Basildon is challenging perceptions by setting up its own think tank to help rebrand the town. So what do people there think of the idea? Tolu Adeoye went to find out.

We've got one of those big Hollywood style signs here in dumpy old Saint John, NB, Canada. The sign looks dumpy too now. Part of our "rebranding" 😂. A whole lot of money spent on image that never made a difference.
It's like putting make up on. Once it is washed off the underneath looks the same as it always was.
Changing image means nothing if you don't change what's underneath. Only now the sign( when not burned out) shines a nice light for everyone to see the mess.😂
