Antique Yale Padlock Picked

- Finally managed to pick open an antique padlock that was gifted to me. I was unsure whether the padlock could even open, but with some WD40 and patience it eventually opened up. It appears that there may be some sort of spool pins, as there are a couple that provide counter rotation.

Yes it is, thanks!
Beauty of a lock! I have one just like it... Treasures! Great picking man!
Yeah it's a fun pick, thanks!
Nicely done👍 Beautiful old Yale, I have a few of these in my collection, tricky picks all. They were very well made, good tolerances.
Yeah I was surprised how difficult it was to get open. Thanks for watching!
nice picking man! must have good tolerances
I have the exact same lock it was my Grandfather’s. I just got into lock picking not too long ago and so hopefully I will be able to pick it soon!!!! Wish me luck!
I used to use WD40 to clean out gunk from the keyways and shackle holes but it leaves a coating on everything it touches. Part of its water repellent feature.
Chris Capune mentioned in one of his videos that he uses lighter fluid. After a discussion with him, I switched to using it too. Just use WD40 now on the shackle holes after they've been cleaned but leave the keyway alone after cleaning with lighter fluid.
That's good to know, thanks for telling me and for watching!
@@kman1759 No worries.
Well done! Have a few of these with 6 pin GC keyway.
Was that 5 pin Y1 or 6 pin Y2 do you by chance know?
Thanks for sharing!
I believe it is a 5 pin just based on feel, but could also easily be missing one in the back
Where did you find this beauty?!
eBay, most likely.
Nice picking! - so this one might be able to be shimmed?
That's a good question, I believe I tried at some point and couldn't get it. I'll be giving it another try now that you mention it
