Just bought my 3 pieces suits seersucker at Macys by Ralph Lauren. I chased them until they were on sale for $160. I will definitely wear them in the summer and I can't wait.
Picked up a white short sleeve button down seersucker shirt from Barbour and it’s my new favourite casual summer shirt, will be looking for more seersucker for sure.
I'd say another nice hay to wear with seersucker is a Milan straw hat. It has a lot more texture than a panama. Some hat makers can also dye the straw. The only thing is is that I've only found one hat shop in the US (outside of Amish country) that makes them out of the traditional wheat straw. The shop is VS custom hats. I've been to the shop and it is just amazing being able to see everything.
I've always been curious about seersucker suits, but the big issue is that they're not very readily available in Australia unfortunately. I find this quite peculiar because most cities in Australia get quite hot in the summer so seersucker would be quite practical. I might have to look a little harder so I can get myself a seersucker suit by the time our summer comes around. Thanks for the great information.
love all of your videos, and this one in particular...since I am retired & no longer wear suits, have had many and I mean many seersucker shirts in all colors & designs made...my favorite shirt is a popover with half zip, rolled collar & 2 chest packets with buttons...have them embroidered with some sort of crests & my initials in various designs & configurations...they wash beautifully & are perfect for the New York summer hot & humid weather...my nick name is "Mr. Seersucker"....
...I think Haspel makes suits & as I said, I no longer wear suits...but have lots of seersucker shirts made & wear & love them in the hot & humid NY summer weather....
I love Your videos. You were a suit yet you can make it casual enough to were it everywhere. Could you make video about styles that suit Brown or black men ( the color combination , etc ) pleasssseeeee
Good Advice! I picked up one the other day from Tailorbyrd. Not great off the rack but my tailor today said he'll fix it. The coat is quarter lined and is in the plebeian blue/white with notch lapels.
White bucks with the blue and white is classic. I purchased a bespoke tan seersucker suit at Bonham Strand in Hong Kong, which pairs nicely with Mark McNairy dirty bucks. I consider the dirty bucks to be more versatile, as they also look great with a pair of skinny jeans, white Oxford shirt and navy blazer. Makes for a comfortable, good-looking traveling outfit, too!
I wasn't sure how to ask you this, but in the How to Wear Men’s Waistcoats & Odd Vests guide you have 4 pictures of you wearing the same jacket, and I was wondering where you got it from?
Is it appropriate to wear this suit out of season? I live in San Francisco generally it’s not very hot here and it doesn’t snow or get very cold either but I really like these and want to get one but just dont know how practical it would be
Hello, I was wondering if it is acceptable, or traditional, to wear a different color seersucker sport coat with different color seersucker odd trousers? When you wear seersucker pants, and a jacket, must it be a suit? Off topic, but same with tweed.
New subscriber. LOVE your channel. There was something peculiar that I could not figure out until now ... you have a stylish classic taste, an aristocratic creativity to style, and a perceptive eye all of which - and this is what I just realized - you personify your talents because frankly (sorry) your physical appearance ie face/build are rather ordinary or even mundane to below average but your overall look is very classy, sophisticated.
Pls help me. Just my one question. We have received grye fabric with sear sucker efact but we have To do in the dying process so I received fabric after dying without sear sucker efact. So pls help what I do for back to come sear sucker efact in the fabric.
My father had two suits that I thought were seersucker, but they weren’t cotton. Vertical stripes like the seer but was a little heavier and probably polyester as he bought them in the ‘70s. He had a red one and a blue one. The color was deeper and the white was on top. Still curious what that is.
Does anyone have an experience with seersuckers jackers from j.crew and/or j. Crew factory?? Curious if it is worth it considering it would be worn in warmer weather maybe i can get some good longevity from it. Any advice and input is much appreciated
Just a comment in hopes of learning: I was thinking that your deep red-ish tie was a bit too dark to be combined with an iconic summer blazer. Not a criticism, but a curious comment. Can I have a few words on it, Raphael? Wouldn't a lighter color be much more pleasing summer choice?
Bright colourd may not provide enough contrast. He's wearing a knit tie so it has a open weavez allowing the breeze to pass through it. Personally, I think his tie looks rather fetchingz with the two tone effect
Could I wear a wool v neck sweater, navy blazer and seersucker trousers?.Or would it look disarranged like a parka with a snorkel, or a bikini and snow shoes? Since the seer sucker is a summer outfit and a sweater is for cooler weather
Be very careful when buying garments purporting to be made from "seersucker". I recently bought a blue, narrow-stiped "seersucker" jacket and trousers from a well-known online made-to-measure outfit out of China. (Yes, I know it's risky). I chose the featured design because the rest of their range of seersucker fabrics look like pyjamas - with comically-wide stripes. At any rate, I discovered way too late that their "seersucker" fabric was actually made from 97% polyester and 3% spandex. I do not wish to wear garments made from plastic; nor does my pet rabbit. To their credit, the vendor refunded the entire purchase when I complained about sketchy fabric descriptions (even though "seersucker" fabric can in fact lawfully be sold whether it's made from cotton or any other material). Good for them.
I was just thinking that seersucker suits have become to uncommon to be worn. My friend wore one to a garden party and everyone called him an ice cream man. Unfortunately, much like ascots, the seersucker suit has fallen too far out of favor to be worn, unless you are at a specific fashion event. I know that some will disagree, I just don't want people to be fun of. It happened to me when I worn an ascot to a dinner party and I have never worn one since.
I have a seersucker sitting in my closet, never worn, recently bought, waiting for the warm weather to come. It's such a stunning piece. Functional too. If someone asked if I had ice cream, I have "more than just ice cream" ;) Be part of the fun.
Try looking into pincord suits. They're just like seersucker except the stripes are skinny pinstripes. Comes in blue tan grey and navy. They're more dressier.
Just bought my 3 pieces suits seersucker at Macys by Ralph Lauren. I chased them until they were on sale for $160. I will definitely wear them in the summer and I can't wait.
I started working at Brooks Brothers and the seersucker suits are really beautiful. I'm very tempted to buy one!
Go to Stein Mart. $95 for full suit. Save a lot there. On shoes too.
Just bought a seersucker suit in Tokyo yesterday and I absolutely love it!
Perfect 4th of July video. Timely and educational, as always. Thank you Raphael.
Picked up a white short sleeve button down seersucker shirt from Barbour and it’s my new favourite casual summer shirt, will be looking for more seersucker for sure.
Just bought one today. Looking forward to wearing it. Thanks for the help and knowledge.
Well done video and good information. Your videos are much appreciated, Rafael. Thanks for making them.

