Many points need to be corrected. I will not talk about military matters. Regarding the issue of electricity, there is only one power station in Gaza that covers 20% of the population’s need for electricity. Of course, Gaza has no way to obtain oil, gas, or foodstuffs except from Israel and Egypt. Israel has cut off all supplies to the Gaza Strip and any supplies that come from Egypt. It cannot be entered except with approval from the Israeli side. The other matter regarding the residential towers is that they are entirely civilian, but Israel’s destruction of them is a collective punishment for the residents of the Gaza Strip, and this has been known for a long time. The Gaza Strip is the most densely populated area in the world. Any military action, even if limited, leads to a large number of civilian deaths.
They use the vast network of tunnels to obtain everything. They even lead into Egypt..

When the dust settles, Israel, Gaza, and the international community must hammer out a final pact. Either a one state where the Gazans are absorbed by Israel as equal citizens. OR the rise of the state of Palestine with defined boundaries on current control with no prejudice for the 1967 border issue to be solely decided by referendums of the residents on a set future date. There should be mutual recognition of each state. Any further conflict will be viewed hence as a conflict between states.

Both solutions are exactly what Tel Aviv doesn´t want to happen. Israel is defined as the "Jewish State" and integrating so many Arabs would endanger that status. On the other hand, the Israeli government (spurned on by the ultra right) wants to get as much land of the biblical Israel under its control and settle Jewish people there. This ambiguous state of the Palestinian territories, which allows for many small land grabs is in Tel Aviv´s interest.

Hamas is sacrificing its soldiers and their loved ones. They must know that they cannot be victorious. Israel has always punished forces, which are disposed to threaten them, with standoff weapons. So far, Israel has responded the same way this time. However, if Netanyahu feels the pressure to finish off Hamas (and destroy Gaza as a consequence) once and for all, he will have to fight for Gaza like the Russian/Wagner forces fought for Bakmut in Ukraine. If the Israelis lose 20,000 dead and 30,000 wounded while doing so, it could inspire other mujahadeen in Lebanon and Syria to make the same sacrifice as the Gazans would have. And the Abraham Accords would be a dead letter.

I would not be surprised if the US triggered this. They have started disliking Netanyahu some time ago, this war might move the Israeli people against a hard hand and for concessions to the Palestinians, thereby toppling the extreme right-wing government. Probably correct. Then again, if Hezbollah influence and aid has been pivotal in arming and training, they may not necessarily be needed. They very well could want to keep this between Israel and Hamas. Should outside forces enter, then all bets are off. As for Israeli tanks, Hamas may be waiting for them to approach to within reach. In other words, they may be trying to force the Israelis to enter a 'cauldron'. One would assume that Hamas has many ATGMs at their disposal and the special units to utilize them. This could get really ugly fast and not just for Hamas that will be facing Israeli armor. That armor may be Israels undoing, much like in Lebanon/2006. How will Hamas utilize captured Israeli heavy weapons? Can they use them effectively? This conflict is a long time coming and the west is as much to blame as Israel. It remains to be seen as to the effectiveness of the training Palestinians received. One thing is sure, Israel does not do well when faced with an effective fighting force. They usually end up getting outside help, be that intel, weapons or special ops...much like Ukr.

This is a good question. What did Hamas aim to achieve? They captured many villages and cities very fast, but did they plan to hold on to them? Do they have the logistics to keep their forces supplied? Could this be more about gaining local support from Palestinians? I guess we will have to wait and see.
