In this video I am telling you five thing's I hate about our Mahindra tractor; this is not a hate video at all. I'm just showing you five things I would change if I could build my own tractor. hope you enjoy the video thanks for watching.

For a young farmer helping the family I think you make valid points. It would be great to have you sit down with Mahindra Corporate and an engineer and you tell them what you want in a Tractor and then they build it. It would probably be the number one seller. You’re a Great American 🇺🇸 young man.

That emergency brake problem can be a big deal if your working with hilly land. I can see easily some serious accidents happening because of that design flaw. Thanks Ryan for pointing that out.

Mahindra is the largest tractor company in the world based on number of units sold. Been around forever too.
I have two dislikes too . The rear hydraulics on my 5500 4x4 does not have float option . Nice to have while bush hogging .
Also if power steering fluid gets out , low , ect there is no steering . Other tractors can be steered some on theirs .

Here in NZ gas=petrol, a garage (place that sells gas etc) is a Petrol Station and the hood is a bonnet, I think most everyone knows that the gas for your tractor is diesel. I think the English call a truck a lorry. A convenience store here is called a Dairy, I kid you not. How's that for a load colloquialisms? 😝

Not being a farmer or owning a tractor all I can say is you know alot more about them than I do. Gasoline is more refined than Diesel. I always thought they were considered gasoline but I guess not. Anyway interesting video. Keep on filming(Videoing).

Hey Ryan. Yuo, that Mahindra wasn't thought thru enough while in the design process. Those reomote hydraulic valve handles are in the worst possible location. As you may know, I did a lot of research over about two years, before setting my eyes on the LS brand of tractors. No, they aren't an "Off Breed" they just don't have the New Holland stickers on them, nor the NH price tag. I am not a fan of the automotive style parking brake on the LS either. I'm use to jumping off a tractor that has rolled to a stop. LOL My MT3-47 has the hydrostatic transmission, which I chose for doing the forward/backward loader work and for the "creeper" gear speeds when running a roto-tiller. The shuttle shift works well with loader work too and is super handy with a gear transmission, if the tractor is required to do loader work. The fuel tank is in a very awkward location for filling it with fuel. My LS tractor is also slow in filling the tank, however, that is because of an extremely fine filter screen in the filler neck. That said, the Mahindra machines are suppose to be rugged machines. Great video as always. Take Care.

Like you, I've been working with tractors for many years. Most of the time, I do notice a hp drop going from some kind of shuttle or gear transmission to HST. Some customers want all the power they can get. Many others must have a tractor that is easy to use, and manufacturers should consider ease of use in every design. Thanks for the review!

I really don't know that much about the different Model numbers of tractors these days, but the perfect tractor for us, would be one that has about 40 horse power, the quick attach on the front end loader, and maybe not quite as Old. having a tractor with a cab would be nice, but it wouldn't fit in the barn so that wouldn't work for us. What we have is pretty much what we need. Just sometimes the tractor could have a little more power. But it's really not necessary. And as for price, I really don't have a clue. Thanks for watching
That was a great overview of the Mahindra Ryan!! I can see your point on most of it for sure!! We have a Kubota cab Tractor, a 60hp I think at the daily. I absolutely HATE everything about it, most backward tractor I have ever ran!! Question on the shuttle, is it a clutch shuttle, or torque converter style like my industrial Ford? The Kubota is a clutch shuttle, and it's a pain!! Thank you sir, sorry for being late!! Look fwd to seeing what's next!! 😁😁😁

Yes, that's a good idea. I would if it was a bigger problem for us. But around here, if it works half way, it stays that way LoL. Like I said we don't use the lever unless we are splitting wood. So it's not that big of a deal for us. Just kinda annoying is all thanks for watching
A solution to problem #1 would be to put slight bends in the levers to make them more accessible. My tractor controls are laid out the same, but my three-point lift control was too close to the fender and it always rubbed the hide off my knuckles when adjusting the lift a lot. Put some slight bends in all three control levers (3pt lift/draft/rear hydraulics) to position the ends where they were easy to access and didn't skin my knuckles. Heat and beat!
#4 about the hydrostat, you do lose some PTO HP with them, but you gain much more pulling power and much more precision in moving around. Nothing has a lower 'crawler gear' than HST. I agree that tight quarters and frequent direction changes are where HST really outshines all other transmission options.

Great video Ryan explaining some of the negative points about your Mahindra Tractor. Although they say that nothing is ever perfect in life (which is true), I think part of the problem is that like all things in the automotive/truck/bus/AG world, there are differing directions when it comes to design and manufacturing. The wants, the likes and the must haves and then you have the cost. I always remember being at a conference many years ago about engineering practices and one of the speakers was an ex CEO from within the Automotive world who reminded us that you can build a good car the Ford way which was to set your selling price first and then work backwards and see what you could afford to have in the car or you can build a great car the Rolls Royce way, which was you can have anything you want and you pay our price! With Mahindra being Indian and their biggest market being India and China, I am sure its build to a price and everything else comes secondary. As long as the tractor does the job that you want it to do, then that is all that matters, and like most things in life you just learn to adapt to what you have. Would love to know what you like about the tractor too? (Might make an interesting video). Thanks

