- This episode I'm building a plug for my small sailboat outboard engine well.
Welcome to my boat building channel! MotorCity Boat Werks is about REAL amateur boat restoration and boat building. Every couple of weeks I post a boat building or boat repair video to document various boat projects, sailboat restorations, or boat repairs from my Boat Werks.

For those concerned about the coolant stream filling the well from the outboard motor: there is a thru hull will allows a small hose from the engine. And the engine well is not watertight. Of course the hull edges have already been sealed to protect the core in the engine well hole 🤓
17:08 We’ll done Joe! Love your Gohoist. I discovered them a year ago. Thanks for showing how you went through three versions, and I loved the red ball of rage. It’s all about getting up after being knocked down.
Thanks for the comment David 😁👍
Really enjoy watching your progress…Thanks for sharing
Thank you 👍😁
Nicely done!
Thank you for the comment 😁👍
A good solution. I like your project. 😊😊😊
Thanks Fred 👍😁
I have been really enjoying your channel, finally subscribed! That was a great solution 👌. Are you filming with the pocket 3? If so how do you like it? I love that little sail boat, I'm looking for one myself. Will you be selling it when finished? If so I might wanna wait 😉. Thanks for the videos can't wait for more! ✌️
Lots of work to go 😁 I can’t keep all the boats I work on so be sure to email the Boat Werks to reserve your buy bid. 👍😁
Well done Joe!
Thanks again Joe 😁👍
Like the use of FRP. Curious to see how "well" it works on the water.
Time will tell 😂👍😎thanks Dave
I would have tryed a wer suite with a zipper and rubbeer glue. great job.
🤔 thanks for the comment
Ive only installed frp in my bathroom when i used to own a mobile home

Skipper 20, it looks just like a Flicka.👍⛵️
I think it looks BETTER than a Flicka 20
@@motorcityboatwerks I agree, very salty 👍

What about the coolant flow filling the cavity around the shaft if made water doesn't drain quick enough ?
See the pinned comment 👍😁 Thanks for the your interest
Leave it to a retired Marine to figure it out and, make it run well.
😁👍
Great video and an interesting solution that you came up with however, have you considered how you would deal with a prop fouled with a line or weeds.
An different solution would be to mount a plate that covers the hole completely and cut a large diameter hole in it. This could be flushmounted from the bottom of the hull causing less drag. Then fabricate a flange that mounts directly to the motor that contacts the plate. The motor can be lifted vertically without having to undo any fasteners, giving quick and easy access to the prop additionally the motor would be able to spin for reverse.

Interesting. 🐙 This is a trailerable sailboat 🤓 I would address it the same way I would with an inboard engine. Dive overboard and un-foul it. Or haul the boat out. It is trailerable you know 🤔
Try making your frp panel in two pieces. Cut down the length, overlap and screw
And what would be the purpose of that? 🐙Thanks for the comment 😁
@motorcityboatwerks ease of manufacture and ease of fitment.
