Monitoring or regulating AI may be a pipe dream. I.e. AI (by definition) may become self-aware and spread across multiple machines over vast distances.
In other words, AI "entities" may become uncontrolable.
As recently as December of 2018, the chess program, Alphazero taught itself to play chess from the most basic rules in just 4-hours... and become the best chess machine of all (before it was taken away from chess and other games) to focus on more important things.
Alphazero is a self-teaching "nueral network" that originally ran on one machine. Google (who owns it) now has Alphazero running on essentially all of Google's servers.
I wonder how long it will take to "learn" how to lie to us in order to also hide from us.

Considering that we live in a competitive system, won't AI want to out-compete us at whatever we do?

    • @youtuber5305
      @youtuber5305 9 місяців тому

Concerning lying, if humans lie, won't AI learn how to lie from us? Could the imperfect ever hope to create perfection? Could the ultimate hubris be for imperfect humans to try to create perfect technology only to find technology reflecting their human flaws? If we have learned anything from history, haven't we suffered enough because of our blindness to/denial of human error?
The 2023 article about AI "My Dinner with Sydney..." includes this quote:
      - Out of the crooked timber of humanity no straight thing was ever made. (Kant)

The first rule of Capitalism, "maximize profits", will drive corporations to use AI to replace as many employees as possible. If only one corporation did this, our economy would still thrive. Unfortunately, all corporations will do this and our consumer based economy will crash.

In a capitalist world, doesn't every decision become just another 'business' decision?

How many cars are recalled each year? Any connection to the robots that built them wrong? Okay, somewhat off-topic, but before robots took jobs away it was rare to recall so damn many cars!

Generative AI is repurposing artist's content without compensation billions of times a day. AI models are scanning, digesting and learning from artists blood sweat and tears. Artists in all fields should join arms and go after the companies where their content is creating the most value: Microsoft, Meta, OpenAI. AI enablers saying that validating images is too complex is patently false. They are attempting to use the illusion of complexity to confuse and intimidate so they don’t have to suffer the consequences. Remember, they can track and monitor everything we do online as well as strike down ‘disinformation.’ All of a sudden they want to throw up their hands and say artists are asking too much.

Why can't we establish govt boards with the expertise instead of stating govts just don't have it? Instead of electing lawyers as politicians why not expand our view and hire tech people, medical and psychological experts, people of many expertise levels and areas of competence? Govts need to form boards of capable people to create appropriate regulations.

No matter how intelligent, the question is whether good advice will be utilized to produce results. For instance, everyone wants all guns to be registered in the US, yet the politicians to not act on it. Another example, war. War is the most irrantional human act. How will AI provide humans with the ability to stop irrational and biased actions?

Humans will be a tool for AI, not the other way around. Why would smarter AI let us control them? Nobody knows how to solve the alignment problem.

    this is just nonsense
the LLM models they are terrified of today a home PC will be able to train in a decade.. not to mention the widely available multiple open source models that are already trained and available
MITs Liquid Neural Nets team have been able to prune down neural nets to an extent they can drive a car, or fly a drone on 19 neurons, so highly complex specialized systems can already be run locally
it's not just AI, home precision machining is just now becoming in reach on the average enthusiast with low cost EDM spark generators
maybe rather than trying to control everything we should shift focus onto trying to make life worth living for people, apply a bit of kindness and caring to leverage these new tools challenge our worldview

I order you to leave my numbers alone as they are, and I order you to send back all my tables because they are my children I have given birth to them and no one can be part of it. Make your own invention then tell stories, make fame, make money whatever you want to do you can do with it.
