    I scarified last week. Made one pass one direction, cleaned up, and then second pass diagonal. Similar to your video, lots of dead material/thatch came out even the second time. Then, I was wondering how many times we can continue doing this. Your video hints this can be done really several times. Your videos are very informative and educational, thanks!

    Hi Dan, saw your video regarding vrrticutting in summer and the cracking results you get.
    I have been using my Cobra scarifier at its highest setting and it is doing a great job, its not cutting into the earth, just teasing out a lot of brown grass etc
    Lawn is still looking good and its being cut at 20mm due to the odd poana seed heads appearing.
    Really impressed considering the heat and sun

    Picked up a Stirling 43 recently and your videos are incredibly helpful for a novice such as I. I can’t seem to achieve any stripes after 3 cuts so far, using the verticutter cartridge followed by the cylinder at around 20mm. Do you keep the rake on when verticutting? I’m adjusting the height and experimenting with the rake to help lift the couch grasses.

    • @DanielHibbertLawnExpert
      @DanielHibbertLawnExpert  Місяць тому

      My advice is take the dog out for a walk rather than just opening the back door in a morning and letting it wee on the lawn, if you let your dog pee on ur lawn then you have no interest in having a nice lawn which means I’ve no interest in your lawn either unfortunately.

      @@DanielHibbertLawnExpert you’re implying I am lazy and don’t take my dog for walks. Im not referring to just letting them piss in the garden instead of taking them out. I am referring to when on a nice day and you are in the garden enjoying a bbq, the dog inevitably will pee on the grass. Not going to have the dog kept inside because she cannot go to the toilet on the grass lol.

      @@robpullen sorry I know you asked dan but I can tell you things from my experiences, scarification will not do anything to weeds except maybe spread them. If you sprayed a weed killer then let it do it’s job by killing the plant to the root. After a few weeks you can just dig them out, scarification can also bring dormant weed seeds to the top of the soil so if you did have quite a weedy lawn be just be prepared for more. But your got on top of it eventually.
