@@AndyDacoulis Hey Andy:What gauge strings would you suggest on this(i'm buying one),I usually use 10/46s on my Fenders but i was thinking of trying 9s.Thanks.
I've just bought this guitar. Having owned Fender, PRS, Gibson and Ibanez, the session is the most comfortable guitar I've played, I paid £549 uk and I'm blown away. The most expensive guitar I've owned was a Fender Strat American Pro and I can't find any difference between the two that justifies the price difference. The fit, finish and overall quality of the Godin belies it's price point. I'm honestly blown away and plan on getting me a Summit Classic very soon. Godin congratulations you have a customer for life.
Just bought one. Perfectly set up out of the box and can't put it down. Really happy with this, and not just for the price. Thanks for still caring about the guitars you guys make.
Best demo of the new Godin guitars because the person actually uses the various tone/pick up positions. That is a demo, unlike the other model videos, where the pick up selector never moves from the neck position. Good job on this video.
Ok. I went to a guitar shop today to get my first ever Fender Strat. I had $1000 set aside (Canadian) but was willing to go up to $1300 or so. I played three different strats and liked the HSS setup. I then played a few Gibsons but I have owned them before and wanted a change. Then I saw this guitar hanging on the wall. The finish is unreal and really caught my eye. Saw it was a Godin which i've never played. I loved the shape and sat down and played. Holy shit. Instant love. Best feeling neck of any of the guitars I played and the best tone as well. All for less than $600 with a nice gig bag. Congratulations Godin, and made in Canada/USA too. Those pickups are unreal. I won't ever sell this guitar. If you are thinking of buying an electric at least play this. edit: I should say that it needed a setup as I was getting a buzz on the top fret, high e string. Long and Mquad did it included in the price.
That's kinda similar to how I got my first Godin. Was looking at strats mostly, then saw a Godin Freeway classic on sale and my mom said I should try it. Felt great, was less money than the strats, had a nice finish, had a tone I really liked, and even my mom when I started playing slowly looked over at me. She told me out of all the ones I played, that was a head turner. I do have a HH strat now (with Godin pickups in it actually), but the Godin is still my main guitar. I also play through vintage Traynor amps, and I'm Canadian....so it's kinda nice to rep Canada with my guitar and amp.
Good to hear...I had 1400 to put down on an American tele and I walked out with a 600 dollar Exit 22 with a maple neck and fretboard and am still happy with that decision!
No, but I'm thinking of getting one...I've played one, very nice guitar.....I just got a Godin baritone, so now I have an Exit 22, LGXT, Session, Freeway, Multiac ACS, Multiac steel, a Glissentar in addition to all my acoustics and classicals....maybe a Montreal in red with a bigsby......hmmmmmmm

I've had this for a while now. After trying heaps of different guitars I happened to walk past this and it caught my eye. I'd never heard of Godin before. Picked it up and instantly fell in love. Im still very happy with my decision.
Just bought a Godin Session for my son and I’m extremely impressed by the overall quality and sound. Lots of tone and the playability of this thing is awesome. Great job Godin. 👍
I have the LTD model and I can say that the sound captured here is 100% accurate to what the guitar actually sounds like. Even in my shitty amplifier it sounds pretty close to this.
I also own two seagull guitars. I had the sws mahogany dread first and I liked it so much I upgraded to the artist series rosewood and spruce dread. Great great guitars. The artist series is unbelievable. If you are looking for an acoustic seagull is the way to go. What you get in the artist series is the equivalent of a 4000-5000 dollar guitar from the "big" companies. It's every bit as good too. Beautiful guitars in every way.

