I'm sure the birds will be happy you did some housekeeping for them.
It's amazing that they still run with that much wrong . Nice job.
Simpler the better
I really like when I find a channel that I can immediately like the video before watching it lol. Great videos buddy!
Thank you. As always, informative and easy for me to follow along.
Thank you!!! I have one of those adapters from an old timer, for the life of me I couldn't figure out what it was for! I knew it was a device that could cause death or serious injury! LOL!
Good stuff, I am surprised none of those nest caught fire. Good thing they had them serviced before turning them on.
The one did, that's why it burnt up the fan controls and limit.
Jim digity! Love it! lol
great job fixing those units !! the hardware store i used to work before it closed down in 2020 had propane heaters almost the same as those and smaller !
Good job on a Friday the 13th ... Thx Sir
Good Job Rick.
Great video Rick yeah those old Reznors are some beast of heaters!
Good video Rick! Rob Peter to pay Paul is the name of the game nowadays. Supply chain issues suck and the only one that suffers is the customer in most cases.
Great Video. Thank you for sharing. How bird come in and make a nest
They either came down the flue pipe or the outside overhead doors.
Preventive maintenance would have been found those a year so back . Almost fire in the hole that would have been a special day. Was wondering what the roof vent outside looked like . Maybe when they or you install the new heater they will look at it. And a special Thanks to the Guy on the ground floor ,would have been a total pain to check power on those units .
You're right on both accounts. 👍👍
Seen the gloves later on in the video
never found a bird nest in any, but a few totally soot clogged and full of ash. one had a lack of working fan banging high limit(rivets broke, fan klixon loose from heat exchanger)
it also had a cross-threaded orifice on the gas manifold, surprised it never went boom or flashed off from improper burning, the place has multiple units from 1970's/80's (lol) the orifice issue looked to be from factory! no cracks in heat exchanger, so that orifice and short cycling had to be the cause of soot.
Well this video really lifted me up! (Pun 100% intended) 😊
Those blue genie boom lifts are the best, nice job Rick
Thanks brother Steve!
See any bird eggs 🥚 great job 👍
Great video as usual; your vids cover many different applications of HVACR equipment from NASA to unit heaters !
😂quote of the day " if you're an idiot, don't do it" 😂
That's just crazy
Great content thanks 🙏 you 😊
Awesome 👍👍. I appreciate the support!
looks about like the same as the last once I serviced, utter pains in the rear end!
Rick, another great video !
Maybe add some hardware cloth on the discharge side to keep the birds out.
I recommend rabbit cage wire.
Just about all my fire stations have those heaters in the apparatus bays. I’d have no issue with you swapping out parts from a unit to get another one up and running.
Nice work Rick.
Great job Rick! The bird man lol!!
Using compressed nitrogen that way is dangerous and is a violation of OSHA. The pressure must be reduced to a max of 30PSI (29 CFR 1910.242(b))
And a safety harness is required when working from a boom lift.
And the wiring looks crazy.
Wow! The Round One and Reznors. I like that better than radiant. How the birds get in, down the flue pipe? Would have sucked using a ladder on this one. Now that I think about it, they must come in from the front side, eh?
Air is a very poor heat conductor. Radiant heaters heat the objects in the room, not just the air.
Fun fact;Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails,is the Grandson of the founder of Reznor Corporation. The more you know...!!😉
Great video thanks
👍👍👍👍👍
I hate birds. I'm surprised nobody's ever put any coarse, stiff wire mesh over the fronts of those units.
I recommend rabbit wire front and rear.
Crazy snow 31
'optional screw' lol
Birds seem to find our equipment just great nesting....
That’s Jim diggadee right there..lol
Better to fix heaters before you need to use them.
The one thing i don't get is how does the heat come down at surface level where it's needed , since warm air is lighter ?
Magic! LOL The fan blows it around
Also looked like they had some ceiling fans in place.

Ya definitely wear gloves/mask next time man. Bird nest/crap stuff can get you very very sick
Hope you checked yourself out for fleas. Birds and their nest are a fleas best friend. Hate to hear you brought them home.
Would windy conditions make the mini split run longer than it should? I have 2 new units that I'm using for heat now. Remote is set at 65, yet house is at 75 degrees now. I've noticed that it does this mostly when it's very windy outside. House is located on a large lake, so the wind will get worse this winter. Or, is this a thermostat issue?
The thermostat you used to adjust the temperature does not sense the room temperature. The temperature is sensed inside of the head and that's why the fan runs all the time. Be sure it's truly set at whatever temperature it is you want by keeping the remote pointed at it and you should hear a beep confirming you change the temperature. If it's still over shooting then yeah you've got an issue
Thanks. What about the wind? I have a short fence partially blocking the wind, but I still think the wind is affecting the fan on outside unit. @@HVACRSurvival
How do the birds even get in?
Most likely coming to the overhead doors that are left open. But, I have seen them make it through 2-in PVC exhaust pipes.
I really really really wished you wore gloves cleaning those birds nest, like really really wished.
probably best to take motor and gas valve off the burnt unit to repair others and have them install one new unit there. 🤔
**edit and at end of video, lol. more or less what happened. the radiant type is probably best for the open dock area anyway, otherwise it's like whizzing into the wind. 🤡

Articulating lift and no body harness, not good.
Assuming I wasn't wearing a harness is just as dangerous.
👍👍👍
