Love, Stacey David. One of the best ones on TV. Used to watch him all the time and I'm glad he's on UA-cam. One thing about these shows that I realized now that I'm older is you only get the highlights. A project like this would take me weeks or maybe even months to complete. But still a great show
Miss waking up on Saturdays watching your show brother. You were the father of everything that I watch on UA-cam now. Glad I found this channel hope it is legit and really you
Why do people whine about the money put into this truck? For me, I need to tear into everything shown here (and then some). Watching someone who is able (money, skill, etc.) to do this is a HUGE help in planning and doing my upcoming projects. The how-to gives me insight in what's involved and what to look for when doing it. Makes the "grocery-shopping" and tooling up prep work easier, too. I'm not lifting, but I have bad ball joints in my 10bolt and shot springs in the rear, junk brakes and honestly afraid of what I'll find when i tear into my truck. I'm not driving it much and baby it when I do. I don't want it down for a long time, so I'll get what I need and do it and not be without a pickup for very long. These shows are a big help, especially when the subject matter is exactly what I'm working on. Thanks Stacey David for doing this!
I miss shows like this on TV. Even before I had my first car in high school, I'd watch shows like this and Power Block on Speed on the weekends. It really fostered my wrenching hobby at a young age.
Nice variety of projects, ideas, DIY, and do 's and don'ts, and the ever cheerful brite smiled Stacy. Always enjoy the show thanks to the crew, and Mr David always a pleasure. Peace my brothers. Happy Motoring to all.
I’ve since sold but had an 84 GMC truck with a 6” lift kit for around 2 decades, and learned a lot from this video . I’ve always heard about the shock mounts being weak and now I see why . The steering was very interesting to me to, as I always believed I may have had a little flex in the frame where the steering box is bolted . I heard there’s a plate you can buy and weld to the frame under the steering box to stiffen the frame , but I’d be interested to see how your truck steers with the upgraded box and other components. Subscribed and liked (although I’ll never own another 😢)
I envy your unlimited budget. I have worked on a couple dozen of these square bodies over the years, but all with a limited amount of money to work with.
@@keithwittman4741you could buy a new truck for what he put into this one (or what was given to him). Putting 50k+ into a k10 that’s “going down the interstate and the trails” simply isn’t happening. Albeit, not as cool.
Doing the work yourself as a hobby saves you over 50% of the cost. Yes, 50k is a lot all at once. That's just not how many do it. One piece at a time. Lots of used parts, get TLC, and work great. These shows are educational and inspirational. They are not always practical.
I just want to put this out there for anyone looking to do any frame modifications that require you to remove those rivets. Stacy is 100% right when he said an air hammer is the way to do it. I’ve done a couple trucks and a grinder might be the shittiest way to remove those rivets.
I had to replace the gas tank on an 84 Chevy C10 like this with the bed still on it and no lift in the winter on Christmas Eve. Lol. It was a pain. But once I figured out the secret it was easy, lol
If this truck had EFI, I'd swap out the pump while the bed was off. It would save me from having to drop the tank a few years after installation. In addition, it is a great time for a 255 LPH pump if the engine will eventually be modified.
The steering was not designed by GM. It is used to this day in every heavy duty truck (don't mean pickups). Works fine for everything but a rock crawler.
You obviously have never priced a lift for a modern truck. Quick search of this manufacturer's site puts this kit about $1500 if you don't do all the extra "fixes". Which is still cheaper than a late model truck.
+wild bill Yes yes I have priced them out.Obviously you don't understand we have a dumbass running Canada and you could almost triple that price here in Canada with dipshit Justin in power.
@@taylorh3930 yeah. I can relate. We have dipshits running the country here. I retract my prior statement as I assumed you were in the States. Tarrifs and exchange rates can hurt.

When doing ball joints...buy the RIGHT TOOLS! Stacey is so right, ball joints are the most miserable job ever if you don’t have the right press and adapters. The tools are relatively expensive but still waaaay cheaper than the shop rate.
These body style chevys are my favorite trucks. The only drawback is very weak frames. During my career I have crushed hundreds of these as end of life vehicles. The frames always bend behind the cab until it bottoms out against the flood of the crusher. Then the frame fails catastrophically at the engine mounts it the engine is inside the frame when we crush it. Other than these weaknesses, it is one hell of a truck. I wish GM still made these. An LS engine with 8L90 would be a great Powertrain!
Firstly, Stacey, your show, TRUCKS! as well as this was my childhood. Watching motor trend TV, Spike TV! You got lucky or my luck bit me in the rear bolts that hold the springs to frame were frozen in the sleeve in the bushing and I dont have a torch I had to cut the bolt between the spring mount and spring each time they pop adds to the pucker factor
Those front shock mounts look like Ford pieces. Ehh I'll pardon that. I really dislike those shackle flips in the back. The ORD unit is definitely beef. The shackle flip pushes hard on the spring in the opposite way it's supposed to move. The pinion angle can be corrected but your springs are at a totally different angle now. That affects your roll center. Those shackle flips are great for offroading but if you use your truck on the street, work, load, or tow... I would never shackle flip.