I can't say enough good things about Godin guitars. A few years back, I wanted to re-live my early garage band years so I bought a used 2010 Session simply because it had all the parts, looked pretty and I could afford it. Stupid reasons, eh? Banged around on that and revived my childhood. After awhile, I wanted to really learn music, so I put down the Session (and my foolish teenage ambitions) and took up Classical. I bought a La Patrie Concert (electric). Year and a half later, I wanted to fool around with conventional acoustic, so I put down the La Patrie and bought a Seagull S6 Dread (electric). Late Pandemic season - It's been years since I touched my Session, so I thought I would learn some Hendrix (because who doesn't want to be God-like). I'm hooked because I while don't have Jimmy's skill, I can create some noise that still sounds ok. Thank goodness for the Godin. After seeing this video, I think I need a compressor. So, it seems I made some good decisions on my guitars. I can't make up my mind about what I want to play, but I know that no matter what I style I choose, I have equipment that won't piss me off. IMO you just can't get a better quality/sound for the money. It all started more or less by accident with the Session.
Man, I gotta say, I changed the pickups in this guitar for Lollar blackfaces and an imperial in the bridge, and with the exception of the humbucker, which was a definite improvement, and I’m starting to think it was a mistake. It’s my favourite guitar out of about a dozen I own (Gibsons, fenders) and these single coils somehow perfectly suit the voice of the guitar
So you think I should leave em them because I was about to take it in and change em all. I’ve only been playing it a day and out of a Katana and finding it hard to get rid of the muddy tone. It’s not terrible by any means but even the tubscreamer isn’t cutting through the mud. Maybe it’s just the amp , I don’t know but any advice would be appreciated.
@@benallmark9671 I would say if you're not happy switch em out man. In my case, I liked the single coils in that guitar cause they did something a little different than my other strats, really round and jazzy tone as opposed to spanky with lots of cut, and the lollars as a replacement just didn't suit that particular guitar fully (sound phenomenonal in the guitar they ended up in tho). I would also replace the pots and capacitor with something else, as atypically, they are both 500 K which is normal to use with humbuckers but not single coils. If you're willing to spend a few bucks rather than the cheapest option try VIPickups 270k pots, they are copies of the ones fender used in guitars back in the day, with the correct value and taper, really well made too. They also sell paper in oil capacitors too (you want 0.47 with strat most likely) which is what was used back in the day but you can get away with an orange drop capacitor or something too. Hope that helps and you get it sounding like you want it to man 🤘
Beautiful guitar and great playing. I really enjoyed listening. Now I have to ask you all one question. Have you ever played Yamaha Pacifica 611 and can you compare it to Godin Session Plus, because I will have to make a decision between these two guitars in the next few months? If you want to know what is the most important element for me, the answer is versatility - the guitar should cover as many genres as possible (from rock to jazz).
I was about to buy a Godin Passion RG3 but they are hollow body! It looks like a solid guitar so i can not stop thinking it will get hit somehow and break. Has anyone tried one of those?
That's a nice guitar played very well. I guess it's a versatile guitar because you can play any genre music on it you want to. I haven't seen the guitar yet that isn't exactly as versatile as this Godin. Any guitar under the sun can be used to play any song ever invented in any country under the sun. So I guess every guitar in the world is that versatile. Under the sun. I have 3 Godins and they are each precious because of their high quality and playability.
pleeease, do a similar video for the summit ct p90, you know, noodling with some cleans, crunchy and dirty tones, with that ambience/room mic'd sound. it´s the better way to have an idea of the guitar´s sound for those who aren´t able to try one in person. I´m in love of the summit p90, but there is no good sound demo out there.
I just trade my LP Studio for one of those ..and I'm not disappointed the neck feel awesome the pick up are good ..little bit more power wouldn't hurt but all said for the price they go for the quality is excellent..highly recomend
I hope there's anyone out there who can help me decide. I'd really appreciate it. I am thinking of getting a Fender Deluxe Stratocaster HSS (Yes.. the one made in Mexico last 2016), but I am having second thoughts because I saw a Godin Session (the blue one. I think that's the LTD edition). Which one should I get? (The reason why these 2 are my reasons is because of the 12" fingerboard radius)
Is there any way to change the floating trem system to a locked trem system? I have trouble bending if I'm playing more than one string...or bending one string while playing an open of another; It detunes the strings too much. Other than that, its a great play!
