Kyode I really want to but ever since moving to Florida I work 6 days a week and dont have enough time. I dont even have time to play the game anymore which disapoints me so much :/
MST R Great to hear youre having success with it. These can also work against higher rank players (currently destroyer) but you just have to use them more sparingly as better players know how to get out of them, and know how to punish you for whiffing an unblockable
IE IL IL If i remember correctly, doing sword sweep using FC~b allows for the sword sweep to be faster but has reduced range. Im not sure if this is true however. Maybe you can do a bit of testing of you own to see if doing the sword sweep that way still catches opponents trying to wake up and backdash :))
I've found a pretty good setup for a tec trap which sacrifices little damage for a pretty good payout. Most launchers, take df2 and uf3 as an example, followed by 3~4, cd2, qcf1. It's great and can add extra damage as an alternate to most strings with this specific combo the qcf1 can only get beaten by Chinese get up. If done fast enough it can catch all evasive moves and side rolls. Great in a flash combo, eg, 1+4, d+1+2, 1+2, 3~4, cd2, qcf1.
Zlesto YT the tech trap definitely works! however just trying to find the best way to implement into a df2 combo! Once i figure that out! ill be sure to add it in part 2
noSleep Snowman I try go df1, 3~4, cd2, qcf1. I think you get only a tiny bit of damage over the regular max combo but you can get quite alot more damage if the opponent does an offensive get up or quick stand. I'm sure there's a better combo out there, but usually I think that this Okizeme is best used on infinite stages or as a round ender, since I'd take a wall carry over it any day.
Yeah i was using; 2, 1, 3~4, cd2 S! qcf1 but ill see if just doing the df1 does more damage. And totally right. If you know you can reach the wall with the combo theres no real reason to go for the tech trap as the wall damage and positioning is key. Thanks for the combo suggestions!
Nice work here, didn't know about the suicide one, definitely gonna use it as i love this move lol One thing to say though, i don't think techtraps are just about unblockables. A lot of other options make good traps against techrolls without being unblockable, like ajusting an angle to get at the opponen't back after the techroll... Would be great to see another one about wall techtraps :D
Friendly Koala Thanks for the feedback. I know about jump over tech traps (lars jump over into downjab into ws1 is a common one) and sidestep tech traps (im pretty sure lee has one which enables him to get df3,2,3 in the back or side), however, i havent explored any of these for yoshi and cant think of that may work off the top of my head. When I get more time off ill be sure to head back into the lab to see if i can find some setups.
For any yoshi mains. Do you suggest using the tech traps that don’t involve sword sweep? The ub1+2 qcf+1 and suicide tech traps seem to be the most useful as they beat most things if alt between each other.
MackCasual I only use sword sweep set up when ive noticed the opponent is just mashing on tech roll and/or if i need to make a comeback. Hope that helps!
Hey man, no new videos since season 2 came out? Would be great to see some new tech for yoshi since quite a few combos and a few moves from his kit have changed.
takeOnlyGreatness Ive barely had time to play let alone make videos 😭 i work full time now so its pretty hard. With that being said im going to release a video by sunday and will have more coming really soon!
SPiCY OBGYN in this video and in all my general gameplay I use FC df+1. Doing the sword sweep via the FC~b+1 input does make the sweep quicker but has less range
I have difficulty getting it to come out quickly enough after certain moves Especially the first trap you show in this video Getting the ff3, 4 after the screw is easy but I have trouble timing the sweep properly after
SPiCY OBGYN after inputting f3,4 hold down d/f. as soon as the attacks animation ends, your character will turn around and go into full crouch as fast as possible. timing the sword sweep at that point is just trial and error, youll eventually get used to the timing
I was under the impression that KIN1+2 was safe or +1 but it seems like I always get hit after I do it It happens w fubuki knee as well What's the deal w that?
SPiCY OBGYN both options around -5 if i remember correctly. Regardless the situation is still the same. It takes around 6 frames for your character to beging blocking after holding b from BT. after KIN 1+2 and ff4 any 11 frame move will hit you if you just hold back: However, if you hold d/b you will be able to avoid any highs but it will take around 8 frames for your character to start blocking (avoid highs but 13 frame mids will hit you). So its kind of a mix up
defensive mix up i mean on the yoshi players part. Also dont forget about b+3/4 spins which you are able to do from BT which can avoid a lot of offensive options by sacrificing some of your own health. IMO, the best defensive option after getting either attack blocked it to mix it up between the three defensive options (holding b, holding d/b and evasice spins)
noSleep Snow ok so I'm in practice rn and that's not how you do it consistently Instead, go into med and press back and slide it into db while pressing 1 It's working consistently for me this way
The problem with these is that you are sacrificing a lot of damage for a gamble. After a certain amount of time, people who play vs. Yoshi tend to not techroll because of expecting sword sweep. Can you find setups where the damage is not being sacrificed so much? Also, u/f+3 ender is an obvious tell - it has no place outside of starting the juggles.
Sacrificing guaranteed damage for potential damage is pretty much the whole concept behind tech traps. For example in the first combo, the Bnb combo off hopkick would net you 58 damage, whilst using f3, 4 gets you 51 damage. Thats only 7 damage difference and if the sword sweep hits than you could potentially get more than 100 damage. (uf3 combo using f3, 4 = 51 damage. sword sweep combo = 55 damage) Knowing when to use these set-ups rather than just going for a full combo is something you just have to figure out during the match (life differential, distance from wall, opponents wake up habits, etc) and dealing with opponents not getting up is also another problem entirely.
takeOnlyGreatness it just depends how much you enjoy this game. if youre willing to buy a new console, etc. just to play a larger population than its definitely worth it. pc population is healthy. i always find games pre easily.
noSleep Snow, good to hear it's healthy, even at higher ranks though? I think that's probably the most demoralizing part about the online on xbox is that it's so sparse, you see the same people and because of that it's harder to rank up. PC or PS4 sound the way to go I think, cheers dude
takeOnlyGreatness im in orange ranks now and i always find games within 2 minutes. sometimes i keep finding the same people but i guess cause were the same rank so it makes sense
"I told you to stay on the ground"
LunaroCityGang ahahha pretty much. when they stop tech rolling you can get some pretty good damage on grounded opponents as well :D
Haha
Your channel doesn't get enough recognition.. please keep posting vids.
Kyode I really want to but ever since moving to Florida I work 6 days a week and dont have enough time. I dont even have time to play the game anymore which disapoints me so much :/
Works really great against green ranks, thanks man almost yellow thanks to you
MST R Great to hear youre having success with it. These can also work against higher rank players (currently destroyer) but you just have to use them more sparingly as better players know how to get out of them, and know how to punish you for whiffing an unblockable
When doing a sword sweep I do it by pressing back rather than df I'm sure I can get it to come out quicker. Nice video man thanks

