But please include the fact that Israel and the EU states and the USA designated Hamas a terrorist organisation as soon as they came to power. Once that label was in place they were essentially sanctioned which meant no foreign government or private entities outside humanitarian aid organisations could fund Gaza. They basically strangled Gaza because they didn’t like who Palestinians chose to govern them. They calorically restricted the people of Gaza and determined everything that was allowed to come in and out of Gaza. The wall around Gaza erected was and still illegal under international law. Once the outside powers labelled Hamas a terrorist organisation it had little chance to even try and run a functioning Gaza territory. So please don’t make such blanket statements without further context.

There are things that can't be measured in monetary terms..Israel's standing in the world.

Israel has been displacing Palestinians since 1948. There are already over 1.5 million Palestinian refugees in Jordan, Syria and Lebanon. The Palestinian's want to stay in their land they don't want to be refugees. Also, Jordan and Egypt are very clear that Israel displacing the people of Gaza will not aid stability in the region AT ALL! It is likely to cause the war to expand across the region - they are not falling for that 'play' by Israel!
