Ah yes, the infamous "I don't understand what the hell is going on?!" scene. If you're wondering where's the romance in this series well here it is, some people just don't see it.
well I see the romance and I can't wait to see the ending of this anime. Well Yuigahama, Hikigaya and Yukinoshita have an interesting relationship, but I am afraid that this relationship will break because of love. I think at least yuigahama knows this fact. I just hope Hikigaya can decide on what he actually feels about his two girl friends.
There's a deeper interpretation than this, but it's ultimately up to the readers/viewers to decide. Here it is: Yukino Yukinoshita: As to how she looks at Yui and 8man goes; those two are the only people that really matter to her as of now. Starting amidst the second season, she started to develop feelings for 8man (which is quite obvious). But she refrains from saying anything because she is aware that Yui likes 8man. To her, Yui is like a real sibling she thought she never had; and probably her closest friend she ever had/will have. Yui Yuigahama: She started crushing on 8man ever since he saved her dog. As the series progressed, these feelings only grew deeper as she began to understand the type of person 8man is. As for Yukino, Yui considers her, her best friend. Also, she's aware of the fact that Yukino started to like 8man. So she refrains from openly confessing to him as she thinks Yukino deserves 8man more than herself while constantly being torn in-between her own feelings and her best friends'. She is the main driving force for the progression of the story for these three. Hachiman Hikigaya: To him, both the girls are the people who will probably care for him the most in his life(apart from his sister). He doesn't want to lose either of them. He is obviously starting to see Yukino in a romantic way. But at the same time, he also doesn't want to lose Yui. Now, I can't really say if he actually likes Yui romantically or not simply because it wasn't clearly shown. He is, however, aware of the fact that both the girls like him. But he doesn't want to create any waves. Well, to summarize, these three see each other as the legs of a tripod, being in love with each other (romantically or in a friendly way), and if any of them were to confess, it would mean the end of their group; and the tripod would fall. This is why they kept dancing around while desperately trying to hold on to each other until Haruno finally snapped them back to reality. As for the other characters go, Iroha has a crush on Hayama, but at the same time started to see 8man in a new light. She will mostly develop serious feelings for him as well(maybe she already did?). And also, Hayama likes/liked Yukino(if you can't accept that, re-watch the entire season 2/ or at least the 11th episode ending). So he tries to rely on 8man again though he really doesn't like doing so. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now as for this episode, Yui is the MVP in this episode. She is the first person to come in terms with reality and accept the fact that the three of them cannot go on like this forever. So, she gathered all the three of them together as one last 'Hurrah' before everything inevitably falls apart. She played the role of a martyr this episode, trying to appear negligent to Yukino's feeling, while in reality she is trying to get them both together by playing the villain. By openly confessing to 8man(well, giving him cookies?), she hoped to pull out Yukino from her shell and admit her feelings for 8man. When that didn't work, she tried convincing Yukino to follow along with her plan to come to a happy ending. Now it's not really clear whether 8man understood Yui's intentions or not, but he still believed Yukino has to make her own decisions. PS: Notice the 8man's and Yukino's reactions when they see each other at the aquarium? What does that mean? Neither of them were aware that the other person was going to be there. To them, they were going out with Yui, and ONLY Yui. collected :p
Well now after watching the third season,it seems that their group goes on despite the fact that yukino gathered the courage and confessed her love to 8man.
I have to disagree on Yui is the MVP lol. Yui practically saw Yukino was about to give Hachiman cookies for Valentines just before Haruno appeared. The ending was more like Yui desperately doing the best she can to have Hachiman but be still able to keep Yukino's friendship. When she gave her baked cookies she was counting on what Hachiman previously said to her that as long as she did her best(making the cookies) the person who will receive it may in return learn to like her. I like Yui, but let us admit it, like she also said she was playing dirty, she was being selfish on this scene.
"Save me, someday." I'd like to think this was that moment. More than any other moment. Because if Hikigaya remained silent, Yukino would have went for Yui's proposal.
@@scizi1911 Yui's proposal was to remain pretending that everything is okay to not hurt themselves and the people around them. Because if this were the proposal that would be fulfilled. Their relationship would be disingenuous and superficial, which is not what Hachiman wants. Hachiman wants a "genuine" relationship.
The first time you watch it, you won't understand anything about what are they talkin about, you just feel it sad asf. But watching it over and over again, you end up understanding all about thier probs and characteristics little by little, you just cant put it into words because its already etched in your heart. Then you'll realize how fucking good is this anime. I dont have any similarities with the characters in this anime, but why I feel shot down? This anime is sayin something you can't relate, its just makes you feel.. reason why it's one of the best anime for me.
Yes. I remember watching it a year ago and I couldn't really understand, it felt super sad tho. I watched it again today and I noticed that there were so many things that I missed last time. I hope season 3 comes soon.