@noSleep Snow Thanks for your video as a fellow Yoshi head this helps alot. Keep doing what you're doing. 😊😊
lamarcus armstrong thanks! ill try and put out better content in the future
Cool, great explanation 👍🏻

I'll test this tomorrow or the day after. I've seen this tech trap before but never really looked into it!

Looking forward to a Tekken 8 version 👀

@NoSleep Snow
Did you also do a few videos to explain how to punish the most dangerous moves? (ex: Paul qcf2)It would certainly be appreciated
DarkLess89X I will
be releasing much more videos next year, but for now, im so busy with work I dont have much time to being playing tekken :'(
@@nosleepsnow3952 I feel you bro 😢
😉👍

noSleep Snow you're right, I wasn't very being patient enough
SPiCY OBGYN yeah you have to wait for yoshi to turn around. if your press it too quickly you will just get a generic down jab
does this still work as of season 3?
Yes, all these tech traps still work in season 3, albeit there are some better ones out there now.

How do I do BT D1 out of MED
SPiCY OBGYN You hit d/f and 1 in the exact same frame. I dont get it so consistsntly to be honest 😅
Oh I was doing it right ty
Didn't realize it was this strict
SPiCY OBGYN yeah i can only do it correctly around 60% of the times i try so i dont really incorporate it into my gameplay 😢
noSleep Snow ok so I'm in practice rn and that's not how you do it consistently

hey dude! unfortunately i just bought tekken 7 on pc so i dont think ill be playing much on xbox anymore :/
