There's a lot of dislike for Dan on social media compared to other contestants but I love him!
I like him too. Hope he stays a while longer. He must be popular to get to Week 8 without having been in the dance off yet.
Compared to the rest, he's just nowhere near the expected level. Yeah he's nice but it's unfair to keep him in while sending the talented dancers out in my opinion

Loved this more lighthearted take on a street commercial! On another note, Nadiya seems to be absolutely loving it this year, her personality is shining in through more than ever, she’s adorable!
Wow. That was actually really nice for Nadiya's first Couple's Choice. This is the dance where it seems Dan is truly dancing as a true partner to Nadiya. He put a lot more confidence into it. He was really enjoying it and thinking through inhibitions a lot less. He felt more a support for Nadiya, I'll say. I think this is one of his better dances. Underrated, it's gonna be.

Okay…so there are clearly better dancers in the competition at this point, but none of them makes me smile quite as much as Dan does. He’s adorable, kind and clearly has fun. His partnership with Nadiya is so sweet. I’m glad they’re through to next week.

Really didn’t expect this song choice tbh but this was the first time I felt I saw Dan feeling comfortable on the dance floor which helped me to enjoy this more. I do felt it fizzed but didn’t explode. I get a couples choice routine can be anything that the couple would like but it also needs to leave something for the viewers and the judges. This for me was quite a forgettable couples choice however it was danced pretty well!

This was adorable which may not be the right approach for street dance. What I really want from Dan is a bit more aggression. He is such a gentle soul but it can make his dancing a bit 1 dimensional. Also, to perform more extrovertedly, he is always looking at Nadiya or inwardly. Share your dance with us too Dan! 7

This is just pure wholesomeness. I also don't think it was bad atal. I think its was a very usual blend of styles ect, but it actually really suited him. I also don't think he missed a step. It had some really lovely moments. I really enjoyed seeing Dan, do what he wanted and seeing him really enjoy it. Watching it back again, i dont think Nadia was giving him much cues on what he had to do or where he had to be, if anything they are singing the song to each other and they were dancing together. Really do appreciate Dan in this 👌

Maybe he's not a great dancer, maybe there's mistakes but I really enjoy it. That what's couple's choice for, to the celeb feel more confident and free and give the same feeling to the viewers. I definitely felt it. Great job, Dan!

Can I ask a question, why exactly did Strictly change the Couple's Choice routines? I mean, compared to when it was just Contemporary, Street and Jazz, it all seems to out of nowhere and there isn't really a rough idea of what to look out for, and all the judges can really say is which parts they liked and which parts they didn't like. This just isn't really sitting with me.
I agree now the judges just score on own personal taste. perfect example John and JOJO rumba If that had been called their couples choice it would have been 40 but as a technical Rumba its 35.

@@henrymanley4116 As far as I remember the couple's choice is pretty recent. I think they didn't have musical theatre jazz until maybe 3 years ago. But I think hip hop/street has been included for no more than 2 years. But this is just off the top of my head
@@TigerPrawn_ No, the couples choice was first introduced to Strictly in 2018, where the couples could choose to do either Contemporay, Street Commercial, or Theatre Jazz, but this year, it just feels like too early of a showdance if you know what I mean.

It's interesting because I thought she'd make use of the new 'couple's choice' approach to design something more suited to his strengths. This seems less designed with Dan in mind.

I feel like the storytelling brought me into the dance for me! Was it top-tier execution, NOO! However, I do think that without a doubt this is one of his better dances. However, as we are at the half-way point, I feel like Dan's days are numbered and it kills me to say that. If he does goes to next week, him and Nadiya needs to bring out a strong performance like this to avoid the dance-off. GET IN!!!!

Well Dan tried really hard and he was definitely enjoying himself on that stage. Obviously not completely brilliant and I hope he is not in the dance off. I can say he is improving every week! He was very good at some parts in this dance! I’ve grown to like him as a person and he’s just so charming. Well done! 👏🏽

Watching this dance you can understand why Adam Peaty's mum is upset that her son was in the dance off and lost. All I can think is that the voting public see Dan Walker as their 2021 answer to John Sergeant.

The first time someone actually did a (lyrical) commercial routine (other than Rhys) for their Couple's Choice and Craig annoyingly chooses this time to question what dance style they did.
i.....you think this is....lyrical? This is bouncy street commercial party dance thing (i dont actuallythink its a genre but like a mix of genres). Defintiely not lyrical
@@bellac6311 I think it's a lyrical version of commercial dance rather than the just the lyrical dance style itself. Lyrical Street was often performed on SYTYCD and routine reminded me of that style.

There were timing issues, and there could of been a bit more physical energy put into it, but it was wonderful!

I'm not a big fan of the Couple's Choice, especially since it's more like a showdance nowadays were it can literally be any style and they don't even tell us what they're going for. In this case, I thought this was the most animated we've seen Dan, especially as the dance went on. He had a groove which he managed to maintain and the timing and synchronising was pretty immaculate so I would say it's his best dance. He could've exaggerated all the moves more though and performed outwards towards the audience. The thing with Dan is that his dances are always clean and presentable but never have the wow factor and I really don't see him ever managing that. This was just so much easier than the other routines we saw tonight so he shouldn't really be competing with them. For what it was, it was well done.

Not sure what to think of this. Dan is such a gentleman but it was like he was trying to be Harry Styles like a teenager? I also feel like Nadia doesn't push him that much to get better. Maybe she already seen he can't do the harder dance moves. Felt abit strange but sweet still hes just a nice person from top to toe.

Well I hate Street its one of the worst dances and the worst dance on strictly, if I had to street on strictly I would definitely give it the approach giving in this one, more sweet and light and I did like them taking the tik tok dance of this song because I prefer the tik tok sort of dancing to street, because Idk anything about street I don't really know what to look for apart from timing and footwork and it looked like his timing was pretty good and the footwork had some nice swag and rhythym and as a performance it was very nice to watch the Hollywood theme was fun and it was entertaining but I think his time should be up and when he returns to proper dancing he will struggle again. *8/10* maybe abit generous but I really enjoyed the sweet feel of street they have brought to strictly

I prefer him over Sara Davies but he’s definitely got maybe a few more weeks left. The competition is so good this year.

Wtf is Dan Walker still in? He is without doubt the weakest remaining dancer. It supposed to be a dance competition people, not a popularity contest.

I didn't enjoy this dance at all! It belonged to a local school talent show at best, that how the choreography was dull, not intricate and not special. Dan's execution was very heavy and not really enthusiastic. I can also appreciate the fact that he was in sync with Nadiya all the through and that he actually tried to dance (as opposed to Sara's Couple's Choice routine where she was just walking most of the time). The only classic thing in this routine was the fact that for me it was a pretty classic fail... My score (and I might be a tad harsh): a 4.
I like Dan, as he is a Christian, who sticks to his principles. But I think he'll be leaving tonight.