Slink Wings there’s a video by a channel named My Anime called Oregairu ending explained part 2. Basically both girls are in love with him and if Yui gets Hachiman their problem and Yukino’s problem with her family would stop. But Yukino loves him as well so she can’t just let go and Yui knew that, she basically baited Hachiman to talking. Just watch the guys video it will make lots of sense
Hachiman is in love with Yukinoshita. Period. If he went the Yui route he would have to give up on Yukinoshita and start trying to love Yui for real but not once has he seen Yui in that way. 8man has always seen Yui as a friend but she has a huge crush on 8man and that's the main reason she joined the club to begin with to get close to 8man but a great friendship blossomed between her and Yukinoshita but she easily realized the romance between the 2 that stagnated BECAUSE she was there and she played with it and acted like she wasn't aware but really she was the one most aware of everything. This scene was pretty much Yuigahama's resolve and last ditch effort. A suicide dive of some sort. She tells Yukinoshita to give her 8man because they both know already WHO he loves, she tells Yukinoshita to give up her love for him and move on that way everyone can be happy, to do it before 8man realizes what he feels for Yukinoshita but 8man stopped it because he didn't really know what he felt but he knew it was all downhill from there had he not done anything, heck it might've destroyed their relationship forever in the long run. Yukinoshita said that Yuigahama was amazing, that was both a jab and a compliment: a Jab because that was, let's face it, vicious as f*ck. Using your bestfriend's weakness to take the guy she also likes and taking advantage of her familial situation to push your argument is wicked. A compliment because she resolved herself to bring it all it an end before anyone else and had the balls to do what the other 2 couldn't and that was bringing this business to the table. Yukinoshita wanted to agree but at the end of the day she loves 8man as well so no way in hell she could just say yes without dying a little inside. It was a betrayal of some sort fort Yukinoshita. Oh well best girl won.
Yep, I liked Hachiman in this part since he had already knew to stand up to this kind of situations knowing there is something fishy. It really showed that he had care for this two.
i didnt get the "im not a nice girl" part until i realized this. yui resolved herself to sacrifice her friendship to have a chance. its more like "if i cant be happy with him nobody will be". im glad 8man had a talk with his sensei about caring someone you would always hurt someone no matter what or else he would accept this condition of hers.
If you’re confused there’s a channel named My Anime and he explained the ending very well it’s called Oregairu Ending explained part 2. Basically Yui and Yukino both love him and Yui wants to have Hachiman and still keep their friendship and Yukino was about to give in because their family wants her to stay away from Hachiman but she likes him as well. In the previous episode Haruno says Yukino has changed and that’s because of Hachiman, she finally feels like she belongs, and when Yui asks if it’s all right Hachiman interrupts, which is then when Yui realizes Hachiman loves Yukino, because if he hadn’t Yui and Hachiman would’ve been a thing
@@fathertomhanks1887 kinda sorta but not really. It basically shows that they're pretty much doing the thing that they criticized Hayama about which makes what Haruno says sbout them being....spoiler . . . . .. . . co-dependent on eachothers approval rather than being anything close to friends a bit more...well screwed up
The charm in Oregairu is that it is quite similar to real life. Not all of us can muster the courage to confess to the person they like especially when you know that your friend also likes the person as well. It is hard because we have to consider each other's feelings while considering your own. This truly is a master piece and we will know the true ending, the "geniune relationship" that will happen between the three.
MJ Aries of course it’s similar to real life. This anime shows what the real hidden society we live in. If you don’t have a group you will be a loner, you will be outcasted other then that this is a slice of life anime so of course it’s suppose to be real.
I agree and disagree cause here me out Yui was not a nice girl cause she wanted to be selfish for once in her life not wanting to regret later down the road that she would've gave up essily, but she was also nice because if you think about it if she wasn't nice she wouldn't have confessed while yukino was there nor she would've confessed earlier down the line where yukino was at her most vulnerable. And yuking is not strong cause she can't even make her own decision so far she has been imitating her older sister which is why haruno really wanted hikki for her sister cause she saw that around him she showed her true self yet haruno also know that the only way her sister was gonna be free after falling for hikki was to either get accepted or rejected, that's why haruno kept instigating the 3 of them in this love triangle, which leada me to yukino is strong cause she was probably the only person haruno knew that would recover from such heartbreak it wasn't gonma be easy but if there was anyome who could handle it, she knew it was her younger sister that's why she mentioned the feeling to be more sinister than being scary, the real kicker to this is she was strong enough to let go for the both of them yet she wasn't strong enough to accept what she was feeling which was killing her the entire time.
The fact that how yui avoids putting it into words directly to preserve their friendship is making me weep with emotions... This sure was an emotional Rollercoaster
Here: Yui: “Yukino, your family wont allow you to be with 8man, so give him to me and you problem is solved and we can still all be friends. Do you agree” Yukino: “I...umm...mayb...” Hachiman: “No, I don’t like fake, superficial relationships” Yukino: “yea, nice try yui but he’s mine”
1:42 That moment when Yukinon realises Yuigahama was around them just to join hands with Hachiman since the very beginning . "You're incredible, Yuigahama" is just another way of saying, "what you did is unbelievably selfish, yuigahama"
How is that selfish,? Yuigahama too never realise that Yukino also likes hachiman up until the infirmary scene, The only selfish person here is hachiman, he knew yuigahama like him he knew yuigahama want to date him, but what he did was the very thing he hated the most, hipocrisy, he did what Ebina and Hayama did to their clique, maintaining status quo so the group won't break apart
@@trihermawan9553 personally I just think Hachi is conflicted and would rather not complicate his already increasingly complicated life. You seem to forget the kind of guy he actually is.. which is the central plot of the show. Loner king.
@@trihermawan9553 I don't think hachiman actually knows how any of them actually feel about him. Remember, the guy is very self-conscious and self-deprecating. He's obviously aware that they have a "special bond" but he thinks that it's only friendship and that all the subtle little hints are nothing. That's also why he doesn't know what is the answer to the question "if it's not trust, then what is it?" Even after yukino's sister gave him the most painfully obvious hint... The fact that it's more selfish and disgusting than he thinks. He's in complete denial and refuses the fact that it could be more. He can barely fathom the idea of a girl liking him (obviously because of his past). In other words, he's incredibly intelligent but also fucking clueless.
