Good review. Thanks. I have had this pistol for over five years (shot many rounds). Excellent weapon. The trigger is ahead of its time. Amazing that other manufacturers have not copied it. The long initial pull prevents unintentional firing. The final pull and reset are as good as any other pistol on the market.
I Have the Pro version for few years had issues with jams and light primer strikes not firing! UNTIL I used some gun grease from Umbrella Corporation on Amazon, just a little in slide rails and barrel areas! Functions perfectly no issues hundreds or rounds different ammo Shoots Flawless!
I own one of these gen 1 pt 24/7 pro ds Taurus's. In my opinion it's more balanced and better built than a Glock 17. Plus the double striker trigger, trigger slide lock, and safety + decocker.
Polymer frames don't crack like alloy frame guns do, I owned the 24/7 for two years now in 40S&W caliper, I like it a lot, has a great feel in my hand. I like the thumb safety better then the Glock style trigger safety, which was a big reason I went with this gun, that and I got a good price on it too.
Taurus is a very underrated pistol. I own a 9mm and 40cal and I never had any problems with them. I've also had so called top of the line pistols and to me there's not much of a difference. Imo I think you're buying the name.
CZ SQ I have this pistol, a 24/7 pro DS, and it’s funny that no one knows about the de cocker but you and me lol 😂, do people just buy guns and handle them and make videoes about weapons they know nothing about? Hmmm lol
I have a pt111 millennium G2 an it is amazing! Its even more similar to a glock than this one. Breaks down the exact same, with the little tabs on the side.
I really don't like the two tone , but it looks like a good gun. As good as a Glock, and the price is a lot lower. If you are just starting off, it is nice to get a good gun that you can afford.
"DS" stands for Decocker Safety, not dual strike. What sets it apart from the non-DS version is its ability to de-cock the striker/hammer and to be fired both in single and double action. Single action gives you about 4lbs of trigger pull, whereas double action is a much longer pull and about 10-11lbs. Seems you weren't aware that it has a 3 position safety system - the bottom position enables the pistol to fire, the middle setting puts it in 'safe' condition, and the upper decocks the striker. This arrangement results in several carry options for the user as the gun can be carried with a round in the chamber ‘cocked and locked’ in ‘Condition One' (striker cocked with safety on), or the arguably safer ‘Condition Two’ (striker decocked and safety off, requiring a revolver-like DA pull to both cock and fire the pistol), or even with the striker decocked and the safety on. Maybe Google the specs on a firearm if you're going to review it.
"DS"...'Double Strike' or 'Decocking Safety'? So why aren't all Taurus semi's (excluding 1911) labeled as "DS". as every one that I know of is double strike capable. Anyhow, this is one of my favorite guns of any caliber.
Great gun, I own mine for over 10 years, only downside I found out is hand grip, it is super comfy but over years the rubbery grip start to tear down and I didn't find a way to replace it. Is there anything aftermarket that I can buy to replace handgrip?
It is a slide locking mechanism for safety. It comes with 2 keys that allow you to lock it so it cant be racked/loaded and fired. I guess if you were uber safe and didn't want your kids to be able to load it or shoot it you could lock it. I've never used it though. It has to be de-cocked as well before you can engage the lock.
have one of these. not the pro model but i don't see the difference. have u heard of the lawsuit on taurus? it seems to be making it hard for me to sell mine.
I'm a 1911 freak. I had three and one was a taurus pt1911. It was used had a compinsatore and a beveled mag attached to a flat flat mag spring housing. The grip safety was sticky and the accuracy was no where near my rock island which I shoot IDPA WITH. I have a son and brother who both shoot glock. I picked up mine for 250 and probably came out even. I later read about the recall so I called tauruas and ask of the guns turned in how many were actually defective and found out most were just because of the recall. I can shoot this gun for as long as I need to and if I see an issue I can get a brand new g2c. So it will be a win win on my part. I hope the 24/7 works great because my subcompact rock island will be my carry piece and I only lose to rounds to the g2c. Any response would be great.
Tarus has a Lifetime warranty. I've sent my raging judge to them and they make all repairs no questions asked. It just cost you to send it in and they mail it back free of charge.
Who still uses this weapon in 2020? This is my favorite pistol.
Just picked one up today
My dad
Had mine since 2012
Just grabbed one
This was my first .45...i bought it 4 yrs ago and still love it to this very day

The best pistol I e ever owned! Never jammed and is very accurate for a .45
My first .45......hasnt let me down in 4 1/2 yrs(and was used when I bought it.....just saying)totally underrated pistol
I have a 1rst gen 24/7 9mm and have put over 5000 rounds through it without a single failure. No way I would ever give mine up.
I regret giving mine up. I have a g2c now that I love, but I wish I had my old pt111 back.
I've had mine for years...never had a failure. I have no idea how many rounds have gone thru it, but it's a LOT!!!

You're right, there do seem to be alot of design cues from other guns, Glock, Browning, Beretta, etc.
2 tone is beautiful
I have the same gun in a 40cal. It's a very good reliable pistol.
Same here
Does anyone know where I can find mags for this weapon?? Everywhere is sold out
Good reliable quality gun taurus and are priced correctly!
The safety is also a de-cocker...just push up past safe.

I'm not much for two tone look either.
i want to buy 2 good guns for right now and i want to buy a nice car
isn't this that pistol that's so reliable it'll even fire if you fail to pull the trigger?
clout chaser

Ender Wiggin agreed
The lone wolf slides for Glocks look far superior than the stock ones.
NICE MAN ,HOW COME YOU KNOW SO MUCH ABOUT GUNS .
Is there a reason Taurus doesn't make a full sized striker pistol anymore?
It's like a Glock & a Sigma had a special baby
Special needs baby.
+Bradley Slackenfelch LMBOOOOOOO
hahahahahaha

Do you know where I could find the rail part that the trigger and central support fit in to? I have a pt 24/7 DS pro 40 cal and it needs a new one
Standard issue Brazilian police pistol

Had one of those at one time. I gave it to my brother - as far as I know, he still has it and really likes it.
Nice.
I've watched a torture test with one of these and it ran better than a glock vs dirt and mud
