look forward to getting the chief collection and playing through all the campaigns!
Hell yeah! The series is great halo 4 was alright halo 5 ehhhh the gameplay great
Oh how I envy you, to be able to experience the Halo campaigns for the first time 🥺
Halo: The Master Chief Collection is a good set of games. Halo: CE (Halo 1), looks a bit plain in the opening scenes on the ship, but it picks up a lot from there. Yeah they feel a little stiff compared to new games, but the vibes were almost unmatched. Halo 1 and 2 felt like they were woven from magic. Not sure if that conveys to new players in 2021; I think it might though. The Anniversary Editions of Halo 1 and 2 in Halo: MCC, are excellently remastered.
I got into it with 4. The gameplay is so perfect in these games. I just started playing the campaign for 3 and I instantly see why it's universally considered God tier.
Enjoy
Not having a coop campaign makes me so sad. Halo was always that one game where I stayed up really late trying to beat the campaign with friends. I’m sure I’ll still enjoy it solo, but it’s such a letdown that coop isn’t coming for months.
From what I understand its coming, just post launch.
@@TonyM-zi9rq it was supposed to come in s2 which got delayed for 3 more months
@@TonyM-zi9rq coming in May 2022
Idk how anyone can focus on SP with a coop partner, SP games are meant to be played solo & if there is an option for coop campaign then it should be saved for second playthrough. I personally have had issues with coop partners not shutting the hell up during the important parts in the game lol
@@sagittarius4765 my twin and I have always experienced Halo as a coop experience, and it will be disappointing not having that from the get go. Glad to hear it is coming though. God I miss couch coop days.
Karak is so cool he's on a first name basis with Master Chief
Isn’t everyone though
This reminds of MGS5 heavily. A focused story driven open world with a consistent design philosophy that thrives off of the strength of the gameplay and emergent elements. There is a cohesiveness to the game. People may wish there was more diversity in biomes (myself included) but it seems to work. My one wish is for more upgrades. I love unlocking more tech, perks, armor, weapons, alt fire modes exc. I think they played it overly safe in that respect.
I was thinking the same exact thing. MGS5 vibes for sure.
Looking forward to tomorrow, been kicking butt in multiplayer like 2001, 2004 and 2007 😂
Too bad MGSV wasn't finished. The Afgan Act blew my freaking mind...definitely a masterpiece.
I think arguably their biggest mistake was removing or not implementing weapons for the balance of multiplayer. While we will I'm sure at some point get the OG shotgun and a magnum of some type It's disappointing it wasn't there from the beginning. At the end of the day more weapons in the Campaign is always more fun than simple variants.
Good because MGSV is awesome
Not t launching with coop feels like a slap in the face. I have played every halo the first time with my best friend I am fortunate enough to still be close with 20 years later. We will be waiting for coop to launch someday. And honestly, it sounds like we might get a bigger game since all the biomes were cut.
I'm in the exact same position, I was so excited for this but at this point the only reason I will buy it is for coop
@@revolverswitch yeah, I know. But....I just... can't... No wait... But it's on gamepass, oh damn I'll download and wait for jolly cooperation
I just LOVED the outro part! The typing back and forth was simply brilliant! “343?” - “The Devs” - “I thought bungie made Halo!”
Glad it plays and sounds good. Pity that the story isn't groundbreaking, but here's hoping the "Infinite" part means regular story expansions, that could perhaps evolve the multiplayer experience too. Looking forward to playing later this week :)
Halo has never had a groundbreaking story if we're being fair, it's better than others in the genre but that isn't exactly a high bar.
Halo is like the game version of star wars. Sometimes good sometimes utter crap
@@smarterthanall1659 Halo Hasn't had a good story? are you fucking high lmao, have you seen the writing and story telling in Halo 2...

Digital Foundry: "Once you first take control the game makes a strong first impression, the introduction stage is beautifully designed!"
ACG: "The first 50 minutes are Extremely mediocre, not a stunning beginning!"
hahaha yeah I saw that too. Different strokes I guess.
Perfect example of why people go by metacritic scores alone are the biggest fools in the world.
Digital foundry is very buyable and is not good source for unbiased opinions
@Fitzy I wouldn't know. It's not bad enough that I can tell yet if true. Digital foundry on other hand....
@@MrPowow what? digital foundry seems to be the most honest out of everybody. They even gave microsoft crap about the pointless physical version of the game.
lol. That ending.
Always funny how people can have totally different opinion. You said the 1st impression felt like a big joke and it's mediocre while John Linneman said Infinite make a very strong 1st impression, the introduction stage is beautifully designed. I didn't play yet but from what I've seen I'd agree with John, it really felt OG Halo.
I enjoyed the opening as well. This whole game seems to be an ode to the first Halo.
Omg the ending, had me cackling. I can only imagine how many of those DMs you get per day.
Thanks for the exemplary work, as always! I have never given a dislike, and I never will, because now I can’t.
Yeah... but does MC live?
You can give a dislike though. As of now the video has 95 dislikes.

