for anyone getting this procedure and is reading this because they’re scared of the anesthesia or the procedure itself please do not be scared! i spent the past 5 days searching the internet and watching multiple youtube videos freaking myself out. today i had the procedure and my anxiety was so high to the point i was feeling physically ill but when it came time to the actual procedure i don’t remember a thing! the IV was the only uncomfortable thing but it wasnt anything unbearable. All of the nurses were so nice, i told the anesthesiologists i had anxiety so she made sure to keep reassuring me i’m safe and sure enough i was! the recovery process took around 2hrs but the anesthesia didn’t make me freak out i was loopy for about 15 minutes after waking up but now i’m just tired and have a little sore throat. So please don’t be scared there’s 5-7 people in the room with you and they all got you. Good luck (:
I am petrified. I’m having mine on the 14th and will be put to sleep, using Propofol. I’ve never had this done or been put to sleep. And yea, that’s what I’m doin now, is watching all the videos I could find lol.
Tyna Marshall dont be scared i was put under the same medication. it’s been about week and a half since then and i’m completely fine minus the sore throat the next morning and passing a lot of gas. this might not be the case for you but since i’ve had my procedure i haven’t been experiencing any acid reflux and they also did not find anything ab normal. you honestly do not remember a thing and the medication is super calming even if you felt like you were having an anxiety your body is so relax you wouldn’t be able to freak yourself out like that.

I'm so glad I saw your post. I am scheduled to have this procedure in less than two weeks. I was supposed to do it three months ago, but I'm so scared of going under. I had a colonoscopy, using the same procedure, and I felt the same way.
I wish my hospital was 20 minutes from my house. The hospitals in my area are terrible. My hospital is 1 1/2 hours away average during the week, 1/2-1 hour away on weekends. Shout out to #CedarsSinai
My god. I never seen such an amazingly positive woman regardless the circumstances she always manages a smile every video. She has such a different way of looking at things and I admire that. Good luck Mary !!!!! Praying for you everyday! Praying for you peter and Oliver !!
The Frey Life omg you’re welcome!!!!! I’ve been following you and many others of the CF community for a LONG time. A couple years now. I grew up in a small town where one person had it. One of my friends. He’s still alive and just started the new drug!!! And he hasn’t needed a transplant yet. I’ve also done so much research on this disease as it really fascinated me in the best in worst ways. Love you guys so much and I’m constantly praying for your little family!!! 💜💜💜💜
I don't have CF but I do suffer from asthma and am susceptible to bronchitis/pnemonia. When you said what a gift it was to have better functioning lungs I seriously teared up.....I understand....and I am Soooooo happy for you!! Thanking the Lord when I see your excitement and progress!!!!
This was night and day different from previous procedures. Just walking in with no coughing.... I just can’t get over how much improvement you have gained.
So glad that everything went well with the endoscopy! I don’t think that one can have too many naps......can one??? Blessings to you, Peter, Ollie, and Harry! 🤗❤️❤️🙏🏼🙏🏼😘🐕🐱
I had this yesterday. It’s all so quick. I got anxious before going in, then next minute I was out like a light as soon as they put the meds in. You don’t even get time to think about it.
Yep had my Endo last week and was so nervous. They reassured me and I felt comfortable. All I remember is them saying ok we are giving you sedation and literally the next minute I woke up. The first thing out of my mouth was “you’re done already?” Had Propofol. Went to sleep quickly and woke up quickly and gentle. So greatful.
I had an upper endoscopy a couple years ago and they put me under for that, and I had the exact same experience as you. I remember them saying they were going to put the drug in and I was immediately unconscious, then I woke up to the nurse asking how I was feeling, and I said "I'd do that again just for fun!" Hahaha. I was feeling pretty good after that procedure. But the next day I felt like I had the flu and my neck was soooo sore. Hopefully that's just a me thing and you don't have to deal with that post-anesthesia reaction!
I'm glad it was easy and it went well. "I Vertex can." Yes you can. Even when the sun isn't shining where I live, seeing the two of you makes it feel like it's shining.
