  • Tasmania slams the door on influencers. We spent 3 months in Tassie and decided to film. It was a disaster trying to get ‘permission’ so we decided not to film. Then we decided we would so we went through the lengthy (and expensive) process - then when we were there decided not to. Then we did. Then we weren’t sure if we’d edit and share it or not. Last week I decided to just DO IT! So - here is episode 1! Welcome to Devonport. You've just disembarked from the Spirit of Tasmania. Now what? We will show you what we do.
    Check out our previous Tassie caravanning episodes here 😁 TASMANIA

    The only thing that stops Tasmania from floating away is the fact that Victoria sucks !

    I'm pleased that you filmed the memorial for Luke Jacobs.
    My eldest daughter had her first job working in Hungry Jacks in Devonport, Luke was one of her duty managers. My daughter also become very good friends with Luke. I have some stories about Luke.
    I can tell you about how Luke drowned.

    Always love your content so much. You can see your frustration straight away, and having seen previous influencers raise the issue of Tassie and it’s draconian rules on filming, you’re the first influencers I’ve seen actually go through the hassle of getting permits. I’m sure I speak for everyone when we say thank you for going to all of this effort to continue to create such brilliant content.
    As for Tassie, who on earth is coming up with these rules? It’s laid back reputation is diminishing by the day. It’s the only place I’ve yet to visit in Australia, and until they change their attitude and embrace the fact that the world now revolves around social media, I have no intention of going. My state of WA also has spectacular places to see with very few tourists. I’m grateful to live in a state that doesn’t restrict my freedoms this badly. Keep up the brilliant work guys, so wonderful that you get to spend quality time with family 😍

      Thank you so very much! Yes, we couldn’t believe it when we found out what we had to do just to be a let to film and share in my home state! Just madness. Hopefully things will change soon 🙏🏼🙏🏼

      The law is you can film but not make money from your filming on public land. Beaches national parks etc.

    Sounds like a bit of overkill on the restrictions. But I must admit the amount of UA-camrs that blatantly fly their drones in restricted areas is crazy.

    Hi guys any chance of getting an update on the Ogo?
    How’s it holding up and coping with the bad corrugated roads?
    Thanks

    • @AussieDestinationsUnknown
      @AussieDestinationsUnknown  2 місяці тому +1

      We haven’t taken it on any corrugated roads yet hence the reason we haven’t done a review video yet. We like to test things out properly so will do the review after we’ve been in the outback for a month or so - we head off as soon as the new truck is finished - end of May😁👍🏼

    It's ironic that guys like you are the FREE advertising the state receives, and it's probably more effective than the tens of thousands of $$$$ the TAS govt spend TRYING to attract tourists. Their attitude to you (and others) is doing more damage than good. Well done to the newest King of Nanny States - Tasmania.

      Avoid potentially suffering excruciating pains from the king's constabulary applying thumbscrews, a punishment reserved for those who are caught, innocently or intentionally, recording video in this penal colony.

    Isn't filming only restricted for commercial use? Get the permit. If its private property they can prevent you or ask you to stop filming. Its not aimed at jo blo on holiday filming as they arent making money from it😊

  • @MichaelsMusicMix

    Sounds to me like PWS are trying to guard against over-tourism. Influencers who monetise UA-cam will obviously have a large amount of followers, and some are more responsible than others about steering their followers in large numbers towards sensitive unspoiled areas that cant handle it. Charging a license fee you'd hope could maybe weed out the more cowboy influencer element
    None of this is aimed at you guys one bit, and I apologize for playing Devils Advocate, but just trying to see the other side of things. I have family in Tassie too and its seriously Gods country.

    The commercial filming permit is only required in areas controlled by Parks and Wildlife Services, that is our National Parks. The following is directly copied from the website:
    Filming of areas managed by the Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service (PWS) can make a significant contribution towards helping to raise awareness of conservation issues and promoting the appreciation and use of those areas and the PWS objectives. However, there is a need to ensure that the activities do not damage the environment, conflict with the enjoyment of other users, incorrectly present information or show inappropriate activities.
    There is no requirement for permits for filming in other parts of the state, only our beautiful National Parks.

    • @AussieDestinationsUnknown
      @AussieDestinationsUnknown  2 місяці тому +1

      That’s not true - we’ve been dealing directly with PWS and it’s all parks AND crown land as they control that as well. So anywhere that’s not private. Trust us - we spent months dealing with this. 👍🏼

    Put a video out call all influencers to start a class action against national parks and wildlife.
    Their laws are unsubstantiated and not really legal.
    And a civil class action will expose this!
    Wish you all luck.

  • @uareslick
    @uareslick 2 місяці тому +3

    Are you sure that’s true about not being able to film in cities & crown land? What legislation is that?
    I know you need a permit to record on land controlled by parks, but that’s not the whole state

  • @OvataViews
    @OvataViews 2 місяці тому

    Where did you get your information from that you can’t film in Tasmania?
    Any persons that is profiting from filming requires permission to film on reserved land.
    The filming permit is not a new process, do your homework to avoid disappointment.
    Safe to assume the previous film trips to Tassie permission was not sourced.
