A quick look back at a few more characters from my account on live, including the first ever character that was created on it. More P99 Videos coming soon! Stay Tuned.
I made my first character sometime in july but deleted them, My current main was made July 11 2001, so we started around the same time. I stopped and started Eq a few times over the years but always come back, but I prefer live. The annoyances I could live with 17 years ago I can't put up with these days. I do wish they hadn't remade the old zones though, i logged into p99 a while ago just to experience the original zones like commonlands again.
Yep, WoW was no joke when it launched. If you go back in time and go to literally any online game chatroom, server or forum, literally *everyone* will be talking about WoW! Words fail me to describe the sheer magnitude of WoW's influence on gaming back then.
Yeah towards the end of my EQ career I started to get into PvP. So when I tried WoW for the first time I was pretty pissed I put so much time into EQ when I could of had a badass WoW character just slaughtering people in PvP haha
Where EQ messed up was trying to release EQ2 as a stand-alone sequel to compete with WoW instead of making it a continuation of EQ1. If they had made it where you could port your character’s equipment and AA to your new EQ2 character and slowly be able to access / unlock the items transferred as you leveled in EQ2: A lot more people would have preferred to transfer and keep most of the hard work / effort / lore in EQ2 than start completely all over again with WoW; and have the same upgrade that WoW was in graphics, interface, and QoL updates.
I always wanted the SoD, sceptre of destruction, warder drop in Sleepers. But i played on Lanys and Soul Assassins, eventually became Conquest and were all banned for waking the sleeper before it was to be engaged and they had an exploit. There is a video somewhere. Conquest sleeper. Once all waders were dead they never spawned again. :( Thanks for the memories.
I was the opposite when I was young. I felt like dedicating time into alt characters would take away from my main. So I had a badass raid geared druid with tons of badass clickies and all the cool shit with 1000AA but then never got an alt character past like 25 lol
There is so much nostalgia, present EQ as I understand it is very streamlined and empty on live. They should do a part 3 with new engine and new classes.
If you don't already know about it, look into Pantheon Rise of the Fallen. Currently in pre-alpha stage it is the spiritual successor to EverQuest and is being lead by Brad McQuaid who was one of the original two brains behind EQ1
I did the same thing with my warrior back in the day on live, had millions of platinum back then from playing my Mage/Shm mains so I used to buy him Scepter of Destruction/Blade of Carnage type gear, play him for a few weeks, get bored and strip him again. Must have did that at least 5 times over the years. Glad I eventually sold all my plat when it was still worth a decent amount back then. I think it was around 3.7 million plat.
Fabled items were improved version of the original item dropped and most didn't drop from the same mob. The classic case of this is the Fabled Jboots which buff you with a faster movement speed increase and dropped from a mob kill and not the quest. The fabled event started very early in EQ1 like I want to say year 2 but memory is fuzzy. You have the SoW pots bc you don't have the fabled Jboots and the original jboots aren't fast enough and why I bet they were in a bag when you found them.
The first anniversary event to introduce fabled mobs/items was in 2004 and they were all from classic EQ, each following year they brought fabled versions of things from the following expansions Kunark in 2005 and Velious in 2006 etc etc. I don't know how it worked after 2005 as I stopped playing by this point but on the first 2 events, the mobs specifically that I killed for items during, were just fabled versions of the exact mobs that dropped them in the classic era. Fabled Grachnist, Fabled Ghoul Executioner, Fabled Frenzied Ghoul. Past 2005 I think it started deviating from that pattern
I remember that event it was so painful XD , I spent at least 28 hours buffing a group in Lguk on my shaman main so I could get the Fabled Mithril 2hand sword for my baby SK who was like level 35 at the time, I actually got super lucky and managed to snag the fabled fbss also. It hurt to do it but by the end of that event he had better gear than my friends main lol.
Yea I struggled through the frenzied ghoul camp during that event on my main character to get the fabled FBSS. I had multiple groups that just kind of fell apart right around the time my turn on the loot list was up. I ended up having to pull favours with some raid geared friends to come and help me finally get it right before the event ended. Still sitting in my bards inventory after all these years haha.
original EQ, I got that for Christmas '99. without even asking. My mom accidentally ruined my life with MMO and video games. we didn't even have internet before i told her it required a connection. I miss Wu's fighting baton and Essence of Dol i think. for my monk. good times. NEED SoW for CR. RIP
My god, how slow is that horse? ... I get it, you can sit and get mana and cast spells on ahorse but if you look at the ground or walls, you are moving like 12 miles an hour.... and the horses legs are moving like 86 miles an hour. lol....I used to love to do the quest for the summoned horse. It took time but before a weekend or 8+ hours of play id grab a summoned horse. Right before horses came out and when they did no one could afford them. Its 1 time use but stays up to 30 minutes off server. take a break have lunch come back. Iget get it on my druid to dot kite Aviocks? Aeroks? Thos parrot bird men things... everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=31496;source=lucy
I'd watch any series you make man, wish you'd come back! You are a great content creator!
Good to see Fippy Darkpaw is still running to his death on the live servers at least.
Man I could watch these videos all day. So much nostalgia.
Wow trip down memory lane right there. Was in Silence of the dead, Thasslehoff crazy seeing my old character in a youtude video.
Flatts, great to have you posting again. SO many memories... thank you very much ! =)
Always excited when you post a video! Keep it up man!
Hey I played on Torvonnilous too! Cleric named Bobben in BoW.
BoC proc was on the original weapon. It was BiS for warriors outside of primal iirc. I had one (for my bard to make people seethe).

I can't believe their still active! :)
That's crazy man, amazed me that it still exists after all this time.
Heh, so many "Last Played 05." Looks like World of Warcraft raided the guild and took them away.

DAoC landed the first blow before WoW. Still prefer EQ after playing the others too.
