CLOWNS, and Finding Inspiration Outside My Wheelhouse

- I have joined a collaboration project with many other fine hobbyists, and we're all painting the same thing: Clowns. Goblin clowns. I have never done this before. How do I decide what to do with something so completely outside my comfort zone?

Clown town has a new liche king!
The popcorn theme is just an absolute chef's kiss. It blew my mind when I saw it for the first time!
Definitely my favourite of the two. That one idea really carried the whole mini.
I really love how the word popcorn turned out - that is some impressive freehand skills there!
Easier to do than it might look. Micron pens are great for outlining, and the rest is just making the letters about the right shape. Give it a try some time, freehand is fun!
danggg those snotling clowns are so cute! great call with the kettle of popcorn, it looks great 🙂
Thanks, Brent! I thought your clownfish were pretty inspired, myself.
Brought me over to your channel and I love the painting
great job as always. Loved the theme. I could've imagined giving the gobblin yellow cloth would've been the icing on the cake
I think yours is my favourite out of all of them! 😇
thanks so much! I'm especially happy with the popcorn cauldron. Funny how things work out sometimes.
That channel art thooough!!! I love how many people are like. I do not paint clowns. However i will paint a clown today
Thanks a ton for getting that done for me. I love how it works here.
Thats SO cool!
Hm I did not get the memo about that collaboration. But that is ok! Loved the video!
It got originally put together last year, in order to give everyone maximum time to prepare, and to account for shipping times. Fiver did all the organising. Glad you liked the video, though!
The theme works strangely well on goblins. Sidenote-are you painting over bare plastic or is it just primed grey?
It's primed grey. I've used Vallejo German Panzer Grey as the base and then done a zenithal of their lighter Grey primer. The Zenithal's not strictly necessary when you use more opaque paints like I tend to, but helps it show up on camera.
No mention of your handsome podcast cohost I see.
It's ok Ghostbear, he didn't mention me, either.
@@Artemis.97 that monster.
Absolutely great! What white did you end up using for the spider cauldron? That was probably the most opaque coat I've ever seen.
It's been a bit, but I'm pretty sure the first coat is Vallejo Game Colour Wolf Grey. I've found very light greys and similar off-whites tend to cover better than pure white, while also leaving space to highlight up from. After that I used Vallejo Model Colour White, which covers much better over a near-white than it would otherwise.
