hi, the brown coolant is sometimes because theres no antifreeze in the coolant, its brown because of rust in the coolant water. best to do a flush of the cooling system
I suspect the front of your frame is bent, Mike. I'm thinking that the impact pushed on the passenger side of the frame and in turn, pushed the driver's side out on the front. Also, LMC truck has new body parts for your truck...
Mike, the front seats on your year ram are interchangeable, you can use the passenger seat as the drivers seat. Both use the same frames and mounting, they are just reversed, look at the inside of your passenger seat and then look at the door side of the drivers seat, you will see the same mounting locations for the levers on your drivers seat. You might be able to find a good passenger seat at the wrecking yard.
You might want to do a dry run dash removal at the u-pullit salvage yard. It'll take a couple to three hours so budget accordingly. You can get a look at the HVAC box to see what you're getting into. I bought the HVAC box from my dry run truck, because it looked to be in really decent shape. I loaded it out with new actuators, a new evaporator core, and a new heater core... working an hour at a time here and there during the week. With that done I had a heater box ready to rock and roll without tearing the truck apart. I had nasty visions of of crusty crunchy foam seals that would cost me a week or two to find & replace with the truck in pieces in my garage. I just didn't want to have the truck and shop down that long. Having a built out hvac box ready to install let me do the R&R just under 7 hours. It's darn nice to be able to start reinstalling stuff while the tear down is fresh in your mind. The dash itself tends to be a little fragile so you need to be careful of it. It's not just the outer cover. The inner structure can be brittle in places. This is where already doing the removal on a junk truck comes in handy. You probably ought to have a careful assistant help you lift it out and back in.
Monkey Wrench Mike, before tackling the heater core and dash removal I would try a small bottle of K-Seal. I had to do it go my 2005 Ford F150 XLT 4x4 that got a small heater core leak. It literally fogged the whole inside the truck and lost all heat. So I followed the instructions to the letter and guess what?? It worked, going on year 2 now. Just a thought.
Hopefully an alignment will fix the steering. If it's not too cold, you could bypass the heater core for now. I'm sure your new friend at Maaco could fix the bumper alignment. Might need a small pull on one or both frame rails.
Also Dixie Custom Trucks was out of Shreveport, Louisiana. They painted custom fades, custom body work, fender flares, side skirts, custom interiors and highback seats. Some of their stuff was wild for the time. Very similar to Choo Choo Customs of the era. They did custom trucks for years. Like late 80s to right around your trucks age. Might even be one of the last ones. The business that is in that building now is called Dealers Truck Equipment. They use the exactly same phone number 😂 might even be the same owner just switched business models. Same style of work but for commercial trucks and same building.
I did say the front of that chassis/frame looked bent. Apparently the front of the chassis on this generation of Ram is rather weak compared to same age Fords and GM products and is very often badly bent in fairly minor impacts. I suspect this one will need pulling to straighten up and that's really a job for a professional, sadly.
Watched the full video in full length, enjoyed truck and bike content. As I have said before I wouldn’t go searching for bike content although love watching your videos Mike and also the evolution content of electric bikes. Those brake likes are cool
Maybe someone installed a salvage passenger seat on the drivers side - and what would go in that plastic thing on the seat side was an armrest or pivot point for a fold down center console.
I like that bike. I was concerned when you were on the leaves. Had the worst bike wreck of my life on wet leaves. Manual bike, coaster brake. Hit the brakes going downhill and flew over the handlebars. That was no fun at all.
The problem with the plastic in the radiator is you can get a crack, or where the plastic meets the metal it leaks. I just had to replace the radiator on my Toyota because it was failing where the plastic meets the metal. Many years ago I had cracked plastic on a radiator. A custom radiator shop made me a custom, all brass one that fit for about the same price.
Oof, the parts. needed are piling up quick! You may have to bite the bullet for the more pricey places like LKQ to find the body parts you're looking for if you're trying to avoid a paint job. Dunno how much the paint job cost on the Mercedes wagon, but it looks quality & expensive! The bike looks great! It looks like it's one of the nicest ones you've reviewed!
Hi Mike! I would highly suggest you take the truck to a body shop with the I - CAR frame straightening machine. My guess is the right front frame rail is pushed back a bit. The I CAR can pull and twist the frame back to factory specs. I would do that before replacing the heater core. Great video!!!!!!
Mike the front frame horns are bent or out of alignment, it will not cost that much to fix it plus a front end alignment. 3.0 hours on the frame plus set up.
Sometimes it's cheaper to buy parts online. American Muscle (for trucks) were very helpful. Some nice fiberglass fenders & hoods. Perhaps bumpers, lift kits, or lowering kits .. :) Have fun, make it awesome!
Mike I was dying laughing at the start of the video with your duck looking back and forth at the truck and then you like he was saying not another lost cause Mike not another one!!!! You need to clip that few seconds of video and save it for comedy relief. 😂😂😂😂😂🤠
Hi Mike the coolant isnt Dex cool it was a mopar type of coolant the coolant that works on al makes and model will work no problem, It not going to break the dashboard
Temporary fix for your leaky heater core is to plumb in a shut-off valve inline on the heater hose where it goes through the firewall, not pretty or correct but at least it would be driveable until you can get the parts and time to fix it right.
Actually the brown hue to the antifreeze usually means it was mixed with another brand and color and if not taken care of it turns to sludge. Ask me how I know
Enjoyed the mixed content in this video. That was just rust in your cooling system, might want to give that a few flushes to clear it out of the block. Would love to see more content on the pick-a-part visits, as we don't have them in the UK, makes a change from Co-Part. Please do get yourself a bike helmet, the e-bike looked nice, but probably illegal over this side of the pond, but makes a change from the Car Vertical ads you see on other channels, and was nice to see a bit of Tulsa. Have a great day!
As a big fan i feel cheated by having to watch electric bike content ,i must admit i do not watch your bike videos and i like that you separate the two, unless there is footage of you falling off ,that would be funny
The dash removal, heater core, and blend doors work will be great content to watch! If you want to sell the bike to me Mike it will go a long way towards parts for the truck!!
I hope u see this, Mike. There's a video on UA-cam of a Brit who managed to get a mould of a '56 Gullwing and used the bottom half of a year 2000 SL to make a new Gullwing! The wheelbase is exactly the same, unbelievably!
Please please make a detailed video on the dash and blend door replacement. I have a 2003 ram 1500 with the 5.9 and my heat doesn't work and the dash is cracked. I've been looking for parts but afraid to take it apart because it our only vehicle..
Hello Mike, do you know how much that bike weights? My current ebike weights 75lbs with 4 inch wide tires. BTW, I used to live in Tulsa back in my Spartan School of Aeronautic days as a student and then flight instructor from 1988-94.
Hi Mike, sucks that the heater core is bad, but I'm sure you can remove the dash and replace the parts. I've seen you tackle tougher jobs. I hope you don't plan on including bikes in any more of your car video's. I'll just leave it at that... ✌
Afternoon Mike I love that Electric bike Mike I love to have it sorry About all the work your dodge Ram needs anyway thanks for letting me se the Electric bike it beautiful thanks for the video
Pretty sure those are Bushwacker Extend-A-Fender Matte Black Front Fender Flares or something similar. Probably very hard to find in a junk yard. $300 for 2 specific to front and or rear obviously. Paint to match also. If it isnt you could possibly take the other side off an have it scanned, reversed, and 3d printed. I dont know how much that would run though. Probably a lot more.
Hello Mike aka Monkey Wrench Mike. Working on the 2004 Ram 1500 4x4 . It's hard to find parts that you need a pull a part yard. You might try to come to Shreveport Louisiana and go to U Pull it.
A little disappointed you put the bike video in the middle of the truck video honestly I would have passed on this video if I would have known I hope in the future you keep these videos separate like before but keep up the great work on vehicle videos
Lmc Truck $109 for the grille paintable. Would be an easy tape and spray. Hood $189 plus $150ship. Maaco would do them cheap for ya. Easy work especially if you install.