I'm getting an endo tomorrow and I'm so glad I found your channel!! I have EDS with a bunch of comorbidities. I love seeing other spoonies on youtube 😭😍
Drew Harris haha I’ve had that happen to me SO many times! (I have Spina Bifida & hydrocephalus so I’ve had over 100 surgeries since I was born) it’s the craziest feeling ever!
I’m so glad everything went well :) I’m currently suffering with another chest infection and flared asthma so taking antibiotics and steroids again. Praying for good health over Christmas. I hope you, Peter and Ollie are all as healthy and happy as you can be this festive period
Thank you....you girl gave me peace of mind... Tomorrow I'm going to have an upper endoscopy and I didn't know what to expect...you guys are awesome. God bless you with a such nice attitude towards life...I should learn from you. BTW I love your furry babies 🐕🐈⬛
Mary my husband is a diabetic and is a juvenile diabetic but when he was young and he wasn’t really low blood sugars but she still does he’s on an insulin pump but the one time he thought he was an ice cream cone and he was melting. It was so funny I almost couldn’t help the poor guy. I could write a book on the life of low blood sugars and then there are the high blood sugars..... anyway I have 53 years of experience with him. You are doing so good really happy for you! 🙏♥️
The CDC has recalled some bag salads as of yesterday because of e-coli. Check their website and your salads. Gosh after the latest romaine recall and now bags salads--what are we going to do?
I had this done along with a colonoscopy without sedation. I was awake through the whole thing...it was my choice, I did not want to be put under. They did give meds through my iv.. To help keep me calm. But i was wide awake watching it on the tv. No pain, just uncomfortable feelings here and there. If you have experienced the pain of child birth..then this is nothing, you'll be alright!
I had the upper endoscopy a month ago along with a liver biopsy 2 days later but anyways I'll be riding down the highway in NC tomorrow going to see Trans Siberian Orchestra 🎶👍😊
Hi I am having a endoscopy with propofol sedation in the very near future to find out if I am celiac. Have you ever had a endoscopy with propofol? If so can you tell me what it is like? And how safe it is please thank you
It was so AWESOME to hear you sing Getting Dark Again By Buddy MacDonald as that is a song of my area ... Buddy MacDonald is from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia Canada (as am I) and this is a song every one knows ALL the words to ... it’s like mandatory growing up here to know it hehe ❤️❤️❤️
Glad that everything went well. ❤ This reminded me of my procedure I had last Thursday and had to wear the same setup for my cystoscopy for a kidney stone. I wonder what I said after anesthesia. That's always the best 🤣
Glad it all went well I suffer from Gerd Acid reflux gastrointestinal reflux disease and I probably end up getting endoscopy done due to stomach problems and I get alot of acid back up in my throat and mouth from my stomach
oh Bless you Peter, as wait is hard... also, Blessings to all the people that have been called to do this work, also Mary my liver is checked with some weird ultrasound now. It's so, different but no more liver biopsies (I hope?), but the ultrasound kind of hurts (not much but a big blessing to who ever came up with an ultrasound to replace used to be an awful biopsy experience). It does feel like angels here are on Earth also, walking around keeping an eye on our health....just they wear white a lot and wear those crocs.
Glad you're doing so well! If you see this comment I'd love to know if there is a brand of mask that you prefer? I'd thought that you probably just used the masks provided by hospitals but then you said in the video that Peter was going back for a mask and I thought "Oh! She does bring her own!". I'm trying to find a mask that more comfortable for my (smaller) face.
My trips to the hospital is 30 minutes. I know the wait can be harsh. Sorry I have been out for a while. I have been sick back to back the last couple of months so i am getting back up to date with how you guys are doing!
LOL !! The last upper endoscopy that I had, I woke up hearing them talking about a mac and cheese casserole that a fellow staff member had made and I told them the special ingredient to try was mustard! I make Kraft or Stouffer's Mac & cheese!! I went home and googled mac and cheese recipes with mustard and sure enough, they are out there! LOL !! I must have read such a recipe sometime, who knows? That is a definitely "special sauce" they give ya for your "special nap." So glad that all went well with Mary's endoscopy !
