Neo where I’m at, too 😊 but like you said, 3 most common where you’re at! I find It’s different at every facility (recently started traveling).

I started nursing in the ICU in the late 90’s, when dopamine was the first line choice for a vasopressor. Interestingly, Levophed was a last resort back then; they only started it when nothing else worked and they were already on deaths door.
We actually had a saying if we were assigned to a rare patient on a Levophed drip: “Levophed, leave them dead.”

Epi is not a common pressin. 3 most common is Levo, neo, and vaso. Epi only used of it was successful in resuscitating an arrest pt

    Norepinephrine, vasopressin, phenylephrine
Those are the most common across the board.
Epinephrine is used more in ALS prehospital.

I think this varies hospital to hospital and doctor to doctor (or NP, etc.). I’ve had MDs who prefer to start with Levi and epi, it all just depends on the provider. You can give your educated opinion based on EBP, but my experience has been otherwise.

I’ve seen epi far more than I have neo and that’s on any ICU I’ve ever worked.

What’s the major difference between epi and norepi?

Epinephrine can have stronger effects on the heart and body overall, making it riskier in some cases compared to norepinephrine.

The amount of beta activity. Epi has stronger beta effects
