This dude-no matter who you are in skating-deserves respect if only for simply speaking his mind (let alone his skating). I think alot of skaters have a "whatever, it's cool, maybe, sort of, kinda" attitude, and thats their gig and that's fine. But this dude has said what he thinks and that is a rarity in skating. And he has killed it for what? 20 years?!?! Super good interview-as they all are-but agreed that it might be the best. Kailis is the fucking man. Bobshirt is the raddest. So good! Thank you.
When Photosynthesis came out, I would watch the whole video, then rewind back to Kalis' part and watch it again. Since then, it has been and always will the the best video part, in my opinion.
Best era of skateboarding ever. I'm 29 now and this just brought the best memories back...lived in south jersey but drove to philly every weekend just hoping I'd see him at love
TheRickyp83 I saw him twice...once at love then once at city hall. I'm the kid in the blue shirt on his cell phone when he does the line at city hall in the dc video...best day of my life haha
yep im 31 and i skated every single day unless it rained in like 99, 2000, 2001. i grw up onnlong island but id take the lirr to nyc to skate on the weekends with my friends
Had the pleasure of meeting Josh at the berrics back in the day, was able to talk to him for a little during batb 6. Hes genuinely one of the coolest dudes on the planet, and still one of my favorite skaters to this day 👌
I became a fan of Josh after reading his pro interview in TWS with Freddy Gall and have been a fan ever since. The style, the trick selection, the Love Park lines, his Sixth Sense part with the Company Flow tune, the clothes/shoes, his down to earth views on skateboarding and the industry....Dyrdek said it in his Epicly Later'd episode, "Josh is still a true skate rat", being a topnotch pro didn't change him. He's just like me and you, but only gifted with an amazing skill on a skateboard i can only dream of. I think that's why he's so loved by many skaters and fellow pros. I had the honour to see his skills when he came to Holland with the DC Super Tour, fuck man, will never forget that.....Fav skater ever!
I'm watching this interview for the 4th time. Like the Pluhowski interview this has a very honest vibe. It's very wonderful to see such honesty and genuineness
Such a dope personality, genuine soul, and just a one of a kind dude. There are not that many pros from his era, nowadays, that are true skate rats and still love skateboarding. Always a blessing to see Josh. 💯🏆🤙🏼
I love how humble josh is, he can barely remember some of the things from his career. I feel like that shows how much he just was in the moment loving skateboarding and not caring about the fame
Grand rapids loves you josh. mad dudes out here every day throw it down in this city skating, graffiti, music, trappin. i know i aint the only one who hits the streets and thinks of GR legends like you and other great local influencers. im gonna meet you one day i just know it.
So sick. Kali's, what a brilliant hour to watch such a legend give the lodown.. . this was the golden days of skateboarding. , Alien workshop, photosynthesis, the graphics, tunes ... My favourite part of skating . I can remember shredding with so much enthusiasm after watching nearly every part , everyday
love these interviews, thanks bobshirt. I'm 40 now and these interviews keep me young from the nostalga of the best era in skating, and hip hop. Kalis is still such a good dude
Worked in a skateshop for 3 yrs. During that period, Seek came and went but one of my favourite boards ever was the Flo Marfaing board they made. It was seriously nice in every way.
Really really Big respeto for Kalis from Gdl Mexico, he represent the best era of skate, the video parts over here create a boom... the music, style damn... I'm 35 and I will start skate again after 8 years I don't F! care, hope DC will bring again the K1 and the Linx!!
Oh shit, Timecode had an insert :D Those songs were so hard to find. Please help me find the Rob Dyrdek song: "Corbix - Blasphemy". I have been looking many years for it..:/ Thanks for the interview!
Didnt know there was this little beef between some of the Alien dudes and Habitat's owner. Always thought they were cool with each other. The more you know, and that is what i love about these interviews. You get to know some behind the scenes, real shit
Brian Wenning aint got sh!t on Kalis. Kalis is a god of urban skateboarding. One of the few pros who gets respect from all types of skateboarders. (Although from the sound of this video, he had beefs pretty often). Kalis is the type that no matter what video he's in, you're sure to check it out just because he's in it. He's the type of pro that always came out with a fun, dope video part that you'd always want to watch again. He's in my top 10 best street skaters of all time.
Can anybody guess what skate shoe "put a skate shop out of business" @41:58 I'm guessing it was the Janoski, because in order to get those shoes, shops were obligated to carry Nike's less desirable shoes.
incredible interview, i can't remember the last time i sat down and watched a full hour of anyone talking - these are so good.
yeah, right. kalis' episode of epicly later'd is also really good.
watch the nine club
mrmirenga yeah watch the nine club, today's episode is Andrew Reynolds!
yep, watch Andrew Reynold's Nine Club episode to be exact. 2 hours of pure gold
Josh is what other pro skaters should be looking up to.Dude is so talented, but humble to a fault, generous, honest and just a true person.
Mad respect for Kalis... I'm 34 now and remember watching him when I was in my early teens. Seems like a cool dude. Really enjoyed this interview.
same im 31 and he was one of my fav skaters back when i was like 13 in the yesr 2000.
I’m turning 34 here towards the end of the year. And I remember the dc days and his last film work with alienworkshop which I still have on dvd.

THE WORKSHOP. So sick. Dill Ave. We're the workshop. HABIBIBTAT.
Company Flow song and Gang Starr song!!
I watched Photosynthesis so much, I had to buy 3 of the tapes cause they would go bad.
Maaaan. As a dude named Josh, I wish I would've copped a couple of these decks.
what is the alternate track used in the premier edit of Photosynthesis?!?!
Can anybody guess what skate shoe "put a skate shop out of business" @41:58 I'm guessing it was the Janoski, because in order to get those shoes, shops were obligated to carry Nike's less desirable shoes.
Cool dude right there!!!! Awesome skater!!!
Kalis forever.......
One Love Kalis!!!
LOve this! steezey! when skateboarding doing halls of fame!
When he was in his prime he held down dude I think it could stand up to the skating today no doubt.
Am I the only one that bugged out at the 3.75 price for the Chicken Teriyaki bowl with a free soup and soda at 3:58???
That would be close to 6.50 in todays money. Which is still a hell of a deal lol.
Dam. I feel like Stevie would've got fucking perfect on og alien. Ugh. Sounds like a dream.
