    Good stuff, I am surprised none of those nest caught fire. Good thing they had them serviced before turning them on.

      The one did, that's why it burnt up the fan controls and limit.

      They either came down the flue pipe or the outside overhead doors.

    Preventive maintenance would have been found those a year so back . Almost fire in the hole that would have been a special day. Was wondering what the roof vent outside looked like . Maybe when they or you install the new heater they will look at it. And a special Thanks to the Guy on the ground floor ,would have been a total pain to check power on those units .

    never found a bird nest in any, but a few totally soot clogged and full of ash. one had a lack of working fan banging high limit(rivets broke, fan klixon loose from heat exchanger)
    it also had a cross-threaded orifice on the gas manifold, surprised it never went boom or flashed off from improper burning, the place has multiple units from 1970's/80's (lol) the orifice issue looked to be from factory! no cracks in heat exchanger, so that orifice and short cycling had to be the cause of soot.

    Using compressed nitrogen that way is dangerous and is a violation of OSHA. The pressure must be reduced to a max of 30PSI (29 CFR 1910.242(b))
    And a safety harness is required when working from a boom lift.
    And the wiring looks crazy.

    Wow! The Round One and Reznors. I like that better than radiant. How the birds get in, down the flue pipe? Would have sucked using a ladder on this one. Now that I think about it, they must come in from the front side, eh?

    • @lnk4328
      @lnk4328 10 місяців тому +2

      Air is a very poor heat conductor. Radiant heaters heat the objects in the room, not just the air.

    Would windy conditions make the mini split run longer than it should? I have 2 new units that I'm using for heat now. Remote is set at 65, yet house is at 75 degrees now. I've noticed that it does this mostly when it's very windy outside. House is located on a large lake, so the wind will get worse this winter. Or, is this a thermostat issue?

    • @HVACRSurvival
      @HVACRSurvival  10 місяців тому

      The thermostat you used to adjust the temperature does not sense the room temperature. The temperature is sensed inside of the head and that's why the fan runs all the time. Be sure it's truly set at whatever temperature it is you want by keeping the remote pointed at it and you should hear a beep confirming you change the temperature. If it's still over shooting then yeah you've got an issue

    • @lakehouse9305
      @lakehouse9305 10 місяців тому

      Thanks. What about the wind? I have a short fence partially blocking the wind, but I still think the wind is affecting the fan on outside unit. @@HVACRSurvival

      Most likely coming to the overhead doors that are left open. But, I have seen them make it through 2-in PVC exhaust pipes.

    probably best to take motor and gas valve off the burnt unit to repair others and have them install one new unit there. 🤔
    **edit and at end of video, lol. more or less what happened. the radiant type is probably best for the open dock area anyway, otherwise it's like whizzing into the wind. 🤡