Just love the brake lights on the bike and great paint Job. Look forward to seeing the Ram all fixed
no bike just truck
Agree
10:04 tf y'all on, the bike is right here
He does that again and no more watching .
@Latent_Ensurgency no bike show only show truck

Mike, I think that fender flare you're looking for is after market, you might not find it at the salvage yard, might have to get it new
It's a great video minus the bicycle content. 👍
You tricked me with that bike review in the middle!!!!
I skipped right over it. Tricked me too!
I'm almost afraid to say it, but the steering wheel alignment with the bumper/fender alignment does not bode well for having a straight frame.
Yes I agree it is not the same as the cheap stop leak stuff. K seal is much better.
Mike , It's a work truck and doesn't have to be perfect , just good running truck .
Hopefully an alignment will fix the steering. If it's not too cold, you could bypass the heater core for now. I'm sure your new friend at Maaco could fix the bumper alignment. Might need a small pull on one or both frame rails.

I like the pull apart yards! Interesting hunt for what ya need
but I notice one thing when you’re running that bike no helmet
I suspect the reason the bumper is shifted is the frame is tweaked and probably should have a frame machine session.
I did say the front of that chassis/frame looked bent. Apparently the front of the chassis on this generation of Ram is rather weak compared to same age Fords and GM products and is very often badly bent in fairly minor impacts. That hole in your dash is a sensor for the automatic day time light
🎉 Mikey throwing a curve ball to those car guys that hate the E-Bike reviews 😂😂😂
I just fast forwarded it 😁
@ i scanned it and then went back and watched it so more watch time for Mikey lol
Watched the full video in full length, enjoyed truck and bike content. As I have said before I wouldn’t go searching for bike content although love watching your videos Mike and also the evolution content of electric bikes. Those brake likes are cool

What happened to the Volvo wagon. I may have missed it. Kinda curious about it.
I like that bike. I was concerned when you were on the leaves. Had the worst bike wreck of my life on wet leaves. Manual bike, coaster brake. Hit the brakes going downhill and flew over the handlebars. That was no fun at all.
Nice e-bike and great video. Unfortunately, the e-bikes are way too expensive.
The inside looks great! Brand new
The problem with the plastic in the radiator is you can get a crack, or where the plastic meets the metal it leaks. I just had to replace the radiator on my Toyota because it was failing where the plastic meets the metal.
Many years ago I had cracked plastic on a radiator. A custom radiator shop made me a custom, all brass one that fit for about the same price.
Love the truck keep persisting it will come good
Cheers from AUS
Truck content and bike review content all in one, enjoyed the video!

