- BMW E36 door panel repair DIY, in this video I repair my brothers BMW door panel that has fallen into disrepair.
This is a common problem with e36's. The vinyl typically separates from the door panel and bubbles up, and the plastic support pieces break apart.
I do not go the extra mile and repair the vinyl, as this requires a heat gun, and a special adhesive. I simply pull the panel off, glue back down the plastic brackets, and then replace the clips that hold the door panel to the frame.
BMW e36 door panel repair is a relatively quick and simple process. Unfortunately if your door panel plastic pieces are completely broken you will have to order new ones.
bro, i really appreciate your videos.i just got my first bmw .its a 97 318i e36 m42 and ive had to go through almost the entire car to get it right and i owe the success of my repairs to you.. thank you so much !
Great video- same issue on my 1995 325i. Perfect steps to follow and you made it easy. Thank you!
Awesome video, keep em coming.
If you have any tricks to keep the convertible top in good mechanical shape, a video on that would be appreciated.
AustiNole I really wish I had begun doing these when I was repairing my top, I had an arm attached to mechanism in the top cover that completely rusted off, I ended up replacing it and the top worked just fine afterwards.
Lol the dude in the back. Great video and thank you for the help
Good video. I found replacement cards for a good price. I'll get to ordering in weld and new clips.
Bien echo....pero la próxima vez...no lo hagas encima del maletero..😂😂
Thank you, but the video is incomplete if the name of the adhesive is not presented.
Great instructional video Steven & will be a great help in my DIY door panel fix on my 1994 325iC. Gave me a lot of confidence in trying it. Have just a couple of questions that you did not cover & that is how to remove the side mirror control.& do I just glue the outer panel (white color) on your video. That is my problem, that is separating. I’m thinking of using a Loctite Premium 3X. Would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks again.
Great video appreciate it had a question in reference to the bubbling and the peeling of the vinyl I notice it shrinks a little bit is there any way it could be stretched back in place once you try repairing it
Great tipoff to buy a T20 torque socket get some 2 part glue I have clips on the way soon I will have some nice doors again oh and fix the pesky electric window.
Great video help me a lot with the door panel on 99 328i convertible which had the exact problem. I have a question you may be able to answer. The back seat bench leather has a big rip and I found a 2002 M series a guy is parting out, do you know if this seat will fit my car? I appreciate any help or information. Thanks Jim
Can you do a video on a stuck door my 1997 318i back door on the driver side won't open and a video on the future how to test bad relays
Struggling to get those old clips out
Hey Steven, which glue did you use for adhering the plastics onto the panel? Thx
Which door panel clips do you buy?
Where did u order the panel clips?
Ebay, got a large pack of them for like five bucks.
Are you from WIlmington?
Baikenz went to school there
The upper plastic part of my doors came completely out of the door panel.
Any suggestion to align them so I can glue in place?
Cheers from Brazil.
Are they broken into pieces or die they just come off? The ones on my brothers cars broke into pieces. If you still have the whole thing I believe the top is like the side pieces in that it only fits into the grooves a certain way.
The plastic just came loose from the door panel.
I`ll try something soon.
tks man.
How do you remove the covers from the back speakers on the convertible ? I see this car has them off.
Todd Bahrs it's really quick to do actually, they have tabs that slide in and out like the door handle. They are known to crack overtime however and I've seen people super glue them before.
My door handle just fell off
I mean panel
bro your so country i love it lmao
