The OG stick enthusiasts know that you've always been super transparent with us and that your training has been evolving over the years - lots of different tried and tested workouts, full of countless golden tidbits for us to try out for ourselves - it's always been about our goals! You've inspired a generation of lifters horsecocking weight around in their rats nest to become as succulent as possible - you're the man!! 👑👑
Been binging on Rick's vids of the last two years over the last couple of days, they just make me laugh so much plus give me exquisite tidbits... 900lbs trap bar lift...blood pressure PR's....count succulent... Just thanks Rick.
It sounds like bro science cause of his delivery, but the man actually knows his stuff. He's got a degree in kinesiology and I'm sure a lot more add on ones and has also trained people at a high level. Also, this guy has tested all of these theories about strength training on himself, so it's generally best to listen to the people with actual real world experience.
There's a million different ways to get strong lol. Back when I started watching your videos I deadlifted 4-5 times per week and put 100 lbs onto my max conventional in 3 months. Stuck to that training style for a year or two. Now I have a powerlifting coach and my training is insanely high volume with lots of accessory work. I'm still getting stronger over time. I think the real value of your channel is that no matter how you train, it's the intensity and mentality towards training that matters. And also gomad is a sick way to put on loads of mass lol. You've helped me see that lifting heavy is a gift and something that should be enjoyed. You're the man Ricky
I agree with this. You don't need many accessories until you get stuck. I got my deadlift to 660 without any accessories, just deadlifting off the floor. Then it stuck there so I started doing deficit deadlifts and started getting stronger again. But still try to keep the accessories as strength specific as possible.
Ricky first of all I wanted to say that your advice has changed my life. I began my journey through your channel with the video ENOUGH! JUST DO THIS... and I´ve been a fan ever since. I cant stress enough how that video was life changing, some people might say I´m over exaggerating but no I´m not. Before I stumbled upon that video I was lifting for like a year or two but I have never seen any real progress, mostly because I just wasnt giving it my all and that was mainly caused by bad advice. Stuff like ,,Dont overtrain yourself you´re gonna lose muscle mass´´ or ,,Your training plan is bad try mine instead´´ etc... And somehow that stuck with me for a very long time, but yet I have always felt that this just cant be right, why do I have to train like 4 days a week at most? I didn´t feel that it was enough and I did a lot of searching but i didn´t find much to support my thoughts. But then one day as I said I stumbled upon your video and with that I began my new journey. First I tried your philosophy on my bench press which was severely lacking and I went from 50kg (110lbs) to 100kg (225lbs) in just a few months. And this just confirmed it for me, that I have never been doing enough and with that me and some of my friends decided to make our own home gym. Which in the beginning was just a bench, very small barbell and like 75kgs (165lbs) of weights. We lifted in a barn with dirt floor and we had to learn clean and jerks since there was not enough weight to deadlift. And after some time we saved up some money for more weights and a power rack. Fast forward to now we have enough weights to do any excercise (except like some heavy rackpulls lol) two barbells, trapbar and a lot more. So the people that give you shit for I dont even know what to be honest, are just plain stupid or trolls. And second, thanks man for making those videos for all of us, they have truly helped me when the times were rough, either they cheered me up or gave me another good advice Thank you Eric.
I hadn’t really tuned into Eric in a while but God Damn! Even his face looks different to me. I dunno if it’s the bloat or he’s actually gained muscle in his face. Not only is his voice deeper but he sounds like he’s choking on his tongue when he’s talking
I have a huge monitor and watching Sticky Ricky on full screen makes me feel like he's in front of me giving a personalized advice. Highly recommend to get a huge monitor.
You are the stick man. No need to explain yourself. Everyone is different facing their own challenges and goals. Love the honesty and appreciate the advice. Thank you 🫡
Eric, you said in the 2016 issue of Men's Health that you should never wear Psycho Pharma apparel due to its harmful impact on pencil necked teens. Would you like to make a follow-up statement?
