Shiro has become very expressive after coming across Raya. We hope this time he will be a fun daddo to the potats
He was a fun daddo last time, just not during the first few weeks. Once the potats grow bigger and Suki stops being uber-protective, Shiro feels more comfortable around them. He played a lot with Mashu of the previous litter.

I think Shiro has been friendlier to 2 litter packs over 3, so hopefully he will be patient with these 2.

When shibas tails are unrolled it means they are stressed.. I wish they would separate the other dogs from suki.. she is not happy about it...

HOOMANS if you put up a visual barrier over the fence next to the puppy box it may reduce Suki's anxiety

I don't think this is needed. She has the same reaction to Shiro that she has to Raya. This is a normal canine mother reaction to all members of her pack, when she has new babies. This decreases in time. This reaction is built in to mother dogs. This insures that all members of the pack are respectful of the new babies. This will lead to them helping care for the babies when they are older. Humans are different. They are not pack members. They are Suki's most trusted helpers during her whelping time, and because of this only they are allowed to intervene and touch the puppies. Strange humans would not be allowed to do this at this time. Suki has this Anxiety as you call it, as a natural and normal feelings for the first weeks of the puppies life, and nothing will really help it go away. Taking away her pack members wont help her. Allowing them to all safely live together like the HOOMANs are doing is the best course of action. ;)
@@traceyrossmann2989 i think your reply is 100% correct. As the puppies get older and can do their own thing, her anxiety will decrease and the Raya and Shiro will be a part of the famblee again.

@@mygirldarby all of what you said is true. However during the first few weeks of life, no one is allowed near the new puppies. Not the father, not the siblings. Not even the aunt's. This allows the new mother to birth, and clean, and help the babies stabilize before their eyes open. After the pups are a bit older then the father, the siblings, and aunts are allowed near to help raise them. Before the eyes open the other members will bring the mother food, but they will not get near the babies to deliver it.

Giving birth, constant cleaning and feeding 2 pups does that not to mention the huge Hormone spikes, ( producing milk and protective mode )
You can see she is being taken care of very well. They even help her get in position for feeding, relax her and move the pups around. She even gets a special dog food. She is spoiled if anything ( well deserved ) and treated like a queen.

Years ago, I adopted a pregnant doggo who gave birth to a litter of 10 big pups. Yes, all the feeding, cleaning and mama duties is exhausting, but, once she had weaned her babies ( quite early- she was a strict mama!), she bounced back to full strength so quickly!
Dogs are very efficient parent. Suki will be absolutely fine.

Has Suki always been this aggressively protective or have you noticed an increase? I can't help but think that maybe losing a puppy within this particular litter has heightened her protectiveness?

She's always very overly protective at first. Then she loosens up a bit.

@@ChristineZangari idk..., the way she growled at Shiro even though he was nowhere near them was surprising. I've watched almost all of the births and each video since. In the others Shiro would actually have to be near them (like a possibility of touching them close) to get that kind of response from Suki. Either way none of it is bad, just different. I was wondering if hooman 1 & 2 might've noticed this too cause they're around them all the time and we only get to see video clips.

Well then, if you remember when she had Yori & Mashu, all Shiro had to do was look from afar right after she delivered, & was totally up in arms a lot worse than this.
I've seen all the births too, I think Suki was worse, so far, with V4.0.
Tbh, I think this is a natural instinct for most mother dogs. Part of their job is to protect their pups from all other dogs, whoever they may be.
Years ago, I adopted a pregnant mama dog who gave birth to a litter of 10 . She absolutely would not tolerate my other two dogs ( who she was best friends with) anywhere near her babies until they were weaned and running around.
It’s also, unfortunately, not uncommon to lose a pup at birth, although more so with large litters. Suki is just obeying her instincts.
It's nice to see this family of hoomans, Shiro, Suki, Raya and potats all happy together and devoted to making us all smile. It's a big, wonderful effort. God bless you all and of course everyone in our whole world.

Please stop raya swarming around the cage for just a couple of weeks, if you cant send her to a relatives or friends house for a little while, could ye put a partition across the room at the top of the stairs, she's constantly watching raya, she doesn't relax or ly down closing her eyes much when breast feeding, which i noticed she use to do with other litters, for suki and raya's and puppies sake please separate them, the puppies ar probably picking up on suki's stress too, its horrible at the moment, cant keep watching if suki keeps getting tormented, i find it too disturbing, hope things change for the better regarding the dynamic with the dogs domestically, suki's always on the look out for raya,take raya out of suki's sight for a couple of weeks,stress also ruins vitamins out of your body same with animals even if shes getting vitamins the stress will ruin it out too, and she can become deficient, i cant help but feel concerned for suki and the pups, it nots fair on suki,raya, or the puppies it doesn't need to be that way,
I have a feeling the girl with be the trouble maker of this litter. 😂

I hope eventually when he is allowed to see his babies Shiro still has that curiosity to meet them. He seems to have warmed up to the last litters. Especially Mashu and Yori. I’m sure he’ll be especially pleased since one of his potats is a girl 😂😂😂