Man, to think about it, Hachiman saved Yui's dog, that lead him to unfortunate accident, which makes her wanna "sorry and thanks". Since then Yui had this "payback him" bond. It's okay when she did friendly-things, like hanging around classmate and up until her "chocolate request". But after she decided to join the cult, maybe she kinda forced herself (either wanna spend more time with him or already prevent some girl around him; Yukinon). Long short story, Hachiman did take her granted (after all it's just "helping people", which makes him actually upset to think she chased to friend him this far just because of "that"), but Yui forced herself again to push beyond. I don't know what she intended to do later, but we know it made her loves him now. >mfw all of this realization just went it all after Hachiman's "Yui is a nice girl" bias. What a golden show.
@@nabieladrian well, it's evident from the last scene of season 2 that it was her plan all along... To be next to hachiman and make him some handmade cookies (in my opinion, not only to just say "thank you" since there are strong hints of her having more selfish and stronger feelings for him. Especially when she says that she will make the first move and when she presented her opinion of the confession site as if she was ready to make her move just after the first confession... Which hachiman completely ruined for pretty selfish reasons showing that he can not only be a deceptive hypocrite, but also that his original values mainly came from him rationalizing his resentment).
It's so complicated series, it gives not a single conclusion about what they actually wanted from each other and how they accept their True feeling and how they moved forward. It's us who makes the relationship complicated writer create love complex, If hi ki think about both of them then he should not go with anyone.
Your right and your wrong your right because it does show that all three of them are not able to explain their true feelings towards one another but the reason behind that is because none of them wanted their relationship to change even if Yukino and yui both did love Hikigaya they just would’nt have wanted their friendship to end up changing
Thekingofpirates this whole love triangle is amusing to watch, but realistically it’s wack. It can’t work at all, it has to be sided or it cannot work. One person loses while the other person wins or hikingaya can decide neither and no one wins.
@@jayjustjay7871 its actually not that unrealistic. hiki actually fell inlove with yukino from the start however due to his past trauma's he deems himself unworthy. a love triangle like this is actually pretty common in real life with childhood/highschool friends its just that in real life there would be sexual interactions included.
@@kenzacharyrodriguez2591 It must be extremely rare. Never seen this ever happen in real life, other than this anime and a few others. The show comes off as redundant to me, but wtf do i know. Im looking at this from a matured and reasonable perspective for this show of course, so i don’t understand this ridiculous high school drama.
I just wish there were more love animes with adults instead of highschool students whining about sweet nothings. I would love to see one involving college students falling in love and struggling together with college, work, and friendships. Maybe even the career choices they make drags them apart, and burn bridges with friends and family. College can suck sometimes when you have to make sacrifices to get where you want to be.
Man just the fact that i watched this in the year 2023 and i didn't know that its been finished a long time and i was still hoping for more season, that just sad
They started with the first opening, Yukitoki. Ended S2 with Yukitoki. And finally, ended the series with Yukitoki. It really shows how much meaning the beginning can hold for the end of it all.
Exactly, Yui is tryna force Yukino to give up on Hachiman. Fuck this bitch. She’s trying to create a fake relationship with Hachiman and expecting it to work out. She’s trying to make Yukino feel guilty that she like Hachiman.
@@user-bz1xk3pm2v you misunderstand the point , Yui wanted to remain the fake friend relationship with both of them for 2 reasons : 1 .she wanted to be with Hachiman a little longer 2. She also wanted to be a good friend of Yukino . If you watch ss 3 , you will notice that Yui actually sacrifices her feelings (by hiding her tears, crying when hachiman not there) for hachiman so that he can help Yukino without worrying about her. She was the most friendly girl right at the beginning, Yukino was a nice girl after all but it took her quite a long screen time to change her personality into what we know today. I mean just watch some episodes of ss3 and you will see how much the author focus on her instead of Yukino
@@m1k3hh71 well too bad for you. Yui didn't sacrifice anything in ss3. She actually took the chance that Yukino distanced herself from the trio to snatch 8man on her own. That was why she called herself a Disgusting, Selfish person (according to Light Novel). If she was a good friend she should have help them instead. And the person who tried to sacrifice everything was Yukino. Gave up on 8man by giving her dearest wish to Yui knowing Yui loves 8man although Yukino herself loves him as well. But she is a selfless person so she consider her best friend's priority. Not to mention her insecurity made her think she will be a huge burden to 8man and of course the Co dependency from Haruno added in. The reason why u saw so many Yui's scenes in season 3 was the Biases from Studio Feels, they have cut almost every important Yukino's parts such as her monologues - her inner emotions. They made Yui stand out like an actually nice girl but that thing was never been from Light Novel materials. Season 3 buffed Yui-Iroha and nerfed Yukino to the point anime viewers only thought they have decent chance to win 8man, so waifu war was happened. It was so stupid because from LN materials, 8man's mind always think about Yukino and her only. All the Yui's scenes in anime had 8man's inner emotions but it had been cut. He felt uncomfortable, annoyed when Yui tried to appoarched him. He felt lonely and he missed Yukino when she distanced herself. He tried his best to create the dummy Prom just to make sure Yukino's one will be success, although it exhausted both his physically and mentally. Anime didn't show how hurt he was when he listened to Yukino's wish in episode 8. He didn't want to end the relationship with her, the sadness when he had to accept her request. His hestiation to close the club door. All the subtle moments that showed how his genuine feelings were cut before episode 9. Clearly the Light Novel Author didn't write his work to be focused on Yui like you said. But it was on 8man-Yukino instead. The anime adaptation was unfaithful to the original.