You have a very cute personality. I would love the idea of snap open pants. I've worn hospital gowns several times and hated it (especially when I can't wear a bra). Thank you for sharing this, I have an endoscopy in 6 weeks and I'm a little nervous but excited!
So glad your endoscopy went well, I had an upper endoscopy and the sedation didn't work at all, it was NOT NICE! Midazolam doesn't work for me! You are so funny after sedation 🤣 and oh my gosh you are a good singer Mary! Love you guys❤️
I know this is going to sound weird but I love your idea of having like snaps going down your hospital gown I've been getting colonoscopies in endoscopy since I was nine and that idea of having the Snap-on onesie pajamas for scrubs is brilliant. And my favorite thing to do a time I have to get anesthesia for procedure is go home and ReDiscover my bed
I’m having one of these procedures tomorrow and I’m scared to death. I have trouble swallowing, due to an autoimmune disease called Ankylosing spondylitis. Thank you for your video. I’m scared. Right now, I have a nauseous stomach, because I’m having a colonoscopy also. So, I want to thank you again.
Lol, I had a hammertoe surgery 2 1/2 weeks ago. The surgeon did it with a nerve block and light sedation. It was so light, the anesthesiologist near talked my ears off. He was a hoot!!! No nap for me.
Wow, I have advanced liver disease with esophageal varices and stricture in my esophagus (narrowing). I've had a balloon there to make narrowing wider because I was regularly getting food stuck 😑. I've had banding done 4×. I also have portal colopathy and have to have abdominal ultrasound 2× year for cancer screening! Who was your GI in Boston? I have a wonderful GI at MGH BOSTON. Going for a emergency appt tomorrow because I think I have a bleeding ulcer AGAIN. Had one a few years ago and I've been feeling similar pain. I get anesthesia when I have endoscopy also. Since being hospitalized in 2020 with covid 19 my conditions have worsened. Came on you tube to see a endo in action and came across your video. I live 15 mins from Boston. Sounds like you used to live here?
@@butterflygirl01 I felt the same way. The last thing you are gonna know is the IV in your hand and the next thing u know you will be waking up. Make sure someone drives u there. U will be too doped up to drive . I would do it again. I would not eve. Be nervous. But it’s very important u follow the guidelines like not eating or even drinking any water from the previous day. Ifu don’t they will not do the procedure
Hope you guys are doing ok.i have to have egd with bypsy on my liver stomach and my kidneys every every because I had two bleeding ulcer and they did not want stop bleeding so de .16 2015 I had to get half of my stomach out and remove my colon to the new half of my stomach. And I was diagnosed with Gastroparesis. So I get one every year
My brother had that happen he was sick to his stomach and he started throwing up blood it was a nightmare and could’ve gone much differently found out he has non-alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver so I’m glad you’re getting things checked. It was very scary,
Thanks so much for posting this, girl! Very informative. I'm actually getting surgery soon, too. I am wondering if you could explain more about what it was like to get put to sleep? This is the part that freaks me out!! Like, what does it feel like? How do they do it? What does it feel like when they put the stuff in, like do you get sleepy or is more like wide awake to instantly out? Could you have stayed awake if you would have tried or is it impossible? Haha. Basically whatever you remember about that part would be helpful. Thanks so much!
i go for one this thursday September 12th 20204 and ana colonoscopy, will be knocked out and in hospital fro mine due ot my health issues. crossing figures for it to ok. these videos help me relax a bit. thanks
Mary, do you just crack up watching your wake up from anesthesiology??? If we are ever face to face remind me to tell you about my funniest wake up from surgery time - I can't share it here but it is TOO FUNNY!
We’re so thankful ur varices r minimal/stable-wonderful news!! I’m continuing 2 pray-4 stable liver numbers & 4 trikafta 2 B kind 2 ur liver! It’s AWESOME U vertex can bounce back from sedation-in record time!! ❤️🤗🙏
My son has CF. He is desperate for a cat or dog. We've been advised not to have either because they can carry bugs in and around their bodies. What do you think? Thanks. Ps love you guys x
Yep, like now Mary has to be careful and bathe Harry cause of dust and touching the litter box, animals are not 100% germ free but if you put the time and take care of them it will be much better.
