Thank you Tito4re, this is the only casting video I've seen that showed the whole process, wasn't 32 parts, and didn't waste time on pointless tidbits. Thanks for sharing.
I was literally thinking "please cook with it - this video will be complete with a cooked meal" and then you started cooking with it. Definitely pleased.
I like that he cast a skillet to cook an egg, but then ate with his hands. Cast a knife and fork next! Great stuff! Really want to give this a go myself.
That is some dedication to making a pan. Awesome to see it though. Im just getting into castings myself. Maybe one day I can do this. Just think if you did 3 holes perfectly you can make a pan with legs to stand over a campfire and cook right on the fire.
Nice job, looks pretty usable! Here's a couple of thoughts, though: Mold the sprue with the part, not after removing it, that way you avoid messing up the mold. I saw a Romanian dude using wedge-shaped sprues to make his pots, so he'd just hammer them off instead of sawing. You could also place the sprue away from the mold altogether, and connect them with a runner. Molding a pouring cup/funnel makes it easier with aiming the pour. Unless that baby powder is actually just talc, there are better materials to use as parting powder. Graphite powder, for example. Don't go throwing and mixing sand on top of the parting powder all willy-nilly, be more careful with the sand layer immediately after the parting powder and you'll get better results. Make yourself a proper crucible holder, you'll end up getting burnt using just those pliers, not to mention it's not really the safest way to hold a crucible full of molten metal. Hope that helps!
I sure wish you would teach me. I friend asked me to make him a krampus mask this December. I have no idea where to start. I work carving wood masks sculpting them.
Great job! If you will degas your aluminum before you pour it you will get smoother cast less bubbles. Use about a tsp of sodium carbonate forced down in the aluminum.
Good job, in spite of all the "Oh no Aluminum is bad!" nervous Nelly posts. Having, just a few minutes ago, lost a pour when my stainless steel crucible burnt through, I was delighted about how well yours went.
Ok may I give you a little advice about molding? Your method is perfect but the way you press the sand is make it not pressed very good and give you a bad surface on your casting Here's what you should do : Cut a piece of wood about 2 by 2 inches then make one side of wood like a pyramid ( for weight distribution ) after you filled the mold with sand use it instead of that peace of wood you have, simply place the flat side over the sand and hit it with rubber hammer ( coz it suck shocks and distribute weight more evenly) This thing good for 2 reasons First it make the inside of mold welly smooth and second it press it more which make the line between to parts stick better and less aluminum will exist and you'll have better edges . Just don't be afraid of using force, hit it kinda hard but use less force on second mold with that you'll have a perfect flatness between two molds Sry 4 bad English 😅 Love your videos keep it up 😘
+bean eigth dude you just woke me up with this post! Here I am thinking he should not be eating off the thing cause of no telling what else is in the aluminum of the casting. And the aluminum itself is bad enough, heck I been drinking from aluminum cans and such all my life and have symptoms I never could explain. You just might have saved my brain from more damage, thanks for posting!
+Deadly Little Gamer also the amount of aluminium that you would end up ingesting due to using aluminium cookware would probably be very small and completely harmless
All of these techniques are the same as all the other UA-cam foundry channels. The reason Tito is a genius....the knee pad. Ramming that mould probably took over an hour, real time am I right Tito? My knees kill me after long ram ups. I'll be subscribing to this channel now.
While I didn't really like your other casting projects (knife looked a bit like cheap chinese toy, sorry), I think this one is great. Aluminium kitchenware is a thing and skillet you've made can be very useful and durable. I'd also add some heat-isolating handle. Great work.
Nice cast! I want to replicate an old griddle of my mother's. It's aluminium, so I'm hoping it will be like the original. What kind of sand do I need? Is there anything special about it, or anything that needs to be added? Thanks in advance!!
Hi, the sand used is normal construction sand or did you mix any ingredient for casting purpose, what parts of water is needed for getting the right consistency ?
This guy needs the ad revenue from the videos to help pay the hospital bill from the heart attack after eating that egg. Way to much oil, never seen anyone deep fry an egg

+ThatOneHumanMale if it can't than you don't do it at all. Making a aluminum pan is just as good as making a plastic one. It doesn't compare to cast iron
Wow, the casting came out really good (at first I was worried that your green sand doesn't have enough clay or it's too dry, but seemed to be good enough). How about trying plaster next time? It can be used to cast all the nonferrous metals that have a melting point below that of iron and it definitely gives you a better surface finish (MUCH less touch-up is needed afterwards). Oh and BTW you don't need that much oil for the fried eggs. Just a light coating of the pan (which barely covers the whole surface) is enough. ;)
@@jamalking6738 Clay's WAY too much hassle, which I don't even have the right equipment for. Plaster of Paris.....maybe, once I'll have enough time to do it.
I have a quick tip, before you take the cast out of the mold put it in a bin to conserve the sand. I don't blacksmith (yet, hopefully) but I think that would help save sand and money.
Mauro Tamm At that point you may as well poach the egg though. You get a spatula and splash the oil onto the top of the egg and get it slightly crispy on the bottom, it is difficult but flipping the egg is just a cop out
I like the video. hate that you are using it for cooking. It is a health risk using an untreated and unsealed Aluminum surface for cooking. Even more if you cook with acidic foods. As a person that does a lot of casting, I would advise against this. Even just melting the Aluminum can be harmful to your health because of the vapors that the Aluminum makes when melting. I am not saying don't cast Aluminum, just take the proper safety precautions. .

Tito, no one else takes that much time to make a cast so perfectly that you get it right on the first try. Nice Job!
You gotta admire a man who not only can cook eggs, but can make the pan to cook them in.

seasoning the pan... all cast cookware has to be seasoned before use.
You don't season a pan by pouring gallons of oil into it. You lightly coat it, subject it to high temperatures, and then let it cool.
I have a quick tip, before you take the cast out of the mold put it in a bin to conserve the sand. I don't blacksmith (yet, hopefully) but I think that would help save sand and money.