@@NOOB95 man, Yui has already knew Hachiman's love for Yukino and she just wants some very last moments with him as a close friend . In episode 4 (She even tries to hide her tears so that Hachiman can go help Yukino without caring about her feelings. She's not that bad , she just acts like any normal girls

For those who are confused I ask ChatGPT on this and this is his answer: 1. Yui has a crush on Hachiman and develops feelings for him early on in the series. She admires Hachiman's willingness to help others, his intelligence, and his ability to speak his mind. However, she initially keeps her feelings hidden and tries to remain friendly with both Hachiman and Yukino. As the series progresses, Yui becomes more assertive in expressing her feelings to Hachiman, but also acknowledges that he may have feelings for someone else. 2. Yukino also develops romantic feelings for Hachiman, but she is more reserved and indirect about expressing them. She initially sees Hachiman as a challenge, someone who is difficult to understand and can match her intellect. Over time, however, she comes to admire Hachiman's honesty and determination, and she begins to see him as someone she could potentially have a deeper relationship with. 2. Hachiman is initially unaware of the romantic feelings of both Yui and Yukino, and is focused more on his own internal struggles with social anxiety and self-worth. However, as he spends more time with both girls, he begins to develop feelings for each of them in different ways. He sees Yui as a source of warmth and comfort, someone who can make him feel accepted and valued. On the other hand, he sees Yukino as a challenge, someone who he can work alongside to improve himself and understand the complexities of human relationships. Overall, the romantic relationships in "Oregairu" are complex and nuanced, with each character having their own strengths and weaknesses that attract them to each other. The series explores the challenges of navigating relationships during adolescence, and how difficult it can be to express one's true feelings and connect with others on a deeper level.
For me I think 8man already had something genuine to him since the first day he met those two. From his cynical, negativist, self deprecating attitude little by little arising to him being codependent with each other. This "genuine" thing had already been growing inside him but he refused to take it for granted since he doesnt want to misunderstood it. Thats why for me he didn't really wanted something genuine. He wanted what to know what is genuine, to know whag it is like and our 2 best girls will help him no matter what
To those saying that Yui is not nice girl cause of taking advantage of Yukino’s weakness by forcing agreeing with her. Man, Yui is living in real life when something you truly want you should go for it “win or lose” Yui is fighting to win Hachiman’s heart even she knows that it is impossible to win this battle. That is something i really like or proud of about Yui something that i didn’t do on my past experience which now i am still regretting. THIS ANIME IS FREAKING AMAZING! Even though i really like Yui, i still want Yukino to win.
Then the Coronavirus struck and Yui, Yukino and Hachiman had to go to quarantine and wait before the could continue with their love story. Looking forward for the 3rd season.
A psychological proof: why Yui is not selfish but selfless at 04:08 when Yukino was going to give in to her proposal, a selfish mind would have brimmed with joy because she knew that was going to seal her deal with Hikigaya. But just see her expression. She is not happy seeing Yukino losing to her introvertedness and once again saying a lie that she doesn't believe inside. She wanted to stir up a situation to force Yukino out of her shell and waiting to see if she rejects her offer which finally Hachiman did. He too is not very comfortable in situations like this, but in critical moments, he opens up the cellotape from his mouth and speaks for Yukino (he saved her earlier too when work was piling up on her due to council president's negligency) Yui just wanted to break the suffocation in the group that was getting worse and complicated due to unsaid words between each other and taking them far away from genuinity just to preserve the fragile sweet trio vives that has no future unless one accepts a relationship between any two of them and moves on. Yui took that role and moved on, without breaking the group bond. Haruno mentions to Yui once that she has to take the role of the mature person here, which she did but ultimately she is not an incarnation, but a human being like us. She felt her love for Hachiman but also got hints of Hachiman liking Yukino. But she couldn't kill all her feelings and give up all hopes unless she hears it directly from him. At the end, we all know what happened at the park during sunset when she heard from him "Somehow, I don't want to stop associating myself with Yukinoshita" That was the last hammer on all her remaining hopes and a confirmation of Hikki's feelings from Hikki himself. She finally gave up on her feelings and had a satisfaction of saving the group and her friendship with Yukino (don't consider later at the end of the series when Komachi and Iroha insisted her to not give up on Hikki, and she came up with a request to the club asking to sort her problem that she loves someone who has a girlfriend; because even if it looks like so, it was for a comic relief and a happy ending to the series to show the audience that their bonds keep going on like this ever after..... She never gave any serious effort after that sunset revelation moment and respected their (Yukino's and Hikki's) relationship from the core. She lost Hikki as a lover but never as a friend. Don't know why many don't see it as a sacrifice because at her age, it's really tough to show that high of a character. More to it because it was her first love. Once Hikki had tried to confess to a girl in middle school and Yukino had something with Hayama in the past. But Yui, from the very beginning had her heart for Hikki, none else. And when time came, she left that strong feeling too with a smile on her face, returned home and cried her heart out on her mother's lap. My respect to the genuine girl, Yui.
You do not acknowledge the fact that she is selfish, even though she admitted herself that she is, and it is known that love between two people is mutual, but not one-sided. If you believe that if a girl loves you, she must be chosen, this is not fair, but Yui basically joined the club in order to win his love even though she has no seed. She takes advantage of her friend's feelings, like Yukinon, who is introverted and does not know Friendship can be exploitation or a lie, so her movements shock her, that she does not care about the club or herself, and that she is someone I must get close to in order to win Hikigaya’s love. She even knows that her love is illogical, that he saved her dog, and that she is a person without dignity. As for Yumeko, my girl, and she shocks her friend with a wooden face, that she is wronged. And she is doing the right thing, and she is basically a liar and exploiter, and even after Yukinon and Hikigaya became lovers, she still approached him and exploited her as usual, and she did not stop her, so he spoke with logic a little and not with emotion.
So by take it all she means that she want the three’s relationship to stay together and she wants to have an intimate relationship Hachiman and wants everything to last forever..
