Dave, (mate) I was lucky enough to get to see JF and the rest of the band play last night (27 July) in Indiana, US! Had you joining me in mind the entire time! I found it very interesting that at many times throughout the show, his tone was much warmer (think very close to Claptons "fathers eyes") and he was extremely tasteful in his playing, and utilized a lot more space (playing 5 notes instead of 8 or 10). Sadly, I couldn't get anywhere near his rig, but he played tele most of the show. A strat came out for a few, and he even had a very cool gretsch hollowbody for a song or two. Was a wonderful time that I hope you get to experience at some point! Keep up the good work! All the best from Indiana!

this is exactly what ive been looking for! and on a side note, i hope you’re doing well
Absolutely amazing playing as always mr Simpson.
Hope all is well in your world too
keep livin greatly dave through all the ups and downs, you’ve inspired me beyond measure and countless others. You have a beautiful soul, keep creating those beautiful sounds. ❤️❤️
Hi Dave hope your in a better place mate
Sadly not.
Josh Klinghoffer killed somebody while driving
@@RyanREAX wtf
Sounds amazing. Thank you for bringing light even when you're still in the dark
Great stuff Dave! Thanks for sharing
Great sound as always mate
exactly the video I was looking for after picking up an IR-2 a few months ago. thanks dave
Sounds great. Your playing is really the sauce.
Damn man, you're an awesome player, I'm new to your channel after your video about your recent struggle appeared on my feed. I know what you're going through and hope things are improving for you. Life really is worth living for. Peace brother.
Hey Dave saw one of your last vid's , just want you to know I'm with you man. I don't know all that's gone on , but I hate to see you in pain..... As for this pedal I'm really impressed , it's crazy to think of the tones that can be had out of little stomp boxes these days. Also you know something is special when it can live happily with the DS-2!
Thank you.
Love my IR-2. Thanks for this! 🙏
Getting a Boss IR2 is the first challenge!
Thank you Dave
Like your scar tissue esque riff
Just got the pedal, so this video is right on time. Thank you Dave!
Hi mate, I hope you are doing as well as you can atm. Great vid 🤟
Thank you. I’m trying.
As always awesome much love from the USA hope very sincerely you are doing better keep your head up 💪 and PLEASE keep on playing!
Dave, honestly we prefer all your videos 😊 Keep it up! 🤜🏽✊🤛🏼
Pretty much nailed it as always ❤
Good video Super Dave. Appreciate the info and playing take care kemosabe 😊👍✌️🎸
What a fantastic video have a wonderful weekend Dave ❤😊
Fingers crossed you’re getting better!👍
Always wonderful to hear you playing guitar, Dave. I have been on this quest as well with amp simulator pedals. I have found different results by going into the return of the an amp, rather than the front input. Bypassing the preamp section of the amp and solely using the pedal as your new preamp. Keeping the signal chain the same I would be curious if this change anything. Just a thought…I am definitely enjoying the journey can’t wait for pt.2. Thank you
Great video Dave, I actually preferred the first setting, but both were great!
Sending lots of love buddy.
I think no matter what gear and what settings u use, u r always able to sound kinda john ish just because of ur insane playing. u are incredible mate. keep rockin!!
Agree on the Micro Amp point. People are obsessed with buying the pedals John uses without knowing or caring why he uses them. It's a boost, he uses it to boost. It's not the magic Can't-Stop-in-a-box pedal.
Also, in regards to the Major John uses, do you think he was using it as far back as BSSM? He refers to a "bass amp" a few times in Funky Monks, but never specifies the model so it could be a Super Bass & not his Major, which is a Bass head & not the Lead/Pig that Mick Ronson & Ritchie Blackmore were known for.
I think it was a super bass.
I have this pedal its awesome- Great video Dave - as always
Great video! Although the second tone probably sounded better solo in the room, I think the first tone was actually truer to John’s tone.
I would love to see the "sound like" tones you can emulate from the IR2, would make an interesting series.
oi Dave! thanks bro stay safe!
Hello Dave hope all is well…..I was at that gig…queens of the Stone Age with Mark Lanegan… foo fighters support. Red hot chilli peppers headline……great day. Best slane I’ve been to.
I seldom watch videos this long. But dave makes me do 😂🤘 btw surprised how the wah behaved
you nail his sound for me the sounds comes from you your finger ,it kind of a Jimi tone best cannel on the tube .
Thanks
Thank you.
Dave's beard grows fast..........or is it UA-cam magic?😊
hope you’re doing better man
Sadly not but thank you.
Love the Wah!
You couldn’t be more close to or perfect to John Frusciante’ guitar tone ….
I am debating if I should get this and here you are. Idk if it's worth it when I got the boss katan tone studio and Mk2 amp
Great video Dave , great tone and playing. Dave I’m sure you’ve told us many times on here what modal Strat that is you’re playing here but would you be as kind as to tell me again ? Please. I notice the logo is in gold and the only gold fender logo guitar I know of is the ultra.
Its a 2002 60s reissue.
Dave what’s that old marshall amp in the background what is the exact model i remember seing one years ago?
100watt lead combo from 1975.
Hi Dave, when bringing up chorus ensemble the Roland JC-22 popped up in my head. Never tried one, did you try one and if so what's your opinion. Thanks Mike
Not a fan myself.
@@thedavesimpson Thanks Dave for your feedback, much appreciated.
Hi Dave! I got one specific question. How do you “control” the volume of the ds-2 if its all the way up? Im allways worriex to have those big jumps in volume when i try to crank pedals
It won’t jump if you set your amp to be a little bit overdriven. John’s tone is clean.
Dave, you seem to being doing much better. Has everything been resolved and how is Ms. Queenie?
Sadly i’m not. This was filmed a month or so ago when things we’re good.
Nothing has been sorted no.
Sorry, Dave. I only wish the best for you and Queenie as well.
I prefer everything you do on guitar
Dave try adding the CE-1. See what that'll do
YUP ... this is very convincing ...
Me thinks 'bout gettin' this WAH and the IR2 ... where is the budget
hi dave i love you
I think you are there with it. Does John ever use a Rotovibe?
He doesn’t no.
@@thedavesimpson Right, got it. In that case I would add a Rotovibe.
Soooo .... here is THE Fohn F's essentials .... sitting on the fence watching
Why don’t you start a new series “how many tones can you get out of the IR-2”?! ;)
3 things: 1. Hope you're doing well 2. Have you tried the ToneX ONE? 3. What Marshall is that behind you at the foot of the bed?
jcm 6oo
40tay watts iz nioce
I’m not doing great i’m afraid. I haven’t tried the tonex yet no and the marshall is a lead combo from 1975.
Would love to get my hands on an IR-2, but they're like rocking horse poop in the UK right now 😅
I’ve just been bitten by a spider😳
nice!
😎👍👍
