All right, now I'm doing this. Was looking for jackstand locations because Torsion Bar! Now I'm doing this -- or maybe lowering it. Both. Gotta replace a leafspring anyway.
Yes, I agree! I need to figure out some issues with my Explorer for now so I can drive it when it gets cold here! My ZL1 is horrible in anything other than nice weather, LOL :-/
They came with the truck so I assume as a stock option or something. Shackles are pretty basic design so def possible! I picked up a welder and have been meaning to learn to weld better sometime, lol :D
Thank you! I still need to do a little more trimming for my slightly wider tires as I get a tad bit of rub on hard turns or big dips in the road but overall really like the stance and look!
Very nice! I have the same year as yours, 2000 Ford Explorer but with a 5 Speed Manual, 4.0 (OHV). Same colors as yours too. It’s hard to find anything on these explorers , your video was awesome and is something I’m looking to do! Thanks for the video man.
Thank you! It's been a great truck over the years and I've learned a ton working on it. Right now im in the middle of swapping the harmonic balancer which has been... quite fun, haha. Check out the great resource explorerforum.com as well.
@@D3RPZILLA $100 for my 2004 Ford explorer sport Trac. Load carrier shocks. Almost everyone gets 1 inch lift from the Monroe or the Gabriel. Usually dead on one inch.
@@D3RPZILLA I did the torch off road lift for the sport Trac. I used the one with the add a leaf in the rear and new torsion keys and shocks in the front. That was $200. I'm right at about 0.25 inches higher in the rear , dead level , slight rake... I'm going to add the Gabriel shocks and hopefully I'll be dead on 1 inch of rake or so. Factory rake was 1 to 1.5 inches. Won't hurt to have new rear shocks anyway. So the total kit will wind up being like $300. Not too bad. Should be a full 3 inch lift basically instead of 3 inch level lift when it's all said and done. I'm trying to get the rear spring rate (and really the wheel rate) closer to the front. I did some measurements just by adding weight , watching the drop and then computing the effective spring rate. After the lift , the front rate is way higher. So stiffening the rear will bring them closer. It rides fine , just has a slight lean in the back on turns... As it is right now , the grip is REALLY good. Neutral steer almost. I'm really surprised that I got a pickup truck to neutral steer in 2wd. I'm expecting slight oversteer after stiffening the rear.
Hello! I actually redid all of the interior lighting on the truck years ago but I did do a quick kind of overview video on it with links to most everything that should be able to answer your questions... ua-cam.com/video/t6wd-Lhrhlk/v-deo.html. And yes, the interior lights are all red LEDs. As for the headlights... I retrofitted a projector housing with HIDs. The projector housing utilizes H1 bulbs. I also did a video on the setup... ua-cam.com/video/n4kXGvxxHqs/v-deo.html Let me know if those videos help! :)
No, no wheel spacers. Still have a tiny bit of rubbing on steep declines reversing back or hitting big dips. May do some more grinding or something, lol.
@@sg1893 thank you! They are Cragar wheels.. soft 8s in 16" size. Pretty much oem size that came on the XLT tho I think maybe a tad wider... Can't remember offhand, lol. The tire size is indeed larger and wider a bit.

You can also do Gabriel load shocks in the rear. I'll let you know how it goes soon.
Nice! Sounds good! How much do they run?
