NTA. She left. She abandoned her kid and her family for years even knowing the consequences. She knows how the rest of the family feels about her, you've told her this, so idk why she thought ambushing them would work.
She's not a doctor I'd ever want to see. Doesn't care about others (her own baby son, family, to the point of neglect and abandonment), doesn't take responsibility for her choices/actions. Not someone who would genuinely care about others to help them, or take responsibility if she messed up.
NTA. You should have cut all ties with her. She does not deserve to be part of your life after she abandoned her child. She does not even bother to ask about her kid at all. Dude, I would cut all ties and move on because you are causing tension in your own family. One day they are going to get tired of your being in contact with the woman who abandoned her child and will leave you. Wake up and do the right thing.
As part of the adoption community, and a parent, I've seen lots of sides to these situations. I have to say I don't understand your family's attitude toward Emily. She didn't abort the baby, and she and her boyfriend apparently signed the necessary paperwork to terminate their parental rights and allow the sister to adopt him. Everybody came out ahead. OP, I hope you realize that not everybody got the "mom" gene. Emily did the best she could for her child. Try to imagine her attempting to raise that child, the way she felt about being a mother. Your wife's attitude says she has NOT forgiven Emily. It's time for some family counselling, OP. Sounds like you all need to do some healing.
I don't understand why the daughter has been completely cut off. She didn't go the best way about dealing with the child snd adoption but she also didn't harm the child or stop adoption. It is unfortunate but I don't see what she is being punished for
Not many people take well to people who neglects and abandons their kid. They probably can't fathom how someone studying medicine can do that either. Maybe if she had talked about adoption with her parents and worked through the process instead of just flat out leaving an infant behind, her present circumstances with her family would be different
You don't understand why the parents disowned the daughter, because you probably would have done the same thing as the daughter. Actions have consequences. What kind of a mother abandons her baby? A shit mother, and a shit human being.
Forgiveness doesn't mean that you have to keep the person around who hurt you. You can still love them from a distance. What about the emotional and mental well being of the son when Evelyn starts coming around family? Sure he was adopted within the family but Evelyn didn't do it in way that would foster any relationship with the boy

Well, You cant play the victim if you don't put yourself in a position where you can twist the narrative to your entourage.

Wanna bet it's Mike's doing to make Evelyn left their son bc he also doesn't want to bear the responsibility so he dragged Evelyn along?
Nta

If she truly regretted it, she would have gone to her son first to ask for forgiveness. Not her mother.

Don't kid yourself, she hurt her entire family. Weaponized her child then abandoned him. The layer of wrath for this one.

@@ChrisRittenhouse-t1c How did she weaponise the child?
Also she very much isn't forgiven.. if she isn't allowed to be around or there is any discussion or healing.
Your wife is very strange

@jezeannwilliams1145 depends on your definition of forgiveness... it seems to mean nothing as a word if the relationship does not repair
@@NM-ub6ml if you forgive someone for breaking something you were overly attached to on purpose mind you would you still want to be around that person