I really love dwelling on this scene, it’s such food for thought as to what these characters are thinking amidst all this and how far they’ve come. Yui has been trying to get closer to Hachiman from the start, and decides to make her move now, after so much time throughout Season 2 where the club has been deteriorating its relationships to a near superficial level, on the verge of complete collapse should one of them move forward. Yukino has been trying to confess all throughout this episode, and has been shown getting really close with Hachiman. If she moves, she loses Yui, and the same goes if Yui moves. Yui has always been the proactive glue of the group, getting them to move and keep as one. She takes them all to the aquarium and makes the ultimatum, trying to force Yukino to move or else she will do it herself. It could be a bluff, but she wants this either way. However, it’s made clear she loves Yukino and their friendship too much to steal away Yukino’s chance to move. Yukino knows if she tries to take the leap, she will not only lose Yui but her family will not let her take that route easily. So she is stuck between a rock and a hard place, leading to her hesitation here. However Hachiman by this point has already promised to Yukino to save her. Not because he was asked to, but because they have caught feelings for each other. Something unconditional, in a word, *genuine.* Even if he doesn’t realize it yet. At this point, he cannot leave her for Yui and especially not when the final decision is being forced into a compromise. So he breaks it off and reminds them that he only wishes for something genuine, something outside obligations or strings.

You all might say 8man rejects Yui's proposal because he doesn't want something fake. But to me, since the first time I watched S2 few years ago. It was also partly because of 8man's sentiment to Yukino.
he is actually in love with yukino from the start. here is just him overcoming his past trauma and slowly regaining his confidence. he doesnt want to compromise and hide anymore.
Yui is trying to take over Yuki problem (her feeling to hikki) just mean want Yuki give up on her love. But thankfully to Yukki to make they choose their own way to solve their problems.
All are getting trouble for not understanding this scene Let's be clear .. Yukino wish for hachiman was "my wish for you is to grant yugahama wish" And today is the day for season 3 SNFAU
This drama is interesting, I can't said it's the best romance but , they don't said anything straight forward but every romantic conversation and appearance carried a riddle which make this show interesting, do you agree?
This is where I decide to really root for Yukino. Just like Haciman said, he thought Yukinoshita Yukino was a strong woman, but she’s weak inside. He thought Yuigahama Yui was a kind person, but no, she wasn’t. Yui selfishly pushed the situation where Yukino had to choose whether to break it with her and enter the love rivals state or fake it like it’s nothing if Yui goes out with Hachiman, and still befriend with Yui like normal. I think what Yui did wasn’t wrong at all, there has to he someone who speak it up and apparently neither Yukino nor Hachiman would do so, so Yui had to do it. Regarding where the situation between them going to, I really appreciate the fact that Hachiman helped Yukino to become her stronger self, more like to the good part of her old self just like Haruno pointed out (Before befriended with Yui, Yukino would have go for Hachiman without a care of Yui’s feelings) At the meantime (LN SPOILERS), Yukino also helped Hachiman in her own way, to the point that she went as far as push him away, to think that she’d be okay if she took time, and that Yui can go out with Hachiman while having Yukino as best friend like she wished. Out of all three of them, the answer is that, Yui never really wished for genuine thing, Yukino wished for it but doesn’t really know how to get it so she continuously goes to the wrong directions. Hachiman wished for it, but not in a cruel way. So he has to fight his way in order to get it. That’s why it makes so much sense that Yukino is the one who he loves. And why the story ended with Hachiman had his wished granted (sorta), Yukino got to know how things really are and how to express feelings and receive them (together with Hachiman), Yui decided to change her wish and stay being friends with those two while they’re dating. I love Wataru Watari.
I know Yukino gonna be st specail to hachiman right in the first episode , they were quite opposite to each other but they helped each other silently. What Yui did is selfish but it's the only way to push the 3 into a better relationship , Hachiman has to choose his girl or never meet Yui and Yukino again to avoid love triangle. Yui knew that Hachiman stuck with Yukino's problems than hers, what she was trying to do is just getting herself a little more time to be close to 8man before Hachiman and Yukino become a real couple. Yukino noticed this and told Hachiman to conduct Yui's wishes as she thought a nice girl like Yui deserved more.( ep 9 ss3) Hachiman agreed. I haven't read the LN yet but i 've known the ending , Yui must be so sad as she can't get along with 8man anymore , i think she has to try hard to forget him when she goes to college
@ThePirateQueen at first i was kinda disappointed that Yui was not the one for Hachiman , but now i accept it. Girls like Yui are super common in Hachiman's highshool life , except Yukino, she's the one that stands out from the common girl types, which get Hachiman's attention
I think alot of people have misjudged Yui's character. Whilst she clearly loves Hikki she is quite manipulative in this love triangle and is doing all she can to win. Hachiman inner dialogue questioning himself on if she really is a nice girl is clue enough, the LN did a good job of portraying this but the anime makes it abit harder without background context. Lets not forget Hachiman is rarely ever wrong about people. I know the Shin novels are woeful but this also further shows her character as a homewrecker and trying to sabotage the relationship do she can win. Maybe the ova will clear stuff up but from the trailer it looks like it'll follow the events where Yui is going to try and steal Hachiman
Yep. The Yui simps would defend her her because, I find, they've never experienced it for themselves or seen through deception because they're either just that thick or willfully refuses the bad in someone. If Yui did know 8man and Yuki had feelings for each other, then the moral thing to do is step back while encouraging the two to express their feelings for one another. But nah! No way dude! Yui is a nice girl because she forced them into an ultimatum!
