No kidding! This is a long-standing problem. I'm Canadian and was actually studying in New Delhi -82-84 and had a front row seat to Bhindranwala's reign of terror. But younger Sikhs in Canada are being taught that the movement was nonviolent, and basically started with Operation Blue Storm. That way, Khalistanis can remain perpetual victims and never have to face the suffering and terror they created and are still creating. I"ve never been so disgusted by my government as now. There are many Sikhs (including some of my friends) who also fell for this propaganda and radicalism by Gurudwaras. The violence in Punjab began much before Operation Blue Star. It began in 1978 itself and then the fusion of Amritdhari Sikhi and politics in Punjab only made it worse. How Punjabi Hindus, Jains, Nirankari Sikhs,etc. were targeted and killed by these Khalistani Sikhs (with backing of Pakistan) is well known.
I didn't saw that mess as I was born in 2000 but my mother, maternal grandmother and other elders have told me and discussed with me about these Khalistanis and their terrorism in Punjab and Haryana. We live in Haryana and my maternal grandmother told me that in 1980s-90s it was a hell for Hindus in Punjab. Very few people use to go to Punjab at that time. These Khalistanis did ethnic cleansing and massacres of Hindus in Punjab and other parts of India. They even targeted neutral and peaceful Sikhs. For example:- My maternal grandmother once told me that these Khalistani Sikh terrorists were once demanding money from a hard-working and good Sikh garment businessman in the market of our time. Those Sikhs refused to give their hard-earned money to them and then those Khalistanis burned their garment shop which is in the market of our home town. They still do their business and are still there. They never surrendered to these Khalistani Sikhs and their demands.
A Punjabi Hindu known one of mine lives in Amritsar. His brother-in-law was killed by Bhindranwale's men in Amritsar. He was shot in head by those monsters. Because he was a Hindu. They even use to rape Sikh women and girls too. As we all about how Baljit Kaur was tortured to by Bhindranwale and his men. Even Taliban would be ashamed of that act. Baljit Kaur's breasts were chopped and she was tortured. They nailed in her genitalia and after she died. Her body was chopped and cut into pieces by Bhindranwale's men.
Then the killing of DIG Atwal is what resulted in Operation Blue Star in June 1984 which was also a tragedy. I don't agree with its methodology but I fully understand and am aware of the circumstances and situation of those times. Many Sikhs, especially those living in West, only talk about Blue Star and cry about it. But no body talks about why it was done and hardly anyone speaks about the Khalistanis their terrorism and atrocities on others. Unfortunately, SGPC and Akali politics also s*ck. They are the ones who are fuelling this narrative and sentiment. This glorification of terrorists like Bhindranwale and Khalistanis in Gurudwaras of Western countries is very bad.

1) Punjab was divided into 2 during the 1947 India Pak partition.
2) holiest of the Sikh places lie in Pakistan part of Punjab
3) Sikh population in Pakistan decreased significantly after partition because of rampant conversion or killing
4) Pakistan was able to influence and organise odd Sikh groups to form kalistan separatist who as of a separate state only on the Indian side of Punjab
5) majority of India’s Sikhs reject the Kalithanis and hence most of them went outside India after they were crushed by PM Indira Gandhi (this led to her assassination)
6) there is renewed support from Pakistan ISI for these groups after article 370 abrogation in Kashmir.
7) Khalistanis are horrible people who have done unspeakable things, killings, bombing, ra@e , extortion, etc
8) at some point in time they will make Khalistan in Canada if they can’t make it in India. After all they are politically organised in Canada which they could not do in India. You will suddenly realise their rotten ideology.

There are three scenarios - 1. India did kill this vermin (something every Canadian is praying for right now):

Well, India will demand an apology from Canada and an assurance to act against armed terrorist in Canadian soil (something all civilized countries ought to do).
3. Investigation inconclusive, we don't know who killed the vermin:
Canada will have to explain why they implicated India publicly from their Parliament without any concrete evidence to back their accusation. Declaring someone as guilty even before there is any conclusive evidence will delegitimise the investigation. India "may" demand an apology.
India won't keel over to these former colonial powers who want to arm twist post-colonial countries to their way. Canada will have to come out and declare whether they accept India's sovereignty or not. Whether USA stands with Canada or not will be irrelevant to India. There is no good terrorist or bad terrorist - Canada needs to learn this lesson.
PS: Before charging someone with a crime, there needs to thorough investigation that incriminates the accused. That's just basic policing, law and order.