Good information! Love the backstory on Seersucker fabric.
Woooww... I loved your style of telling information. Absorbed it like a sponge 😊😎
I really appreciate the history lesson. Thank you!
That is a beautiful tie.
the summer jacket is great
4:25:36 Looks like you had a lot of fun during those moments. Very fun and informative video per usual.
Great video once again. First class!

I suggest Ministry of Supply as an alternative perhaps

Nice. I love it.

Was it Alan Flusser? Stein Mart sells them at $95 for both pants and jacket. Great off the rack.
Spectacle shoes would look very nice
Like that, however even in Italy not many gentlemen prefers seersucker. That is in US, really big comfort for a stylish summer outfit.
I would have liked to have seen what type of shoes you were wearing with this.
I second that! Do you wear sandals? Boat shoes are summer shoes if you are near a marina, what is appropriate for a seersucker suit?
Larry Wilcox I think spectators are a good fit
Loafers

@@larrywilcox5282 Blue suede shoes with a blue belt. Try an orange tie.
Peck’s suit came from Haspel in New Orleans as well.
What about linen jackets? How do you pair it with shirts/pants/shoes? Thx
I wasn't sure how to ask you this, but in the How to Wear Men’s Waistcoats & Odd Vests guide you have 4 pictures of you wearing the same jacket, and I was wondering where you got it from?
Works great with a boater hat too
Yes, but be careful not to be confused with an ice-cream vendor. The line is very close.
would you wear a bold bow tie with this?
Is it appropriate to wear this suit out of season? I live in San Francisco generally it’s not very hot here and it doesn’t snow or get very cold either but I really like these and want to get one but just dont know how practical it would be
Seersucker swim trunks ✔️
quick question, have you made a video about hats (dress) and how they should fit?
We will add that to our list :)
I would love to know more about recommended suit/ jacket brands.
Tommy hilfiger

How about cotton pincord suits? You can dress those up or casulize it.

what do you mean white was on top? by the sounds of it, it could have been faux seersucker. cheaper, polysester seersucker
How bout a boater hat with a seer sucker suit?
Exactly what I was thinking.

I didn’t actually notice the fact that Atticus actually wore a seer sucker suit... and I just watched the movie

Warm weather is the season for seersucker and linen suits.

What about a wedding in South Carolina?
I'd say go for it

Is your IQ that low. OMG I feel sorry for you.
I always thought it was pronounced "Sears sucker" and it meant you got a cheap suit from Sears paying more then you should have.
I have have a shirt with this fabric
I see some collar gap. tiny, but It does exist
you look classy as fuck in that jacket!!

could i wear the jacket with khaki chinos?
It's a suit jacket. That means it's part of a suit which includes the pants. So nah.
Yes you can. You wear those jacket with jeans too. They do sell the jacket separate as well.
Does seersucker go with open collar of shirt?
Sabir Peele 👀
'sheer' is Persian-Urdu for 'milk'; 'shakar' is Persian-Urdu for 'sugar' ... in the South Asian Subcontinent.