Nah I disagree with your interpretation. While yes Yui is manipulative, its not out of malice but out of her own desire to get what she wants. Yukino doesnt own 8man, Yukino did not even confess to 8man and while she did know that Yukino and 8man likes each other - for all intents and purposes, she hasnt lost the fight yet. Why should Yui be branded as manipulative and selfish if theyre not even dating? Afraid to even tell each other how they really feel? Yui fought with the tools she had. 8man questions if Yui is really a nice girl since to him being nice is to keep a facade to deceive people and get what they want - and while this is true for Yui, what else can she really do? She is not a homewrecker - the home has not even began to be built. To me Yui fought fair and square, and when she recognized that 8man has finally decided to chase Yukino - she backed off. She fought to the bitter end and that is what people should do. Why surrender just because you knew you and your friend likes the same guy and the guy likes your friend? She fought an uphill battle with grace. I will die on the hill where Yui should be the true partner as she did more to be closer to 8man while all Yukino did was avoid the issue. She was brave enough to force the issue and recognized that maintaining the status quo would only lead to them eventually collapsing also.
@@mosesracal6758 it doesn't matter what her reasons were. She was being manipulative because she was trying to play and corner the situations with boxing yukino in. She doesn't owe them anything correct, that doesn't justfy being a shitty person to get what you want though. She was playing with her so called friends feelings and manipulating her and hachiman to get what she wants, at whatever the cost. Its a shitty thing to do as a person. Regardless of motive. It also further confirms hachimans inner dialogue thats she's not as nice as she portrays, and his assessment of people's character/personalities are never off. Also just off the last bit i think.its clear you think this way because you.prefer yui. She did not do more btw, she was just more vocal and forward with it, are you forgetting yukino supressed feelings, opinions and actions just so hachiman would stop hurting himself and sacrificing himself to help others? She also was the one who actively tried to stop hachiman from self sacrificing, hence why she was upset when he kept doing it. She was instrumental to hachiman growing as a person. Yui was just there to be with hachiman but she didn't help his character in anyway other than to pursue a personal goal whilst yukino tried to help hachiman develop and be happy with himself. Thats why when he realised this he also did the same for her. Again with yui you can praise her tenacity but she is not a good person for playing with their emotions and trying to force its thats not what a good friends does or even a lover. She is also not compatible with hachiman in anyway for many reasons. Fighting to the end isn't a noble cause when it comes at the cost of screwing your friends over for someone who doesn't like you back. You have to come to a realisation that it'll never work, a good friend who knows two people love each other would help them get together not create a toxic dynamic in hopes of 'winning' her fighting till the end isn't something that should be applauded. She was living im denial. P.s yes she is very much a homewrecker in the new novels and soon to be ova. Well tried to be. This isn't debatable she plans it and discuses it
@Xelenoz LOL both of them are nice girl but what yui actually trying to do is to force hachiman said something he normally wouldn't said . Therefore I suggest u go see some explanation b4 u judge it .
@Xelenoz bro u just refuse to listen if u really didn't understand what am I talking about u wouldn't know I have grammar error . So try to understand the character before u judge it
And if u just wanna mention yui is selfish why don't u go other section why do u have to comment at others comment just to have some reply 😂😂😂 Do u just wanna talk to someone ? 😂😂
Now when i re-watched this part again i think atleast i understand a bit now or i really understand. I rewatched this anime 3 times now but i really didnt understand at first, and when season 3 came i didnt understand more lol and now i understand when i watched this again. :,) (Or because someone on the other vid spoiled me XD)
In the end this is what their professor probably wanted to happen she's not the bad guy for forming the club nor instigating the feelings they had but she wanted to correct both yukino and hachiman's way of thinking and make them realize what human emotion actually is although yui joining was the unexpected factor that she knew was going to end the group badly one way or another
Yup, yuki's fam doesn't like hachi bcause she's changing. To solve yuki's problem, yui wants to have intimate relationship with hachi and the friendship of the three will remain.
@@sovereign.3189 i detailed explanation was made by this guy here anime.stackexchange.com/questions/37932/confusion-about-ending-of-oregairu-season-2 , or if u want me to put it simply, yui and yukino like hachiman, yukino is inexperienced when it comes to emotion such as love so she does not know how to deal with this, yui IS experienced with love and subtly try to show that she wants to form a romantic relationship with hachiman, but she knows that the group will be ruined if one of them forms a romantic relationship, so she doesnt want that to happen. I agree the show includes alot of implication sometimes, so its hard to read between the lines to grasp an understanding of what it is they are trying to say.
I honestly can’t understand what they’re talking about at all. It doesn’t help that I watched the anime two years ago so my memory of it is a little bit patchy towards the end, but I’m pretty sure I didn’t get it back then either. I mean, I’m not even sure why everything went spiralling downhill from the field trip where Hachiman fixed the issue with Hayama and his friend group! Anyway, all I understood here was that Yui had somehow thought up a way to solve or get rid of all their problems (unfortunately I can’t remember what the problems were in the first place) and Yukinoshita was reluctant to agree to it, but almost did because of the pressure of their vague conversation. Hachiman notices her hesitation and instead steps in to say that she should solve her problems (whatever they were) herself. I guess the main point of this rambling comment was to ask why Yukinoshita doesn’t seem pleased or happy about that? Instead she seems shocked for a while and then a bit offended? It looked like she was being pushed- or rather, pushing herself -into agreeing with Yui despite actually wanting to refuse, so shouldn’t she be pleased that she’s able to maintain some degree of control over her own problems? Well, I suppose nobody would be happy about having problems per se... I did try rewatching near the end of the last episode of Zoku to find out more but I suppose the issues with their friendship are always all over the place and hard to understand so it wasn’t too helpful for me.