So cool I keep finding UA-camrs who are from mass, I'm from the fall river new Bedford area but live in Worcester now, not my favorite but hey it's a place to live🤷🏻♀️🤣 what state are you in now just curious, I wanna leave Massachusetts and go to like south Carolina or something like that.
I’m having an endoscopy (not my first) and a colonoscopy (my first) next week, at the same time. One of my nurses called it “the roto-rooter”. That made me laugh. (I’ve got Lupus, not CF).
Amanda Gray - good luck! I’ve had the double whammy a couple times!! My nurse always said to make sure they do upper before lower.... just to ensure the same scope doesn’t do your butt then your mouth!!!! I had mine done fully awake.... so not cool!! Good luck!
My anesthetic of 'choice' is a propofol cocktail- the white one - and without fail, everytime they give me valium IV then start the propofol. And for that moment I'm just out of it enough to glance at the propofol and go "😱 IM LACTOSE INTOLERANT DONT PUT THAT MILK IN MEEEEE". 😂😂😂😭😭😂😂😂 The surgical staff can always expect a chuckle or two from me
Thumbs up #213 for Peter🙏, Mary🌷, Ollie🐶 boy and Harry! I watched a video yesterday on sphynx cats and learned that you need to bathe them once per week because they dont have hair to soak up skin oils!✌ Love Cindy on the Coast of Oregon.🌴☔
Hi Guys , Mary so glad you did not need a biopsy !! Wow , that was fast , and yeah -- you did seem slightly loopy !! a good thing for what needed to be done !! Now it is behind you , so that is great. Glad you were able to wake up in time to go to bed !! LOL :) , You guys mentioned someone stayed with Ollie & Harry , just curious , can`t Ollie come with you guys to your new hospital ?? Anyway , glad it is only an hour + drive , that must be a welcome change. OK , glad you guys are well , thanks for the vlog , take care , Gary
The thumbnail with the red cap, didn't recognize you! Thought for a brief second either I clicked on a different video OR Peter dyed your hair!! 😄 Glad things went well & the recovery even better!!! 👍 🌼🎄have a great night🌼🎄
I wish I got NS during my endoscope! I do when I get spinal nerve blocks bc I get bad dysautonomia flares lying on my stomach, and it’s always super early and I’m not allowed to drink water in the morning.
Another successful day at the hospital. Thankful for great nurses and doctors!
My sister had a successful day at the hospital yesterday too!! She had the most beautiful baby boy and he’s such an angel and I love him 😇❤️
great anesthesiologist !!!! And you know he/she put in a LOT of years of study and work, LOTS and LOTS! Thankful for him!! Keep that person in your prayers! All that studying paid off.
The Frey Life - Mine was done last March. Like you I’m so grateful for the hospital, doctors and nurses. I’m being monitored for a few remains enlarged lymph nodes in my chest. The thoracic surgeon wasn’t able to do a biopsy. So far so good. You’ll do well Mary.

I had Aldi Smoked salmon and salad for lunch yesterday! Thanks for getting me hooked on that! 😂
Okay, I don't feel as guilty laughing at you now.

I need that kind of magic in my life

Interesting. Red cap is often also used for allergy alert
Chelle Belle yes - that’s what it’s for here. Blue is standard.
Chelle Belle I think she does have some allergies. But a lot of hospitals also use them for pre-op.
Do you think your few days of not feeling well could at all be related to the delay in IVIG?
So glad to see that Mary had such a good recovery yesterday. G-d is indeed great! xxxxxxxxxxx
Watching you come out of anesthesia is a hoot. Glad everything went well with your procedure and enjoy your day 🌸
Haha thanks Susan :)

I had my first one this year and woke up with a terrible asthma cough!
Thanks for sharing! glad all went well for you. I have an endoscopy next month for the first time (trouble swallowing) not looking forward to it..