Glad to see you're happy man, I think I started watching you about 6 years ago and I'm 21 now. Holy shit that seems like such a long. Even cooler to see you in WWE I watched that in bits and pieces growin up and it's cool to see life come full circle. Thanks brosef
hey thanks for this eric. i really liked how you mentioned there’s many approaches and multiple goals for fitness. i’ve always had to keep my work capacity and cardio at a higher level for my jobs. the bulgarian just didn’t work for me but THE MINDSET always did
What the Boog is saying is that we have 3 level to pull when it comes to training, frequency, volume, and INTENSITY! He has had the intensity full blast and now he’s shifting into a higher volume block to facilitate soft tissue recovery and aesthetics.
Gotta change things up, not just if your goals change but just to keep things interesting. Lately I've been adding farmers walks after I'm done Zecher squatting. Something about that combo hits me like a truck.
Natural Hyperthrophy made a video about your way of training years ago and why it works for you and he literally nailed everything in this video down to the last detail, kinda funny to see.
I’m glad you mentioned a second workout of the day. You can cover all of your bases if you do the first workout more muscular/strength training and the second workout more mobility and cardio focused.
The fact people are commenting about the whole 'one exercise' thing just further illustrates that they missed the entire point. They need to spend some time rewatching those videos and actually listening.
The only time I've done 1 exercise only is when I did a big PR on deadlifts (pretty taxing) and I'm already tired from work. Very rare. Just do whatever feels best for you and to hit your goals. Things change. Autoregulation is the final red pill when it comes to training.
2 years ago I started centering my workouts around bench, deadlifts, and squats, and would cycle them every 3 days. My numbers have gone up tremendously and I have put on 45 pounds of muscle. Focusing on the big compound movements helped me so much and I only have sticky ricky to thank for it! Best thing to do as a natural if u want to get big
I’ve been having a hard time hitting the like button after these vids cus my brain explodes and it takes me a couple minutes to recoup from these golden tidbits. Now I just smash the like button before to combat that from happening, hope this helps anyone else
I made up this move called headlockers You pretty much stand facing the cable stack and work the movement of throwing your adversary in a headlock really focusing on the squeeze and hold When I combine it with some flys i can feel my upper middle pecs POPPIN (my pecs butt crack) Like the Stick, I do what i want if its effective I dont care what the standard is or who set it and i dont give a bees beehive what it looks like as long as the results are there
I've been doing 3 heavy training days of two lifts. So squat and bench. Trying to pr every session. And I work 5 days a week and get an hour break. Got a membership at the gym near my job and workout volume and accessory nonsense for 40 minutes on my lunch break. Twice a week I train heavy after-work. And on Saturday every week heavy.
Everything is situational, folks. The Stick 10 years ago was in a different position than the WWE Stick is today. The fact of the matter is the Stick lifts with focus and he doesn’t play around in the gym with shit that doesn’t help him meet his goals.
Ive been working with a trainer for the last 2 months on my Squat Deadlift and Bench. Making some serious newbie gains after breaking my wrist and taking 2 years off of training. The amount of knowledge you dropped in the last 5 minutes of this video makes the last 2 months of my personal trainer talking to me seem worthless. Don't know if you have the time to coach or not, you've certainly got the talent. Have a great weekend :)
All that I know is that Eric's mindset took me over 3 years ago at 15 at my local commercial gym. Now at 18 I have my own garage gym and a 660lb deadlift and can't seem to get rid of wearing a cap backwards and making my neigbours question if I am still alive.
You’re our real good friend stick del hagen. Don’t sweat it. You experiment , we listen. Research evolves , and our horsecoc- I mean muscles get more juicy stacked and jacked.
Training soviet style is the best thing I ever did, overloading heavy weights with high volume week on week with breaks every 6-8weeks I have seen massive increases in size, strength and power. When I started doing it I gained 27kg on my back squat, 22kg on my front squat, 30kg on my push press, and I am currently experimenting with it on my bench, the other day I took 80% of my 1RM for an easy 6x6
The fact Eric had to explain this shows how low the bar is on platforms like UA-cam. Seriously, these kids are either trolling or the human race is devolving . I weep for the future 😂🤣😢
