I watched all New England sports with my dad. For some reason he was a Yankees fan, so he got to gloat that over us and he died in 2003, fittingly, the year before the Red Sox finally won the series lol. We are all obstinate in our way His friend had season tickets to the patriots back when they really sucked still and my dad told me a story that the stadium actually had to get on the loud speakers and tell the crowd that it’s supposed to be a family friendly atmosphere. Instead of less filling/tastes great. They were yelling eat s*** and f*** you. So if you think that light beer companies just recently started to piss people off, think again lol. 😂 It’s sad that we too often find out that our parents are really hilarious hot shits at the end of their lives.
Behind the backboard was because a guy bet him he couldn't make the shot! So... after Bird made that shot.... he ran over put his hand out for the money.....guy gave it to him ....Bird stuffed the money in his sock and went back to playing! 😂
Yeah.... the poor Hawks were the recipient of some major plays by Bird that's for sure! Lol. McHale 9 days before had broken the record (56) for the most points made by a Celtic ...during a regular game. Bird had jokingly said ....if I ever get that hot... I'm not stopping! So ....he got hot during that Hawks game ....he didn't stop (60)! The other game was when him and Dominique ....just had the greatest shootout in the 4th quarter ...I have ever seen! One of the players ...a rookie on the Hawks.... Instigated what turned out to be that awesome 4th quarter! You need to check out Birds trash talking videos. In 1 of those... Dominique tells the story of how Larry Bird got fired up for that 4th quarter shootout! Lol.
Having actually seen Larry Bird play, when I look back at it now, it appears that his entire short-lived career was one big highlight reel. LOL.
As a Lakers fan it was more like watching Houdini than a basketball player on court. He was phenomenal.
