Tucson, Arizona - The Tucson Police Department released body-camera footage from an incident between Officers and 34-year-old Jaime Herrera, who fought with officers after climbing on a neighbor's roof. The incident that occurred in the 5700 block of E. Fairmount St. on the morning of April 13, 2022. The Public Safety Communication Department (PSCD), Tucson Police Department (TPD), and Tucson Fire Department (TFD) all participated in the response to the incident. PSCD received multiple 911 calls regarding an erratic male who was on the roof of another person's home and armed with multiple weapons. One caller advised that the man had consumed a drink that made him “trip out.” Two TPD officers responded to the scene and discovered a man on the roof of the home armed with two knives. The man, later identified as 34-year-old Jaime Herrera, shouted threats and other statements at officers. At one point, Herrera threw a brick at an officer.
The responding officers called for additional officers to assist, including officers with Crisis Intervention Training (CIT). Herrera began running on the rooftop with a knife and brick in his hand. Officers attempted to establish a dialogue with Herrera, in both English and Spanish, to de-escalate the situation and offer him water. Herrera made his way to the edge of the roof and onto a tree. He fell from the tree to the ground, still armed with a knife; at which time an officer deployed his taser. A fight ensued as Herrera resisted arrest. One of the officers was able to kick the knife away from Herrera, who then ran toward the officer while yelling. The officer pushed him down. During the struggle that followed, Herrera bit down on the officer’s thumb. As additional officers arrived, they were eventually able to place Herrera in handcuffs and turn him on his side, also known as the “recovery position.” Officers noticed that Herrera appeared to be losing consciousness, and they urged him to stay awake. TFD medics were cleared to enter the scene and began rendering aid and medical care to Herrera.
A “bio guard”, which is designed to protect against the transmission of bodily fluids, was placed on his head and a WRAP device, which is the latest technology in restraint devices, was used to prevent Herrera from kicking or hitting anyone and to create a safe environment for both Herrera and the providers to treat Herrera and transport him to a hospital. Herrera was placed onto a gurney and transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital. During the transport to the hospital, TFD paramedics continued to administer care and completed a rapid patient assessment, all in accordance with established medical protocols. The injured officer was also taken to a nearby hospital. While enroute to the hospital, Herrera had a cardiac event. TFD Medics immediately began performing CPR and advanced life support interventions and continued those measures until they arrived at the hospital. Because of these actions, Herrera did regain a pulse and respirations. Nine days later, Herrera died at the hospital. It's not clear what caused Herrera's "cardiac event."

Common theme: they all have tattoos. It says everything when someone treats their own body like a public toilet room wall.
At least you openly state your ignorance.
Not all tattoos are bad.
Some are classy. Some have a reason to be there.
Some tattoos help cover scars, help deal with a trauma, actually help mentally when a limb or finger was lost (saw a special on that) or are a classy tribute to an event for family member.
One guy had his arms covered with 2 tattoos. One of a female Angel, the other of Death.
I had to ask what they meant (work at a gas station).

@@jovanblom7742 that’s ok.
I know a couple who said anyone who gets a tattoo was going to HELL🤦♀️.
I gave them a few good example of “good tattoos” and they moderated that view a tiny bit.
Especially when I told the story of how a woman lost a breast due to cancer, and she was fearful of getting an implant. She instead put a nice rose tattoo there to cover the scar, and to help her mentally with her physical loss of that part of her body.
Or how people who have lost fingers or lose limbs due to accidents or cancer find putting a tattoo at the point of loss sometimes helps with “phantom” itch.
That when people itch where their limb or finger no longer exist, and it drives them almost crazy trying to get a rid of that sensation.
That, and how same men will tattoo a wedding ring on their finger to show how much they love their wife….or if they work on machinery/ moving parts to avoid an actual ring catching on a moving part resulting in injury or loss of finger.
The wife thought that was romantic😅.

@@CharaEntertainment why.
Dude that was the cop that said “stop”🤦🏽♂️
@@Jodyjo99 idk man, looks like the suspect did
Bravo officers! Much respect to each of you!
i like how it turns to yelling and then bro just says
"Stop."
then turns back to yelling
eventhough its scary the taser usually doesnt end with death
Yeah sometimes
This was so sad because the man obviously wanted to retain his job as a branch manager!
Maybe he was the Assistant (to the) Branch Manager, and wanted a promotion!
Eyyyyyyy! 😎👉
Absolutely, the family deserves major respect for keeping a cool head and not escalating the situation. Unlike what we saw at the previous wedding, these folks truly care for their loved one and recognize that meddling with police would only exacerbate the problem.
what family where
Yes, get involved, makes things worse, then blame police when things go to sh*t.
Legit straight up maxed out my anxiety this one. Wow, imagine walking into a fast food joint and you drop on someone like this mid psychotic episode. Utterly terrifying! These cops had their work cut out for them big time. Shame the guy didn’t get the help he needed in time to prevent this from happening ❤
Help he needed? The guy CHOSE to get high on illegal drugs!!!
Yes
Yeah, that poor cops thumb! Hope he is ok.
People who say "legit straight up" need to be tased and decentralised.
He drank something that caused him to do this. It says it right in the info. This is the problem...so many people on drugs and acting this way but they get away with it because they say it's just mental issues..and everyone else watching these goes right to "aww he has mental issues".. It was a drug!
“Turn on your gut”
Lmao, didn’t have to do my man like that!
That's the problem. His gut has been "turned on" for 34 yrs. Tacos, burritos,enchiladas....
This guy is a good example of why you don’t want to do drugs. 34 years old and dead :-(
Out of this world 😢
Mad respect for these officers in deescalating this sad situation, I salute you and support you dear officers! you are not alone in this, thank you for your hard work and for keeping us safe.
Much respect to these officers. I can’t imagine the horror they go through every day. This guy was wild!! He scared the heck out of me, and I wasn’t there. He was one dangerous guy.
Sounded like he was scared out of his mind.
Shut up he isn’t dangerous
@@999.pyungin55 He literally threw a brick at the officer.
He looks like a zombie
@@999.pyungin55 No dangerous to me with a weapon in hand,it is dangerous to those without a weapon in hand.
"We're not going to hurt you!"... BLAP!!! If that wasn't funny enough, the cop just keeps the juice running on the tazer almost the whole time! As soon as the guy relaxes after the initial hit, the officer turns the juice back on! And when the guy started to comply, the officer hits him with the juice again, and just keeps it on! The guy couldn't comply, the juice from the tazer was either making him lock up or making him spaz out. Comedy gold. I hear the guy expired 9 days later from a heart attack. They say it was from the drugs... but you know all that juice from the tazer didn't help. Outstanding work and thank you very much officers.
Thanks for the good show.
I’m AMAZED. The subject was trying to bite the officer’s thumb off his hand. That would justify a point blank bullet to the jaw. The patience these officers showed was almost faulty. There are 8 billion of us. The world doesn’t have enough room for animals like that.
Thanks to the cops for being professional and handling this hard situation the best they can .
enemy of humanity, soldier of benefits...
