  • We wanted to try a new and easy way of removing tree stumps as an alternative to using a stump grinder. This would be helpful if you've got one or two small stumps that need to be removed. You simply carve a small divot or a bowl in the stump and pour in hot charcoal and let it sit for a day. Afterwards, the stump will be dried out and burnt which will allow you to chop away the remaining stump. This is one of the simpler tree stump removal methods.

Watching you dice up that stump so precisely with your saw was strangely satisfying. Good job.

Good job. Nice touch with the Kettle lid. I have one I’m working down, I’ll use that.

I tried the charcoal and it barely phased my stumps. I tried a few times too. I didn't have a lid though, but no rain. Finally it was using chainsaw, dulling chains from hitting dirt, but I'm good a fast sharpening. Anyhow it was cut, slice, chop dig over and over! Will never do again! 65 and disabled now so if I can't afford to have removed, it will stay!! I can rig up yard decor to hide. Lol

I hear you. Really no good way to remove them without having them ground or completely dug out. I burn or cut them myself to save money. Thanks for watching

Well we have property that isn’t a yard so when burning tree limbs or dead wood I just start the pile on top of a stump (not near as short as yours) they all will burn down leaving a crater. Mission accomplished.

I've learned to dig out 6" - 8" deep around the stump, some charcoal, some desiel fuel....... That usually does the trick!!