It cost about $2k for labor ( base on labor rate in the US at $27.00 per minute) just to replace the heater core and evaporator and parts.
Keep it up Mike it will get there soon enough !
thats most likely leak stop in the coolant. Its been a problem for sometime.
You should be wearing a helmet Mike...
Can't blame u Mike for using a bicycle when the other vehicles are down.
You can center the steering wheel since you're going to remove a lot of the stuff make sure your tires are straight and put it back in the center 😊
Mike the front frame horns are bent or out of alignment, it will not cost that much to fix it plus a front end alignment. 3.0 hours on the frame plus set up.
Great video over all even bike too
Great video keep up the great work Mike
Hi Mike I don't usually watch your bike reviews but I must say that is a nice bike 👍
Sometimes it's cheaper to buy parts online. American Muscle (for trucks) were very helpful. Some nice fiberglass fenders & hoods.

I dozed off and woke up to a bike review!
Sorry I fast forwarded the bike review
You was not the only one
Hi Mike the coolant isnt Dex cool it was a mopar type of coolant the coolant that works on al makes and model will work no problem,
It not going to break the dashboard
nice mike i been waitting for this video love your channel
Free form jazz.. I dig it
Try some aluminum seal for the radiator or heater core aluma seal !
The Sport bumper does indeed look better on that truck 🫎
I Love Watching this Rebuild Series Hoping we get more :)
Temporary fix for your leaky heater core is to plumb in a shut-off valve inline on the heater hose where it goes through the firewall, not pretty or correct but at least it would be driveable until you can get the parts and time to fix it right.
I'm here for it 👍 Good luck Mike!
Sorry buddy good luck
Actually the brown hue to the antifreeze usually means it was mixed with another brand and color and if not taken care of it turns to sludge. Ask me how I know
Bendt frame?
Great video mike keep up the amazing job u do that bike looks amazing
bike goes fast.

The color of the bike is so coolllllll
Still getting those lines in the sky.
Did you find the cup holder yet?
You gotta love truck life🎉
i like the bike ... and if you peddle ... soon be warm mike ...
seen cars turn into water fountains from the dash with similar problem ..! 8/ 👍
The word you were looking for is tactile, not textile. lol. It's a work Ram, doesn't need to be perfect, just functional.
Nice truck Mike ! Luv it !
Yeah not big fan of the E-BIKE they are not worth the money just my opinion great video 😊
I thought you had that lumbar handle it the console of the truck. I thought I remember seeing it in your first video. Was that one broken?
You can buy exact match seat cover for 60.00 online
You tricked us with byc stuff in the middle of the truck 😂😂😂😂😂very wise n good workout 4 ya., huh....😂
Well i do like that bike
You need to tell Randy, he needs one. To use maybe he can lose a little weight. He was saying he was wanting to lose weight.
Reality. Sometimes you don’t have a 4 wheeled vehicle and have to go with the 2 wheeled vehicle
How about a separate video with a 1000 mile ebike road trip.
Great video
Nice bike, with an excellent frame and that's not the case with the ram, unfortunately. You don't know someone with a frame machine?
If you are going to keep the truck,Genos Garage has a large assortment of quality Dodge Ram parts
Hello Mike aka Monkey Wrench Mike. The Vanpowers e-bike is a great looking e-bike. I'll give the Vanpowers e-bike a rating of A +
Go ahead and change that belt while you have easier access🤔
Interesting: fixing a Ram, and reviewing an E-bike that is worth more than the Ram!
Hello Mike, do you know how much that bike weights? My current ebike weights 75lbs with 4 inch wide tires. BTW, I used to live in Tulsa back in my Spartan School of Aeronautic days as a student and then flight instructor from 1988-94.

Was somebody holding the camera for you
Great truck.

if you can drive it more than 15 miles it's better than new

Paint to match also. If it isnt you could possibly take the other side off an have it scanned, reversed, and 3d printed. I dont know how much that would run though. Probably a lot more.
I like the junk yard and the truck part of the video. I skipped the bike preview
No helmet Mike really, come on.
We want mozerady content please brother also nice truck
Mozerady? 😂
you might try the other magic words: a la peanut butter sandwiches!
Hello Mike aka Monkey Wrench Mike. Working on the 2004 Ram 1500 4x4 . It's hard to find parts that you need a pull a part yard. You might try to come to Shreveport Louisiana and go to U Pull it.

Just do what Randy would do,put stop leak in it and send it down the road
Lmc Truck $109 for the grille paintable. Would be an easy tape and spray. Hood $189 plus $150ship. Maaco would do them cheap for ya. Easy work especially if you install.
The frame could be bent
We don’t care about bike we want truck