Hey man, as someone not much older than you. You phrased everything perfectly. things You hate. things You dont like. things You think shouldve been designed a little different. And simply talking ease of use during the review. Im currently looking at mahindra tractors and though many issues you addressed seem to have been fixed with newer models. The review was great. Keep up reviews on different tractors you have access too and if youre into it see if a local dealer will work with you to review newer stuff. I hope you well with the channel! It would be great to see a review of a few in that size range. I know theirs not a lot of good honest tractor reviewiers out there, and there may be a market for it

And yes thanks for that idea! I've thought about doing that, and there has been a few times I could of done more reviews on different tractors that aren't ours, the problem is I would have a really hard time giving my opinion on a tractor without using it for a while first, something about that just don't really seem right to me. And while I do agree that there is a huge opportunity for that kinda thing hear on UA-cam, I really don't know much about tractors in general besides the basics. as usual a good video, i agree with most of your points, i had a 1976 Ford 1000, about the same size as your tractor, it was a three speed manual trans with high, med, low range. the diesel tank was on the firewall under the hood and easy to fill. i like your tractor, but your right a hydrostatic drive would work better for you. and that hydraulic control would drive me absolutely crazy (more so than i normally am). there are always going to be pros and cons to everything have a good night and stay safe

Excellent video as always. I have very little time driving a tractor...ok, basically none. BUT, I agree with you about the hydrolic lever. That would drive me nuts. And I couldn't see a way it could be modified. And the transmission is not ideal due to the tight areas you use the tractor in as you explained. So I guess I would say to get a different tractor. But then again, what do I know. As a famous person once said.."It is what it is." I watch a lot of farming videos and cannot believe the price of the equipment. It's absolutely insane. Thanks, I'm not really sure if there would be a way to modify it or not. The thing is that it works good enough for what we need to do. So Dad isn't going to spend the time, nor the money to try and make it better. Around here, as long as it works half way, that's the way it stays LoL. And the transmission is what it is. Like I said, it has it's place. But for our little. setup, it's not the best. But again, it works. I've come close a couple times buying a new tractor, but there are just too many things I just don't like besides the cost. Especially when you get into something bigger with all the computers and emissions equipment could be a bucket of headaches.

Excellent video! First off - sweet video of you driving way back when. Now, am glad you pointed out the things you'd change. Important info for anyone considering buying a tractor even if it isn't a Mahindra like yours. I think the other information that would also be helpful is what you do like about the tractor. Certainly see you getting a lot of things done with the Mahindra. Had no idea about the shortcomings. Shows how important experience is for operating the machine. A very well done video Ryan! Can't say I've seen many reviews that explain the downsides of a machine so well. Good to know. Thanks! if you could build your own tractor sounds like a great idea for a series.

Well, that's not a bad idea. But I think that you would have to modify a lot more than just the seat. The stearing wheal, the lever to move the bucket so on. it could be done. But for us it's really just not worth it if that makes sense. Thanks so much for the continued support have a good night
I miss our 6060 Alice Chalmers I loved that tractor our other Alice chandlers has not power steering no live pto no rear remotes it’s old don’t no the exact year or model around 35-40hp I would say

Thanks for the walkthrough on your tractor. Some time money is a big factors when buying a tractor. Just one upgrade on tractors could cost $5,000 or more, so we tend to buy what works for us and wont break the bank. Have a blessed week Ryan.

FUEL TANK!!
I have less than 300 hrs on my max 26 mahindra. Ive had hydraulic pump issues, hydraulic steel lines leaking shifter issues, and glow plug issues. Mahindra does not honor their warranty! I fixed the leak myself, the pump is weak and will not lift like it originally did. Had an issues at 50hrs with the loader bolts only on the right side backing out and breaking a couple of pieces of the engine casting. They would not help with anything. Had to buy a special thread tap and repair the bolt holes and replace the bolts myself. Do not buy from Mahindra!

Definitely add loctite to the bolts on the loader. Many complaints about that. Mahindra should have done that upon installation. Thanks again for the video

no 1 its a tym tractor 2 bend the lever 3 take the filter screen out of the tank 4 just put the bucket down i never use the brake anyway and 5 put a cushion on the seat there problems solved dont buy a tractor that has a trans ya dont like!!!
Yeah, I wish it was all that simple. Yeah, bending the lever may work, but that's a pretty thick lever, and wouldn't be easy to do. Taking the filter out of the tank doesn't do anything. And there are tons of situations where putting the bucket down it's an option, we are constantly doing things with are tractor with the bucket in the air and the brake needs to be set. Putting a cushion on the seat would make things way to awkward, these is no way to just make the seat higher, without moving the stearing wheal, and pretty much everything else. And yeah, that's a good point about the trans. But when we were looking for a tractor, Dad went with what was the cheapest, because he had to. And like I said, it's really not the biggest deal, just if I could change the tractor, those are the things I would change.

I have the Mahindra 4540 with backhoe and front loader, it's been a great tractor for me. It get's the big jobs done. It's my best tool.
That doesn't look like the original seat. Original seat didn't have those armrests. That those useless things off. Most of this video is whining. These are durable tractors. That brake set up is not the problem. You are. I have run a lot of tractors in the last 4 decades and I have owned a 4110 for 20 years.

These tractors are terrible I have a mahindra 8090 which blew up with 23 hours I purchased from bigIron auction with 1.5 hours it blew up with 23 hours I bought a new motor and it has been one excuse after the other still no tractor after 5 months, the whole experience has been awful, don’t do it, don’t even look at one or you will be in a situation like mine