I'm glad the procedure went smoothly ❤
You guys are too cute, love your energy together, Mary so glad your doing so well, God Bless 🙏🏼❤️😻
God bless you and thank you for sharing your journey! You have a great voice !
So glad your endoscopy went well, I had an upper endoscopy and the sedation didn't work at all, it was NOT NICE! Midazolam doesn't work for me! You are so funny after sedation 🤣 and oh my gosh you are a good singer Mary! Love you guys❤️
I watched you for years. And I am so happy that you are doing better!
Floor it Peter! I wanna hear that V6 Rumble! Just listen to that 3.5 liter v6 scream!
Prayers for you every single day beautiful Mary!
Anesthesia is a weird sensation but it's awesome when you don't have a reaction other than magic
I hear ya! That feeling when it’s administered is priceless!!
@@jeffreyadams207 what does it feel like
Lol, I had a hammertoe surgery 2 1/2 weeks ago. The surgeon did it with a nerve block and light sedation. It was so light, the anesthesiologist near talked my ears off. He was a hoot!!! No nap for me.
Did u have a headache after
Were you fully knocked out or just sedated?
Sounds like you used to live here?
i’m having an endoscopy soon and i’m rly nervous, did u have any trouble falling asleep or staying asleep and do you remember the endoscopy
I’m having one next Monday. I feel the same way
@@Scorned405 how was it
@@butterflygirl01 Was not at all bad. Don’t remember any of it. You will wake up high as hell from the drugs
Drugged Mary is a funny Mary. Glad it went well. 😂😃👋
😂thanks Fralins and Friends!
So glad all went well with your procedure Mary. Great news
Magical nap and magical sauce?🤣🤣
I'm glad the results are good 😀 xxxx
Haven’t watched in a few days but are those new glasses, Mary? They looked different, I like them!
i go for one this thursday September 12th 20204 and ana colonoscopy, will be knocked out and in hospital fro mine due ot my health issues. crossing figures for it to ok. these videos help me relax a bit. thanks
I had a bad experience with my first and last endoscopy, it shut down my respiratory and I stopped breathing, thank God for Narcan
Jesus. How common is something like that.
@@butterflygirl01 don't get the anesthesia.. I did it without it. You literally CAN DO IT WITHOUT IT.
@@trmp9923 yea well not me I’m too nervous
Does Ollie not signal you anymore for low blood sugar?
How did they sedate you without an iv??
Hey Mary, have you ever used a vog mask or something similar?
I want to say she has but I’m not completely sure
They are not the same filtration as the disposable masks they do not protect other CF patients from her bacteria.
Do you think having such a long time in between IVIG is effecting your body.
I had a couple 30 years ago without anesthesia also colon without, and it hurt. I had colon cancer.
Thankful for a successful day. You were rocking that red cap!
Still think Y’all should make stuffed animal Harrys like you have stuffed animal Olivers!
Does your throat hurt at all?!?!
Well that’s quite the experience! Good luck!
I've been behind on your videos. Your a rock star Mary, love you guys
I’m nervous i get hypertensive after Anesthesia and I take a while to wake up
I've had crohns 25 years and I'm 42. I cant count how many times I've had these.
Dreamer : It was better to get some rest for the stitches need to heal.
So Ollie isn't alerting your low blood pressure?
I went to NIH for testing on Monday. Long day and long 11 hour drive.
The thumbnail with the red cap, didn't recognize you! Thought for a brief second either I clicked on a different video OR Peter dyed your hair!! 😄
Glad things went well & the recovery even better!!! 👍
🌼🎄have a great night🌼🎄
Omg gotta love the Frey life
“Peter! A little premature there!” Ugh you guys are so cute
😂😂😂
“I thought I was in recovery.... but before .” Hahah so funny. I’m not nice like that after anesthesia lol
😂😂😂
Ollie didn't alert to your hypoglyc? Like the magic naps!
I wish I got NS during my endoscope! I do when I get spinal nerve blocks bc I get bad dysautonomia flares lying on my stomach, and it’s always super early and I’m not allowed to drink water in the morning.
