My state. We never fished for bass, that was more of a southern thing, although it's grown since. You should have went for pike and musky up north. It's a very different wisconsin than where you were in this video.
Thank you for sharing! Great video and great fishing John!! Beautiful area! Welcome to WI. Have a good day and weekend and week ahead. Stay safe and God bless. Yes alot of fish is in wi.
I was there that weekend (not tournament fishing)and it was the coldest two nights since April and the fishing took a hit because of it. Fish were pretty scattered and if you were not in the right spot it was dink smallmouth, white bass and drum. Its a big challenging river to fish for sure.
Had a good morning yesterday.. caught 5 over 2lb in an hour and a half probably my best day ever... so far. Been learning how to find em, figure out what they like to eat and how to catch em... sometimes wish i had friends like you and yours to go with and learn from. God bless ya brother.
Man as a Georgia boy living in Wisconsin for ten years fishing up there was great small mouths everywhere, Pike, Muskie. My first time fishing I caught a large muskie I had never heard of them or seen them Pull him to the bank and saw what it was scared the living sht out of me.
You're in an area called the Baraboo Range - a buried mountain range in the middle of Wisconsin. Go a little further west and you're in the driftless area which is of course famous for its trout streams. Glad you had some luck 🙂 - I got skunked on the WI river couple weekends ago. But it was also real hot and the water is shallow. Hope you liked it here
Wisconsin waterways are sadly overgrown with vegetation from nitrogen and other runoff due to uncontrolled application of fertilizer by large corporate farms. I say this as a person born and raised there, fishing on northern WI lakes. Glad you had a good time nonetheless - even caught a walleye! Those come much bigger in deeper cooler waters. Pike - you need a leader man!
Hope you enjoyed WI! I love my state. such great fishing culture and history. We have it all from wonderful trout streams, big lakes and rivers with bass, walleye, muskie etc. to perch in GB (my favorite to fish and eat) salmon, trout, whitefish etc in Lake Superior and Michigan. and don't forget ice fishing!
That's a great place to fish. Your right outside my back door practically! I catch alot of big crappies right across from where you launched . Earlier in the year. There's alot od smallies to be caught under that hwy bridge
I wish I could ask you to visit Matt Nelson from NDYAk Angler while you are in his part of the country. He's a great guy and fishes rivers you would love I'm sure. Please try to reach out to him, as you are so close and this has been a wish of mine for a long time watching both your shows !!
John yes sir this river was born for you design for you bring home some hardware brother let’s goooooo! I really can’t wait for each day results be safe John keep your mindset on doing exactly what you need to do to keep yourself in position! Tight lines take care and God bless!
I appreciate all the videos you continue to put out. I grew up in the Signal Mountain area. I live on the Ga. Fla line now. And I really miss the fishing in that area. Stay safe and keep it up. I recently retired as a police officer here in south Ga and It make me happy every time I see you’ve posted a new video.
The challenges of Central Wisconsin rivers is trout in mid summertime, wily and elusive . Try St Croix watershed like Kininnick , Willow River , Rush, Trim belle for brown and rainbow trout from May to late September
To help you land pike you could tie on a steel line, I've bought them at bass pro, they are like a leader, one end has a clip the other end has swivel, hope you do well in tournament, that river is really nice!🎣👍
if you come back up for the pike try to use spoons(copper or silver) or inline spinners/bucktails(mepps is the religion here) you'll get better hookups on them and personally i've had less issues with them biting off the line with those
Now, you are in my neighborhood now, great, I hope you had a good time! That strange fish was a Sauger all most a Walleye, excellent eating? Where about in Wis, were you, anyhow? I won't tell. 😁
Just got a kayak myself and was hoping to find some good kayaking spots! I know the first location is Lake WI, but where is the second area? Really excited for some good river fishing now with the Kayak
Funny you posted this video I actually just bought a Aldebaran BFS reel from a guy up there! Had I known you was going there I could have you pick it up for me and drop it off/come fish SW Ohio with me 😂😂😂
Definitely tougher the first time around. My buddy catches more nice pike in northern WI throwing a Chug Bug than bass. I on the other hand can't catch pike when they're biting unless they know I'm not prepared.
Glad you’re okay brotha. Long time watcher. One thing I do in my kayak before I rig it is try to tip it so I know the limits. I just got a new crescent Shoalie and it was great stability. Especially for a river yak. I’ve fallen in love with it lately. Have you experimented with any rod building? Is it worth it?
Is it because of the tournament issues with adding weights to fish stomachs that caused them to go to length and not weight? That sucks... a lot of difference in weight and length.
River fishing for Smallies in Wisconsin can be a challenge to find them. Typically if you can find the deep holes they will be there. Look for slower current spots and areas where you can't touch the bottom with your paddle.
For somebody who's channel is called CREEK fishing adventures, you sure do participate in a lot of typical bass fishing on lakes lol. Not that variety is bad, no, not at all. Just an observation.
There is a lot of fishing pressure in most of Wisconsin. And to be honest, most of the lakes don’t produce large fish. It looked like you were more to the south. You might try the Chippewa River, the Eau Claire River, and if you are in to a fun trout experience, the Rush River. That area around Eau Claire had decent fishing when I lived there in the early 00s. When you least expected it there would be a musky on the line too.
Boy, you missed too many fish. Hammer the hooksets. Told a friend who's not a fisherman, cross their eyes. If the lure isn't flying over your head on a missed hookup you're not setting the hook hard enough.
Hey John. I wanted to share something with you since you're also a believer. The Monster Energy logo isnt really an "M". If you notice, it's actually 3 separate pieces. They are each actually a Hebrew 6, which makes their logo 666 in Hebrew. It's also no coincidence that their slogan is "unleash the beast". As a believer I have never drank their product and I never will. I try to educate my fellow believers when I see them drinking one. Everybody can also obviously make their own decisions, but we are responsible for sharing our knowledge with others in order to help. May the Lord bless you!
If that’s what you believe than I respect you not drinking them. I’m actually sitting on the couch drinking a monster right now. I’m trying to find out anything about it being related to Satan and I just don’t see it. If it is they are hiding it really good so I don’t see how it’s promoting satan. I’m always open to change my mind about something if I see a reason to.
I was all in until I see ALL electronics are allowed. I love Drew as he’s an old friend but can’t believe FFS is allowed in kayak tournaments. I like my cash too much to piss it away to spotlighters or even travel 13 hrs to compete against guys using ffs. Good luck!
I love to travel to new places but sometimes the fishing is not as easy as you think!!
I know that's right.
Just a question, but what kayak do you own? im really curious because I want to upgrade mine.
Don't set the hook like a madman up here. Water is colder and the fish are slower. Give them a split second more to eat it before setting.
My state. We never fished for bass, that was more of a southern thing, although it's grown since. You should have went for pike and musky up north. It's a very different wisconsin than where you were in this video.
I’ve been fishing Wisconsin rivers and streams for most of my life. It can be very challenging due to fishing pressure, but also very rewarding.
9:55 is a sauger. The fishing looks fun up there!
it was different thats for sure, had some fun though
A ruff day of fishing is still better than laying on the sofa watching UA-cam videos all day, any day!!!
i do that some days also
Thank you for sharing! Great video and great fishing John!! Beautiful area! Welcome to WI. Have a good day and weekend and week ahead. Stay safe and God bless. Yes alot of fish is in wi.

