Hello Ranveer ji. My mom used to make Shalgam and I always enjoyed eating it. This lockdown season forced me to buy turnips as most other veggies were already bought by people. I never used to buy turnip, but maine le liye ki banaate hai. I followed your recipie and it was amazing. I also shared with my mom. And you were right, when I was peeling turnips it smelled a little pungent like the raddish. But banne ke baad mast si meethas aa gayi. I just tweaked a little bit. Jeere aur ghee ke tadke ke samay halka sa garam masaala daala aur fir shalgam ko cooker se nikaal ke mix karke paka liya. Bahut hi umda bana tha. Thanks.
Hey Ranveer, thanks for sharing the new style of cooking shulgum. Though, I was cooking my nani recipe which is like: chopping the turnips in small peice and adding ghee + tadka of cumin seeds and finely chopped tomatoes (adding default ingredients as turmeric, grinded coriander red & green chilies + salt)and adding the sugar to enhance the sweetness. Cook it on slow flame for 15-25 mins then mix it very well and when cooked in the end add some green coriander leaves. I'll try yours and can you share your feedback on my nani's recipe?

Made this today and turned out yummmm... did not have green garlic or garlic hence put in ginger garlic paste (negligible amount) and still turned out so good.. warm and lip smacking

Hi Ranveer.. Made this for dinner today. It was humbly rich and soothing.. Even my 3 yr old kid enjoyed it with prantha. I modified it a bit.. Added 1 small tomato , little garam masala and 2 spoons of sugar.

Main hamesha kacche shalgam e khadey as never liked sabzi. But have cooked using this recipe twice in a week and finished the whole sabzi in one go. Only twist was second time was that I baked shalgams along with potatoes and then followed the recipe as it is with addition of some peas. But amazing result both times.
My mom's recipe..cut.shalgam boil with salt nd turmeric...for tadka, Add chopped ginger in ghee with green chillies and simmer for few minutes add a dash of jaggery powder and coriander...bas pher wah ji wah lazzat...jannat ...swad malko aanna hai zarror

To my mind this is your no 1 recipe, we are from Multan originally and my Daadi (Mataji) used to make this with a touch of Gurh, served with naram chapati and your salad which is the crowning glory, the fewer ingredients the better. Bloody delicious!!