This anime Oregairu is a obvious plot of "adding one girl to stagnate the Romance development, the author added Yui here as just the spice of the show, its like adding Rem in Rezero which is also a spice In the show, both spice don't have an ideal setting, they are there to either convince the MC or convince the fans, without both spice, the anime will delve in simple Romance, (idk another the simple) so don't attack me, so Yui don't have a chance to begin with. That's why I like Yui I love losing girls, after watching Nisekoi, I will always be a fan of losing girls, I like to congratulate them, instead of giving up early, they fight for it to the end of their ship, they didn't abandoned the ship, even though they now the ending is always unfair and bittersweet, they still live for it, Yui was entertaining part of the show, while Yukino and Hachiman was the development that is already handled in the start. (Props to Yui) My only question for them, (why didn't you confessed earlier when the main heroine still didn't appeared, but alas, I know the author knows the answer) they're part of the plot to begin with

well I see the romance and I can't wait to see the ending of this anime. Well Yuigahama, Hikigaya and Yukinoshita have an interesting relationship, but I am afraid that this relationship will break because of love. I think at least yuigahama knows this fact. I just hope Hikigaya can decide on what he actually feels about his two girl friends.

Good thing even them long waiters now have eternal peace
There's a deeper interpretation than this, but it's ultimately up to the readers/viewers to decide.
Here it is:
Yukino Yukinoshita:
As to how she looks at Yui and 8man goes; those two are the only people that really matter to her as of now. Starting amidst the second season, she started to develop feelings for 8man (which is quite obvious). But she refrains from saying anything because she is aware that Yui likes 8man. To her, Yui is like a real sibling she thought she never had; and probably her closest friend she ever had/will have.
Yui Yuigahama:
She started crushing on 8man ever since he saved her dog.
Hachiman Hikigaya:
To him, both the girls are the people who will probably care for him the most in his life(apart from his sister). He doesn't want to lose either of them. He is obviously starting to see Yukino in a romantic way. But at
the same time, he also doesn't want to lose Yui.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now as for this episode,
Yui is the MVP in this episode.
To them, they were going out with Yui, and ONLY Yui.
collected :p
well said
@ThePirateQueen ye yui was mvp
wth is wrong with these essay comments
"Save me, someday."
I'd like to think this was that moment. More than any other moment. Because if Hikigaya remained silent, Yukino would have went for Yui's proposal.
Dude you just saved me there 😌
What was the proposal? Love?
where did they say this line?
@@nou7672 in was in the amusement ride Yukino and Hachiman went to during next year's when they were seperated from the others.

For real when I thought I understand him fully that time as I watched it again and again my understanding for him increases
You all should also try out K-ON, really great animation and beautiful story just like this one. It's a high-school slice of life without romance btw
Yeeeeeessssssss
i didnt get the "im not a nice girl" part until i realized this. yui resolved herself to sacrifice her friendship to have a chance. its more like "if i cant be happy with him nobody will be". im glad 8man had a talk with his sensei about caring someone you would always hurt someone no matter what or else he would accept this condition of hers.
@@kenzacharyrodriguez2591 at least she accepts this in season 3
Well we all know yukino and 8man become a think
This scene is basically Yui forcing Yukino to accept the fact the she'll take Hachiman and him denying it.

"Yui is not a nice girl"
"Yukiko is not a strong girl"

I want to agree and disagree as well..
I agree and disagree cause here me out
Yui was not a nice girl cause she wanted to be selfish for once in her life not wanting to regret later down the road that she would've gave up essily, but she was also nice because if you think about it if she wasn't nice she wouldn't have confessed while yukino was there nor she would've confessed earlier down the line where yukino was at her most vulnerable.
And totsuka is not a girl

Tysm, this is the only scene that i didn't understand
1:42 That moment when Yukinon realises Yuigahama was around them just to join hands with Hachiman since the very beginning . "You're incredible, Yuigahama" is just another way of saying, "what you did is unbelievably selfish, yuigahama"
How is that selfish,? Yuigahama too never realise that Yukino also likes hachiman up until the infirmary scene,
The only selfish person here is hachiman, he knew yuigahama like him he knew yuigahama want to date him, but what he did was the very thing he hated the most, hipocrisy, he did what Ebina and Hayama did to their clique, maintaining status quo so the group won't break apart
Man, to think about it,
Hachiman saved Yui's dog, that lead him to unfortunate accident, which makes her wanna "sorry and thanks".
Godamn. That was heart-wrenching.

Seeing fans saying he loves both of them

Me: *I SLEEP*
Man just the fact that i watched this in the year 2023 and i didn't know that its been finished a long time and i was still hoping for more season, that just sad
They started with the first opening, Yukitoki. Ended S2 with Yukitoki. And finally, ended the series with Yukitoki. It really shows how much meaning the beginning can hold for the end of it all.
4:05 Yukino looks like she is suffering a lot , fell bad for her
Exactly, Yui is tryna force Yukino to give up on Hachiman.
@@m1k3hh71 yeah..at least she's better than a girl(idk her name) from "white album2"
For those who are confused I ask ChatGPT on this and this is his answer:

The amount of subtext in this show....
Yui had the sadest heartbroken moment of all time even team Yukino cried that day from both victory and pitty on poor yui
Nah fuck Yui. She's just a pathetic character
True bro 😭
That final note with the piano followed by the episode's title and Yui saying, "Okay. Let's hear it." will always bring me to tears. 🥲😭
It was at this moment, this one moment that I realized that this anime would echo in my heart forever
I can’t get over how pretty Yukino’s voice is
That's Saori Hayami. My favourite voice actress.
Then the Coronavirus struck and Yui, Yukino and Hachiman had to go to quarantine and wait before the could continue with their love story. Looking forward for the 3rd season.
