Lzzy has talked about how this collaboration came together in interviews, and it to me makes it just that much more cool. Years ago they were touring with a festival together, and Amy came to Lzzy and asked if it would be ok if she came out and sang harmony on Break In. Lzzy loved the idea and told Amy she could sing lead on it if she wanted, but Amy said it was just one of her favorite songs, and it would make her very happy to do harmony. Apparently the crowd went nuts for it that night at the festival, and it continued. Years later they decided to record this version in the studio together. When they showed up, each expected to do their own vocals and have them mixed together, but their producer said nope, you're just going in there together and going to sing it all the way through. So Amy and Lzzy sat down to decide how they'd put it together, and sang it a cappella, and it just came out naturally. So they went into the studio, did 6 takes all the way through together, and picked the best one. I believe this was their second time through. It's a true performance of the song, with two amazing vocalists and friends, just doing what came totally naturally for them. THAT, to me, is amazing.
Amy is that 'universal' singer who you can pair with just about anyone. Try watching her in the "Speak to Me" video, followed by the "Sweet Sacrifice" video. Extreme opposites, but so damned pleasant to listen to.
The harmonies they hit at 5:35 with "and when the lights come on" always gives me goosebumps. They are such dark-sounding harmonies despite the fact that they are saying the lights are coming on. LYRIC PAINTING....unnnnngh.
Also...if you want another phenominal experience, check out the acoustic live versions of "Dear Daughter" from Lzzy. Especially the one she did randomly at Atlantic Records while there for some private event. ua-cam.com/video/jtqrRSgXBxY/v-deo.html
Halestorm is amazing. We saw them with Evanescence on tour this past February. Absolutely 🔥🔥. Lzzy Hale is a vocal beast and Amy's is ethereal. Together they are truly something special.
You should check some of the latest Evanescence songs, like Wasted On You and Better Without You, one is powerful rock ballad and the other one is her current style which is heavier but also reminiscent of their signature sound
Halestorm definitely has softer style songs, 100%. Lzzy knows how to rock out heavy, but she can also sing beautifully softer. Halestorm definitely did softer songs at the show in NH.
Great reaction! Definitely do more Halestorm. You guys should also check out Dany from The Warning covering this song! It's just her and her acoustic guitar, just awesome.
Lzzy and Amy were touring together. So they decided to do acouple duets. Amy picked this one. The tour collapsed under covid. They went into this studio setup. 6 runs through picked #5 uncut. Like to hear the other 5? I do.
Like this reaction; very well done. Know little of Amy Lee/Halestorm. Like the comparison to Ann Wilson who is someone I listened to growing up and am a real fan. Will certainly want to listen to more of these 2. Thanks.
I know I'm a bit late on this, but I hope you see this. Halestorm has released a BUNCH of covers that show off their range really well, as well as their own stuff. but for a truly stark comparison on Lzzy's range, take a listen to their cover of "All I wanna do is make love to you" by Heart, then listen to their cover of "Ride the Lightning" by Metallica. Both are amazing covers. I saw her do a performance with Sebastien Bach on a revolver golden gods awards show once, where she out-bached the Bach.
Lzzy is pure power live. She had more than enough to make it through the show, but left nothing on the stage, either. I Am the Fire live is almost inspirational. Amy Lee can sing as well, of course, not putting her down in any way. I don't compare the two directly. They're similar, but different.

The reaction of the crowd in the original live video when Amy walked out was so amazing. Chills.

If you haven't seen it, check out the Lindsey Stirling song "Shatter Me", which features Lzzy Hale on vocals. It's pretty amazing.

"She Talks to Angels" Mark Morton ft. Lzzy Hale acoustic
Great reaction. Hope you will check out End of the dream synthesis live dvd version by Evanescence too. Amy Lee's vocals are in another level.
I would love to see Lzzy and Dany perform this song together cuz Dany already did a cover of the song and it is one of her favorite Halestorm songs.
I've seen this video 100 times +
I get goosebumps ((the good kind))
EVERY TIME!! Thank you for this ❤️🤘❤️

We’ve loved The Warning for years! I can’t believe I never caught her signing this!

I’d love to share how much this helped me tonight. Ty

I was getting the chills I got 12 years ago, the first tie I saw it LIVE. You need to listen to The Steeple, Hale Storms new song
Amy Lee n Lindsey Sterling. Shatter Me. A song you should check out.
It’s funny you mention Heart. They did a cover of ‘All I Wanna Do’. Check it out

More Halestorm!
Halestorm has actually covered heart songs
Familiar taste of poison by Halestorm.