Sean Kent yes just tighten the screws in the back so that the bridge lays flush on the body. If it still lifts when you bend just tighten them more untill you're satisfied
Can someone explain the tone knob to me. I own one of these and im really impressed, I haven't done anything in terms of set up yet and it feels and plays great
I have three Godins ....session fat strat......Godin freeway......and seagul acoustic , I need nothing else but pedals and a amp. Keep your fenders keep your Gibsons and I'll keep my money for more pedals .
This is the best demo I've heard of this guitar. Excellent Playing! You seem to capture the soul of this Great Guitar! What amp were you using? Were you using any pedals?
Thanks so much for your comments! In this video our player Andy Dacoulis is using a Fender Princeton amp, a Boss compressor and Big Joe Vintage Tube Overdrive pedals.
I've played and owned both the maple and rosewood. I find the natural snap and resonance to the basswood really complimented the rosewood for a more balanced approach.
Facts: ceramic singles, alnico humbucker, I had to replace the floating bridge pivots to get good stability, this guitar weighs more than a standard stratocaster
I don't understand why people are complimenting the clean tone. The "Laurentian Basswood" the guitar body is made from is a cold-weather tonewood. It is very heavy and dense-pored with the result that the guitar is not very airy-sounding (even when single coil pickups are used) or articulate. The stock pickups are not a good fit for this guitar, either, but changing them will not work miracles. And - as far as I know - Godin has now discontinued production of the guitar because it is no longer listed on their website.
Canadian-grown basswood is lighter and less dense than the alder and swamp ash used on most of the Fenders people have a boner on. And yes, the model is still produced as the Session LTD - same guitar except for a Seymour Duncan humbucker and some cosmetic changes (different finish colors and white pearloid pickguard instead of plain white).
The four thumbs down must be from brainwashed 'mericans who think their overpriced Gibson and Fender junk is magically better because of the lettering on the headstock lol!
I've owned both Godins and Fenders. Godin has great build quality for the price point - but poor tone - and that is why I'm not sorry I swapped my Godins for Fenders. Godin has been sticking the same lousy G&B-sourced "GS-series" stock pickups in their guitars since the mid-90s. They used to build guitars with very good tonewood - but they now use lousy "cold-weather" tonewoods that are locally-sourced. And Godin stock guitar hardware is not very good, either.
@@ald7248 not sure what you're on but these guitars are top quality. The basswood they are using is a very heavy and thick wood, closer to the density of mahogany. They are using seemore Duncan in alot of their guitars now and using top quality hardware made in Canada. I've owned every guitar under the sun and you can not best a Godin at their price. To give it such a lousy review makes me assume you really have no understanding of achieving a good tone from your guitars. RIP to your fenders
Huh? I own a Godin and it's nice. My Gibsons are nice too. One doesn't have to suck for the other to be great. And it isn't just Americans who enjoy American made guitars.
Randall Selinger, if it wasn’t for America, Canadadians would be speaking Japanese, German, and/or Russian. Culture and attitude do not stop at an invisible border. Chill out with the America-hate, eh?
I just made a comment about this but yeah, I agree. Went to buy a $1000 Strat and instead got this. Sounded better, played better and was way less money.
😏😏Triste monde !!!! 😭😭

Pleeeeassseeee remake the late 90s g1000 pickups on another 24 fret. That is to date my favorite guitar ever touched
What amp is this on? Sounds great!!
This guy has great fingers man. Great playing. Great guitar!!! My next purchase.
The player is Andy Dacoulis - he is great at what he does!
Very good demo, don't like the Multiac one but this one sound really good. Thanks.
What the the Amp setup?
pleeease, do a similar video for the summit ct p90, you know, noodling with some cleans, crunchy and dirty tones, with that ambience/room mic'd sound. it´s the better way to have an idea of the guitar´s sound for those who aren´t able to try one in person.
These are hard to find at USA dealers or the Progression Plus.
The guitar is assembl3d in the usa but parts are made in canada. So it says made in usa but they're sold in Canada. Check reverb
Can its trem system do the dive thing ?
super compressed. great player but im still left wondering what the guitar actually sounds like.
Have you tried turning up the volume?