I'll definitely play this, but only once the co-op comes out. I can wait!
I feel you on that but not sure me and my buddy can wait that long!
Same man imma wait till they add co op
Sadly it’s looking like it’s going to be minimum 4-5 months Based on what the devs said in a prior blog
@@XiLock_Alotx Didn't they say May or something?
I guarantee you won't give a **** anymore by then. Play it now while the hype is on overdrive.
I don't think I had high hopes for compelling single antagonist. When I first saw him in that preview last year, didn't really seem to threatening and it just seems he talked to much. Seems like thats the same deal here more or less. When I think of the enemy in Halo games, I normally think its just the overarching threat thats coming. Not much so the focus on an enemy, but like making sure the Halo Ring doesn't fire, stopping the flood or stopping the covenant. I haven't played the campaign yet, but i hope there some overarching looming threat that has some focus in the story.
That being said, excellent review as always! Can't wait to check out the campaign.
The villain from Halo wars 2 is super interesting and honestly could take on Chief...but this dude is just one of his cronies...I was hoping he would just be a mid game boss ...but I guess not.
Was waiting for this. Awesome review as always. Happy to be a patreon. Cannot wait to get my hands into this. Multiplayer has been an epic experience on Series x. Good to see that the single player does not limit the amount of ammo with spiderman ability.

I cracked a big smile hearing that too 😅 its a shame that nothing really happens in the game either. No variety in scenery :(
Loved the shoutout to Writing On Games - easily one of my favourite gaming review/analysis channels alongside yours :)
I am super hype about this one. Gonna be great! The biggest let down for me is the banishment of couch coop from the last entry and this one too I'm sure. My son and I played through every one of the numbered entries together in MCC and it was some of the best gaming moments of my life. Sharing that awesomeness with the next generation and watching him think it was as awesome as I thought it was so long ago. RIP couch coop.
Playing Halo with your son. That is a lovely thought. Bless you, sir. 👍
shame it sucks
Great review and I might look into getting this at some point. The series lost me after 2 + 3 and I never went back.
That ending was excellent and sums up so many conversations on the net. Appreciate the laughs. :-)
I wished the music got a mention, but I loved the review regardless!
It did on the other review
Despite the crispness of the graphics, it's a shame that the final product doesn't live up to the reveal trailer back in 2018, which to be fair, was just a tech demo of what this engine was apparently capable of. But then we see the 2019 demo and the final version and even those are drastically different with the 2019 version having better lighting, better facial animation, it just looks much much better than the final product. Now I wouldn't say to the degree of a ubisoft downgrade, but it's not where it should be based on what we've seen before.
I think it's a great base from what we're hearing and reading from these reviews. It's a positive sign that the gameplay is so robust and so enjoyable that hopefully things can only get better from here as it does seem like a relatively polished game which we can't say about a lot of games these days.
has to run on original xbone. I imagine we would not be dealing with this if microsoft knew they could get series x's into peoples hands reliably. we arent there yet, might never get there.
@@pentiumradeon That's why you get a PS5 instead, God Of War Ragnarok will be the last cross gen game from Sony, after that it will only be native ps5 games