After finished this series for like 3 or 4 times. Im just realize that 2:50-2:54 is goddamn beautiful
what does it means ?
.
Yeah, I didn't caught that Yui was shaking, but man... details
WHAT DOES IT MEANNNNNN
The numbers mason, what do they mean?
A psychological proof: why Yui is not selfish but selfless
at 04:08 when Yukino was going to give in to her proposal, a selfish mind would have brimmed with joy because she knew that was going to seal her deal with Hikigaya.
But just see her expression. She is not happy seeing Yukino losing to her introvertedness and once again saying a lie that she doesn't believe inside. She wanted to stir up a situation to force Yukino out of her shell and waiting to see if she rejects her offer which finally Hachiman did. He too is not very comfortable in situations like this, but in critical moments, he opens up the cellotape from his mouth and speaks for Yukino (he saved her earlier too when work was piling up on her due to council president's negligency)
Yui just wanted to break the suffocation in the group that was getting worse and complicated due to unsaid words between each other and taking them far away from genuinity just to preserve the fragile sweet trio vives that has no future unless one accepts a relationship between any two of them and moves on.
At the end, we all know what happened at the park during sunset when she heard from him "Somehow, I don't want to stop associating myself with Yukinoshita"
That was the last hammer on all her remaining hopes and a confirmation of Hikki's feelings from Hikki himself.
I freaking love this anime I’m in tears I only just recently had got into it it’s a masterpiece but also depressing at the same time 😢
So by take it all she means that she want the three’s relationship to stay together and she wants to have an intimate relationship Hachiman and wants everything to last forever..
Today's the day boys!! And girls!! The Season 3 Episode 1 will be uploaded within a few hours from now. The Beginning of the end is near my friends. This anime aired during my first year in highschool and it's now ending during my last year in highschool. Let us all watch this is watch how they accomplish each other's requests. We want somethings genuine!!
It’s not the ending tho
God help Yui. I want Yui x Hikki.
Oregairu is an anime full of hidden meanings........
Hachiman saved Yui's dog, that lead him to unfortunate accident, which makes her wanna "sorry and thanks".
I don't know what she intended to do later, but we know it made her loves him now.
>mfw all of this realization just went it all after Hachiman's "Yui Yuigahama is a nice girl" bias. What a golden show.
Classic love triangle and not wanting to ruin friendships

You all might say 8man rejects Yui's proposal because he doesn't want something fake.
But to me, since the first time I watched S2 few years ago.
It was also partly because of 8man's sentiment to Yukino.
he is actually in love with yukino from the start. here is just him overcoming his past trauma and slowly regaining his confidence. he doesnt want to compromise and hide anymore.
I hope there's a season 4
Yui is trying to take over Yuki problem (her feeling to hikki) just mean want Yuki give up on her love. But thankfully to Yukki to make they choose their own way to solve their problems.

And today is the day for season 3 SNFAU
Heck yea it is
This drama is interesting, I can't said it's the best romance but , they don't said anything straight forward but every romantic conversation and appearance carried a riddle which make this show interesting, do you agree?
Damn I like the black haired girl
who here after this amazing anime finished, what a beautiful ending
Regarding where the situation between them going to, I really appreciate the fact that Hachiman helped Yukino to become her stronger self, more like to the good part of her old self just like Haruno pointed out (Before befriended with Yui, Yukino would have go for Hachiman without a care of Yui’s feelings)
At the meantime (LN SPOILERS), Yukino also helped Hachiman in her own way, to the point that she went as far as push him away, to think that she’d be okay if she took time, and that Yui can go out with Hachiman while having Yukino as best friend like she wished.
I love Wataru Watari.
where can i read LN of oregairu?
I agree also this moment changed my perspective
Where can i read LN of oregairu?

I really felt it all from this whole vid ;-;
One of the best scenes of S2 aside from the genuine scene
No matter how many times I watch this scene I don't understand...
What is their problem?
same to me , haha maybe they had explanation in season 3
If u want, u can read the spoil about vol 14( ss3)
@@thanhnguyenxuan9724 sorry but can you explain to me here ?
At last, yukino and hachiman become “partner”.
It's one of those indirect romance animes.Where there is romance but in inside.Cant procced it through outside.
lets go im here after watching the first episode of season 3
2 day left.... For s3...kyaa.....
Yui & yukinoshita : we still have your
request
hachiman: *smile menacingly* 😏😏
This is peak romance imo, and not everyone gets it and that’s fine
Please, what's the OST in 05:30? Is it "Replica"?
Its the second op , Everyday World
jk not op i meant ed
All the gangsters right now sad af
Kray Man tô chorando com esse toque de fundo aí 😭😭
Is just just me or is the video really bright? Even when I turn down the brightness
This is the single greatest scene in all anime. It is, in my opinion, a direct continuation from Vegeta's legendary sacrifice against Buu.
「最後の相談は私たちのこと」っていう本質が分かりづらいセリフを翻訳したらto fix our problems になるのか。やっぱ文化の違いが翻訳にも表れるんやね。
"I'll be left with nothing"
Sensei best girl
The way he ignores her feelings is amazing
who is her?
@@rect5286 Yui ofcourse
If she kept wearing the dog collar he bought her maybe there could have been a possibility that she won
(Props to Yui)
My only question for them, (why didn't you confessed earlier when the main heroine still didn't appeared, but alas, I know the author knows the answer) they're part of the plot to begin with
Damn! if your here you know what I’m talking about
ITS NOT THE FINAL CONVO BECAUSE ITS COMING BACK FOR SEASON 3 VERY SOON!!! WOO!
when?
