    I would love to win a cutting of either! In SE Texas and have just been (really) getting into gardening. Our sweet Mom passed away a few years ago & she always talked about picking figs all Summer long at her grandparents home and how they were “just like candy”. ☺️ Your channel makes me think of her. Thanks for all you do! 🙂

    I'm right up the road from you in Fayetteville, NC. I'm just starting my fig orchard and I purchased a few this season, Olympian, Chicago hardy and Celeste. They are in containers but I will plant them in the ground this spring. I would love to expand my orchard with a unique variety. Thanks for your hard work Phil for making great videos.

    I would like a cutting of the White Madeira fig. I live in Cleveland, Ohio and this is my first year of propagating my own cuttings and growing figs in pots. I have 30 plants (went a little nuts) that did wonderfully for me this year, and with most in 7 gallon pots, I am scrambling to figure out their winter homes. However, I have made plans to plant at least 7 in ground next year. The White Madera would be a welcome addition to my fig fam.

    Heck yeah man really great video. Always appreciate your stuff. Sounds like my season is similar to yours - here in dallas. Add to that, that most of my trees are first year trees. I’m having all sorts of mixed confusion in what they’re doing. But I still have a bunch ripening now. I’m down to two hours of sun on them though. Hope they make it. Whatever is ripening is very yummy though.
    Congrats on the subscribers and the nursery. Keep on rocking brotha!

      Glad to know you're still ripening figs there. Yea it's an interesting time for figs right now as they decide whethey they want to go dormant or want to push through and ripen a few more figs before winter!

    • @edslim718
      @edslim718 4 дні тому

      @ yeah for real. And I almost feel bad. I’m probably going to take a few plants indoors to let them finish. My house is going to be like a jungle. I’ll share the results of a ripening angelito outside at this time of year vs the ones ripening inside have a night and day difference. The indoor angelito wins every time. It’s hitting brix readings of over 30 about 50% of the time. The outdoor one still taste good, but you can tell it’s fighting a battle out there. The skin is WAY harder. Normal for this time of year outside, but my indoor one isn’t doing that ;-)

    • @Philsfigs
      @Philsfigs  22 дні тому +1

      It'll be interesting as here in NC generally we are safe from building any protection for our figs unless we have that 10 year cold snap that can really stress them.

      I am in central Alabama so hot, humid summers. What do you suggest for watering. I had a very difficult time this year keep my pots from going hydrophobic. I am planning for hook up a drip line for this next season. I have considered a drip pan but was concerned about the roots being to wet. Any guidance would be appreciated:)

    • @Philsfigs
      @Philsfigs  18 днів тому

      @@barbaraannewer6320 Hey Barbara for your location you're still going to want to water every day in June and July for your potted figs. Then as the fig season begins and you start to ripen your figs you can do it a little less often (as the heat burns off some too) to every other day or more. Keeping watering consistent will be helpful for the figs to manage water uptake as well!