When fishing for those toothy critters, you need a wire leader!
Great meeting you!! Had a blast up there!
I have literally never been more hyped than when I saw Wisconsin in one of your titles. I'm Milwaukee born and raised...I'm excited for you

interesting
Nice sauger! You can tell because of the spots on the dorsal fin.
I was just fishing from shore there this morning, one of my favorite spots, especially when I had a boat. good luck.
fished wisconsin the winter before last. what a blast! I'm really wanting to go back. Thanks for the content.
Really hope one day you get up to French Creek in northwest Penna. Cambridge Springs to Cochranton. Smallmouth, walleye, muskies.
Glad to live up here! Outdoors are always beautiful!
Super shallow & weedy go with old school Johnson silver minnow. Wisconsin River is stained water so I'd throw a gold spoon with a chartreuse trailer.

I recommend going to Beaver lake if anyone is in the area. You would need a boat though since the shore fishing is very limited.

Up in my neck of the woods! From Milwaukee, WI :)
Nice Sauger on that plastic worm. There is a cross between a walleye and sauger called a saugeye. Great eatin' fish too! Well done!
The water is so vast that it would be hard for me to fish.No points or cover to locate fish.Good luck, John.
My daughter is super excited to see herself on youtube!

I landed a 30” pike on 6lb fluorocarbon with a crappie jig. I can’t tell you how surprised I was to have even hooked it since I was fishing for perch.
Dude YooHoo in a vending machine…..I’d been in heaven😅
Looks like you had a good session. I must get over to The US for some fishing. Just subbed to your channel
That was a sauger in the walleye family. I live in Wisconsin.
if you come back up for the pike try to use spoons(copper or silver) or inline spinners/bucktails(mepps is the religion here) you'll get better hookups on them and personally i've had less issues with them biting off the line with those

That super shallow area is where you need Rudd’s inflatable yak.

Make sure to get some fresh cheese curds
That place looks cool , not sure what those guys were doing under the bridge lol
Awesome trip
John I don't know if you have already did the tournament but good luck great video
That fish is a Sauger. Walleye family member!!
Awesome video bro bro!!
Good luck brother
i love the grind but ya gotta work on that topwater hookset fs ;P
tight lines
Got ya a new paddle, huh? Nice.
ive got like 5 paddles
Tell me about the rod you were throwing your spinner bait with. Brand, length, power, tip? I"m looking for new rods and that one looks interesting
Sweet catches what bait are you using is it a spinner?
World class fishing in Milwaukee.
Lake Michigan?
What life vest are you wearing?
Do you put anything on the bottom of your kayak to protect it when you pull it across concrete like you did here?
no, they are pretty thick
my king
Bare down and you’ll do well. Got your pliers, knife, and net?
What first 5 heck yea dude
Got yer pocket knife ?? Good luck ..
13 hr drive.. wow
Never.
Nice
What county are you in cuz I live in Wisconsin
Sauger!
Yep! Definately not a walleye.
As someone who fishes WI a lot. FROG!!!
You should have tried a hallow body frog
i did, but not that much
Is it because of the tournament issues with adding weights to fish stomachs that caused them to go to length and not weight? That sucks... a lot of difference in weight and length.
Kayak tourneys all length
we dont have live wells, so we take pics of the length
Dog gone it John...you needed to contact me in Lafayette IN to try one of my 8 streams for Indiana small mouth.
didnt have much time coming through indiana
Sent you a picture of a good chatter bait

Hey Jake!

For such a large body of water, it is shallow.
Somewhere I’d wanna fish that ain’t TN (home) is florida
❤
Sauger, not a walleye
Say pike 1 more time

Totally different from the south … South Dakota has the best smallie fishing in America
🤣
Those dishpan lakes have no visible objects to cast to which is much different than what is typical for John in the southeast.
