For those who don't know the difference between velocity and speed. Velocity is a vector quantity which means it has a magnitude and direction while speed is a scalar quantity with only a magnitude.

I watched this roughly a month prior to my first Physics class, and I'm glad I did, I had a basic grasp of the concept and I didn't seem as foolish as those frantically taking in information. You have a very simplistic teaching style, which I love and your voice is very articulate. Thank you.

this is my first video watching him and omg what a sweetie!! ☺☺💕💕 just so pure, hes a really effective communicator, just a really kind patient understanding teacher, like I'm so glad he decided to stay out of the educational system, and just teach freely, because hes helping more people by letting them choose to listen to him as he freely just teaches. like wow society perpetuates the misconception that learning is hard or bad but everyone who's here chose to be here, with the simple motive to learn and expand our minds!!! how pure are we??? omg I love us lol

Technically, d is displacement. It is almost the same as distance, however it takes into effect the direction of movement also. Eg. From here to there might be 100m. so if you were to go from here to there to here again, you've moved a distance of 200m. But your displacement is 0m since you're in the same point that you started in. Displacement is used more than distance, since that allows us to use the SUVAT equations in Mathematic Mechanics and Physics.

Im 13. I want to be a theological physicist. All the research i have done on physics its very diffucult to understand becasue the "teachers" online assume i have had previous lessons. This video is very helpful.

as far as I can remember, the symbol for speed is v, and the symbol for velocity is v with an arrow above it to indicate that velocity is a vector quantity (with direction)

Love this! You have a new subbie, I need to get the fundamental and understanding of physics firts because my class is killing me so I thought I'd start from scratch so I can better understand and you just hit the spot!

Hold up, you do physics tutorials!??! I watched you on html and javascript and I'm now almost a full time programmer in various languages as you were my starting point, but for my studies in physics you're here to help me too!?? Love you, really do!

thank you so so so much. it's really less complicated than it seems. my teacher sucks, she just keeps throwing us hard problems when we havent even understood the topic yet

This helped so much. I'm about to be a junior in high school, and I was quite nervous about taking physics because I was never really superb in science, however I think I will be ahead in my class now that I've found, I guess u can say, a tutor.

Velocity is a vector quantity with respect to direction while speed doesn't and is a scalar.

Randomly decided that Astronomy and Astrophysics was very interesting. I dont even have a diploma, but for some reason i cant seem to get enough of learning this type of amazing and interesting information. I could care less if i become an Astronaut or an actual Astrophysicist for that matter, space is to amazing to not want find out more!

Everyone in his comment section is literally just bragging that they understand this at a very young age and already wanna have a career in physics but this is literally the basic things that you have to know about the subject and is there’s nothing even close to hard about it so anyone SHOULD be able to understand this

I love your tutorials, but I have to tell that at time 0 the forward speed of the watermelon is not 0, but it is 10m/s! That's because it is on a plane going forward at 10 m/s, and this is why the forward speed will remain the same (10 m/s) until the watermelon drops on the ground. Anyway thank you for your big help! I am a graduate in physics overseas and I am learning how to say every word in English through your tutorials =)