Sounds like a vintage strat
I hope there's anyone out there who can help me decide. I'd really appreciate it. I am thinking of getting a Fender Deluxe Stratocaster HSS (Yes.. the one made in Mexico last 2016), but I am having second thoughts because I saw a Godin Session (the blue one. I think that's the LTD edition). Which one should I get? (The reason why these 2 are my reasons is because of the 12" fingerboard radius)
It seems to had a piezo on it.
Better than the American made strat, seriously you have to play one...I now have two!
What is the model name of this guitar?
Is there any way to change the floating trem system to a locked trem system? I have trouble bending if I'm playing more than one string...or bending one string while playing an open of another; It detunes the strings too much. Other than that, its a great play!
Sean Kent yes just tighten the screws in the back so that the bridge lays flush on the body. If it still lifts when you bend just tighten them more untill you're satisfied
Are maple necks gloss at both sides or they are satin? And what frets does these guitars have? Why no this info on the web site?
I would appreciate any recommendation of middle pick up for this guitar that retains the straty tone
It's awesome..!
Which model it is?
Mr. Andy Dacoulis
Spenser !

i have the godin session black burst and i bought 4 times better than fender strat mexico thank godin
Can someone explain the tone knob to me. I own one of these and im really impressed, I haven't done anything in terms of set up yet and it feels and plays great
Hi - are you referring to the push/pull ? When the knob is pushed up, the humbucker gets split into a single coil.
@@AndyDacoulis yes I am. Thanks
What amp setup are you playing this Session through?
Maple vs rosewood for this guitar ?
wme714 i had the same question, wondering how much of that snap is from the maple and what itd sound like rosewood but cant find anything
ua-cam.com/video/G4iAqMF__30/v-deo.html this guy demos a rosewood neck
I've played and owned both the maple and rosewood. I find the natural snap and resonance to the basswood really complimented the rosewood for a more balanced approach.
The name of this color? please!!!
It's Lightburst HG! Link: goo.gl/2tjHFB
I have a session and an empire p-90. No need for any other guitar really. Except for a Montreal premiere maybe... Lol
Facts: ceramic singles, alnico humbucker, I had to replace the floating bridge pivots to get good stability, this guitar weighs more than a standard stratocaster
How do the pickups sound? I've had good reports on general build quality but mixed on the pickups.
@@LeeJCander the humbucker sounds ok, i didn't like these ceramics singles
I have this guitar. They ARE amazing. And not just "for the money"
How is the neck profile on this guitar?
would it sound good for funk?
Mine doesn’t really sound great for funk, but for blues/rock/country it’s great
Excellent build quality, minus the pickups. That humbucker screams country music. Wish I hadn't bought mine. Will either gut it or sell it soon.
Молодой Савик Шустер)))

Sounds like it goes through a hard compressor or so.
Godin Kicks Ass............Way better than Fender, Gibson! Awesome!
@@ald7248 are you drunk the use duncans and various other pickup brands in all models
Randall Selinger, if it wasn’t for America, Canadadians would be speaking Japanese, German, and/or Russian. Culture and attitude do not stop at an invisible border. Chill out with the America-hate, eh?
Why the fuck are these guitars not as popular as the overrated expensive fender Stratocasters?
Could be the design. But that could be only my opinion anyway. That pickguard just doesn't look right, idk.
momentum of tradition I suppose .... still good that Godin is affordable and of good quality so a win for guitar buyers
I just made a comment about this but yeah, I agree. Went to buy a $1000 Strat and instead got this. Sounded better, played better and was way less money.
Who the F is this Guy ?????? Holy shit.

😏😏Triste monde !!!! 😭😭
He's probably using an amp 4 times more expensive than the guitar
Exactly. And they reveal how muddy those pickups are.
Doesn't matter they make great guitars
I have a cheap boss Katana and it sounds great, no joke and if it sounded bad I wouldn't have a problem saying so.
Don't like the pickups? Change them. The base build is what matters here.
cheap Peavey Classic head
So... My Godin doesn't sound anything like this guy's Godin. haha
He's using a compressor. Helps normalize the tone.
about to take a puke...