Appreciate that you even blurred the subtitles to protect from spoilers! You da best!
ACG, just wanted to say that you’ve been my all time favorite game reviewer on UA-cam for years. You’ve never led me astray. Hope you continue to do these videos for years to come.
Always loved when the orchestra kicks in on Halo. Truly made me feel like I was doing something absolutely epic.
I normally start off with normal difficulty to get a feel for the story and enjoy the ride of the game. After completing the campaign, I'll crank the difficulty to legendary to get as much of the achievements I can get.
15:57 was hilarious lol. “Something will happen at some point in the future” lmfao
Your impersonation of the shield recharging was spot on. Bravo Karak
Hey dude I want to thank you for the tireless work that you continue to do. This was a fantastic review and I felt your emotion and excitement. As a content creator as well, II cannot wait to be able to play this game to review it.
i will now leave this on in the background while I look at other screen so i can hear what ya think without spoiling my eyes
Excellent Review! The situational story telling made you FEEEL like 117 !! The way his hand rests on the shoulders of the spartans you find show emotion but doesnt betray his character and seeing how the world tells the story of the marines struggling sometimes winning often losing, and the joy when you save them from an ambush. They allow you to experience the story VS forcing it down your throat and it is GREAT!
That chat at the end is amazing.
To each their own but that opening was epic. Definitely one of the best opening I’ve played in the past few years.
Thank you for the review. I'm excited for the campaign. And hopeful for DLCs to it if that is something 343 would do? For me the missing co-op is the only bummer. Last part of the vid with the messaging had me LOL! 😂
Totally getting dlc
Yet another great vid!!!
Doood, ur conversation at the very end with that "Thunderblunt" guy totally cracked me up!!! THAT was top-tier shiet my man !!!!!
That dude at the end killed me haha. Have enjoyed my time with Infinite multiplayer despite the garbage progression, the gameplay is really solid. Thinking I'm gonna wait to pick this one up to play coop with the homies, but glad you really enjoyed the experience!
I love the single player only campaigns with great story
The story isn’t good, its just there. I had no emotional connection to enemies or allies. Gameplay is fun though
@@Majorblack you already played it?
@@justsomerandomadrian4010 yeah, I like the moment to moment gameplay but good lord the story is on the backdrop. Couldn’t even name a single character and the boss fights are gimmicky. Also I don’t think the sandbox was tuned to know how to deal with the grapple shot although I was playing on heroic.
You will see what I mean once you start playing, I recommend playing it through gamepass, not worth $60, wait for a sale.
@@Majorblack That sucks. Dont why its getting 9 out 10 reviews if the story is lacking like lots of people have mentioned.
you tweaked
I love how the level design looks like we went through a war on the Halo ring. Not just trees and grass.
Another great review, Karak. I'd love to see you review Icarus. It's a new survival game that I've been enjoying over their beta weekends and now the full release.
I've really enjoyed this game. And I agreed at first about the grapple being the best ability, but as I played more I found myself using all the other ones to great affect! You get into this amazing combat loop of abilities mixed in with the different weapons. Just perfect. And it really doesn't get boring, because of the immense variety of the weapons.
The game looks like it pays homage to the original and for me that’s a buy.. Halo 1 and 2 were my absolute favorites and especially certain sections of the original were truly epic battles in a sci fi setting coupled with the hilarious 1 liners.
Your reviews keep getting better and better. Love it man. Be good
USNC 😂😂😂
Love that you kept that tongue slip in final cut :D
Once again amazing review ACG, Keep it up!
If we don't like you?! Impossible! We love you man and thank you for bringing the Halo Infinite coverage. I got my copy preordered from GameStop, my Series X primed, and I pick mine up on Tuesday at 9:00 PM. Let's go...
I would have liked to hear a little about how the game changes being more “open world” this time around but other than that outstanding review as always

Wow. This is probably the first time in the last decade I've been excited for a new Halo game. Feels good, like coming home to an old friend. Sad there's no co-op, sad there's no Xboxes, but glad to know it'll be a fun ride when I can eventually play it.
definitely waiting till local story co-op is added. that's exactly why I completely skipped halo 5.

I disagree about the begging. Seem traditional to start in a ship corridor shooter before opening up the scenery. Makes it so much cooler when you walk into halo.

