Hey guys, I'm not from Nigeria, but based on history and documentaries, I know they will survive and even make a better country then the Northerners and the Westerners. If only you can look back to what happened to them. After so much lost of lives, properties, infrastructures, businesses and not even food left for them to eat or even have any idea on what to eat, for the days to come, weeks to come or even months to come. They were only given £20.00, each man to his name and family, "just 20 quid to leave with for the rest of their lives." The Government did not return back to the region to rebuild it, but left the mark of a conquered people, in the hearts of the old and the young men and women of that region. 50 years down after the war, they have rebuild their cities and even at the same time developing the so called North and West of the country. so, l say, there is a 100% guaranteed chance that they will do better then the other two regions, if they secede from Nigeria.

As a Yoruba person i see nothing wrong with biafrans wanting their own nation. Nigeria is a colonial creation made up by the British with disregard to ethnicity. Because of colonialism yorubas in benin and togo were separated from yorubas in Nigerians. The british messed west africa up.

If the Igbos decide they no longer want to contribute then they can all go back to Biafra and employ themselves. If for example an Igbo man is a bricklayer, will he employ another bricklayer to do something that he himself can do? Igbo people are playing their part in other parts of the country because it does not pay them to sit in the east. Let those Biafrans go, wise Igbo's will change their name to Yoruba or Hausa names.

Therefore, let Biafrans have their own country in the Eastern Region and Nigeria in the Northern Region as people that have blood shed as tradition and culture.

OyOdiMe Biafrans are not waiting for Nigeria to say yes but probably they are waiting for the Federal Government to declare, implement and follow the normal procedure and give them Biafra. I really do understand where the Igbo’s come from why they want their Biafra. They tried being one Nigeria and they didn’t benefit from it. The promises made to the Eastern Part of Nigeria was not fur filled. Nigeria now was created by the colonisers. Eastern part of Nigeria doesn’t need Nigeria, history shows. They are not asking for war they are asking to be free. The same with Benin State was a great empire before the coloniser came in. The way most go about it is not needed but I understand where they came from.

that was my biggest question would it be a fair country that also takes into account non ibo residents. Efik proper have more connection to our original kingdom centered in modern day Cameroon. ibo is linked to Ibibio. I am not sure if a separate country is advisable if they are not aware and attentive to non ibo South East residents. I would think dealing with "marginalization" as they say would make them more attentive to not marginalize others. Really sounds nice on paper but will be a hot mess when starting well every country/nation is a hawt mess when starting if you ever study American government you'll know America was the most complicated mess to develop.

I think it's great this a great opportunity to discuss what we want as a nation. we can't keep sweeping things under the rug and not facing our problems. US democracy did not come from romanticism their founding fathers actually examined every thing they felt was wrong and right about UK ruling and formed a government based on it. We've issues we have to start address. Law and Government is a written down form of culture but we never had opportunity as a nation to analyze our issues and take into account our different cultures. This a stepping stone to an actual stable nation or divided nation that actually works as a democratic republic.