Best review so far great points for postives and negatives. Just looking at this game I would its not say its amazing like some reviewers.
Thanks for the honest review. Major sites are putting this game at a lower 'score' than 2042 - the loss of co-op sucks, but as a few others have said, here is to hoping they do old school expansions, and when it does come out there is a reason to go back.
As much as i know I am going to miss the Co-Op at launch I enjoy playing solo as, so getting some quality time with the game and then being able to revisit with a friend sounds kind of nice. Would prefer it out the gate but not to beat up about the wait.
Sneaking in a Halo review right after I get off work? Monday is off to a strong start!!
After all the disappointing releases this past year I’m just glad we’re getting a halo that’s fun to play. Big bummer on the co op tho that’s borderline unacceptable from a halo release.
They had to make sure Multiplayer was great first..cause Halo was always Multiplayer first then the campaign 😉
Well done review- always look forward to watching them. Can't wait for this campaign 😀
First playthroughs should always be on heroic, no use banging your head against the wall as you experience the story for the first time.
I don’t know if it was required of you by 343, but good on you for blurring the subtitles - I had the part at 4:14 spoiled by the subtitles earlier today.
Co-op will come. I'm glad they didn't delay the game to wait for co-op to be ready. I'd much prefer to play now knowing the feature and improvements are coming soon.
Better to play solo first time through imo
I was not initially excited for this game after seeing the first trailer at E3 a few years back, but I guess that goes to show you that you shouldn't judge a game too harshly by its trailer. This game looks amazing, and I'm excited to play it soon.
Great review Karak, you're one of the best games reviewers out there and I appreciate it
Always love your videos great job!
So only one major biome ? That's a big bummer for me. I feel like I've seen it all already, and I was really hopeful we would get snow & desert biomes like in the og games at least. Halo always has been about taking you places as well, so It kind of sucks that they missed the point there. :(
Yeah they missed big on quite a few things it seems
Thank you for keeping your reviews honest! Now I'm just trying to decide to buy it now or wait longer so I can play CoOp!
Absolutely thrilled to have gotten a Series X and been playing this mp. Gotta do a Master Chief Collection run first though since I stopped playing Halos after 2 😂
Great review again, Karak. Thank you!
I cannot wait to play this!!
Looks excellent. Can't wait for co-op. This will be both my sons' first Halo experience. Looking forward to tearing through the campaign with them.
I like how 1 minute of this review was just a barrage of total nonsense numbers to explain the lack of co-op. 11.5/7 review, good job.
I tried the multiplayer and just found that I'm burned out of halo and this just felt like Halo 3 again. I just don't care about Master Chief anymore. Let that guy rest on a beach or retire anywhere. Dude deserves it. For me the best in the series was Halo Reach and specifically there were things they did in that title that deserved to be expanded upon. The ship Fights! Sigh...
Does the map only consist of woods with some metal structures sprinkled in between or is there other biomes/ settlements also?
its one biome

Ps...Excellent Review as ALWAYS 💫
How long is campaign? I mean it's full price for a single player only campaign....hopefully it's not 8-10 hours like every other Halo that included co-op and multiplayer in its cost.

A lot of Sony Fans don’t want PS to do a GamePass service because it would keep them from making bangers like they are. So, what I see here is GamePass means quantity for quality.
Thank you ACG for every review you've ever made summarizing which games would be great to play. I am so inspired by you and everyone on this plane of existence.
The moment to moment gameplay looks great and grappling hook is fun. No co-op is a deal breaker. The vehicles feel very bad in multiplayer. Vehicle levels are core to halo. Weapons are also not great in this game, compared to previous games.
Lmfao that bit at the end!
11:20 is the coolest thing I think I saw you do
Loved the ending, 1000/10
Numerical scales break down. I give it 1x10^10 out of 10.
It's funny how you consider the opening 1.5 level to be extremely mediocre, while others actually *love* the opening levels due to the build-up, atmospheric setting, and basically being a 100% tribute to Halo 1 and 2's opening-levels. I think it's mostly fan-service and showing off the improved forerunner architecture (and honestly stunning texture work on those). I'm positive opinions on this section of the game will be 50/50 between both fans and newcomers.
Yeah I've seen most everybody else hated it far worse than me but I did see a couple people who liked it so it's frankly really boring That's the only thing I can say I mean really boring
@@ACGreviews I think I'm going to like it first time around, just because of the atmosphere - but I can already tell from your gameplay and what I've seen that it won't exactly be the most exciting thing to re-play when doing a second or third playthrough haha!

That DM string. Holy lol
Yeah for me honestly, Halo isn't Halo without some tasty coop. It's what always elevated the series to me. Playing with a buddy on a couch, going through the story beats and fighting together. Release pre-winter season without it is a bold move.
the fact that this is open world like far cry and AC is a huge turn off for me. I loved going to different settings and interesting level designs. Now I get to play on one giant samie map. big turn off
Yeah this really did not need an open world open Levals are great. But Just like MGS5 which had no leval vaierty this game suffers the same fate as its just The same locations. And A bunch of filler bad camps.
And many reviewers are saying the gameplay choices in the open world are it's best feature
Mgs 5 wasn't about location it was about the tools given to you and what you did with them creatively at said location. Same for this game.
how can it have no coop???????? seriously??? first time i hear about that... it is SHOCKING! i cannot imagine playing the campaign alone! that was one thing about halo that always made it one of the best experiences ever... i am sad now... really sad... :(

I haven't played a Halo game since like the ODST I think, but I have followed the story up to the point where Cortana went rogue.
