Been on it both ways. That is most dangerous spot either way. Exactly for the reasons you specified. Its not for the less adventurous and unprepared. Further up are large rocks to overcome. The worst was the very first trip that was at night in a downpour going up in a 4 seater and having to turn the bus around just past that bad spot. I don’t scare easy, but that one had the sphincter gripping the seat as we navigated it 180 and back down those slippery rocks peering off over the dark void. Thank God for a trusty winch man and sheer determination.
I did a portion of the 95 trail you mentioned. It was pretty muddy back in May. We got up to the first flat and I walked up the next portion. If it wasn't so muddy we might have continued, but we were by ourselves with no other support vehicles. I love the Hatfield McCoy trails. Such a good system. Too bad it's so far away for me.
Just moving a couple big rocks to the lower side of some of the trails I ride on made it so much safer. Sometimes I have to reset a couple of them but it's worth it. I have my 12 year old daughter with me a lot. I don't have to take the risk why would I. Thank you for sharing. See you next time bro. Stay safe. God bless.
Took my 700 Kodiak up that. It was the first and last black trail I tried. I'm getting to old for full send. I followed a dirt bike and a woman on a 400ex up it. We all made it, but I was puckered!
You speaking on putting trees down as makeshift guardrails, before the trails were takin over for the HM trail system is good ole boys would do that at every spot needed. Still try to when we end up on the system though. Although we have been chewed out for doing such things by trail system authorities.
@@galbach I use a jaw mount off Amazon. It’s called sametop. Go pro has one but it’s triple the price. After I got the same top jaw mount i shortened the flex arm some. It works well and easy to get off cage after riding
If u guys want I could take u all to bald knob and silica rock. Silica rock is my favorite trail I’ve ever been on. It’s not the roughest but it’s a nice challenge and the over look up top is the best . It would be a long ride from matewan but it’s doable
I think 97 is closed now. A few life flights and a death there last couple years. Two years ago we hit on quads and that first obstacle where you stopped wasn't as washed out. We made it to the next obstacle and came back down - was first 7 miles of our trip day one and figured we'd rather ride the next two days as opposed to tearing up a machine. Should've been marked double black.
That section where you stopped looks uglier than it did in 2015. I was riding with a group on sport quads and i was the only dirtbike. I went through ok on my bike but first guy on a 450r got sideways on the rocks and the rest said fuck it lol. Rockhouse is no joke. There are some challenges there if you are looking for them.
25 of us drove Trail 97 in June with rentals by accident! We didnt know and just put the metal to the peddle once we got to the worse part. We miraculously all made it!!!
97 no longer exists its all mining now. Back in 13 i tried it on a Honda Rubicon i got past the first part and made it around the corner to the next ledge, that is when I came to the conclusion that I did not want to die!. About were you started your video was a crumpled up Polaris 4 wheeler as it did not make it and tumbled all the way down hill
Great content OTG team, we are heading out to WV tomorrow for 4 days with the SXS's. Check our channel out too we got caught in a crazy thunder storm last time in Bear Wallow. I liked and subscribed for you guys 👍

What is your camera setup
Go pro hero 8. They are the best bang for buck IMO
@@Ltr450jeremy What do you mount it on your razor with? It’s extremely Stable!

@@galbach it’s not the mount but more if the video stabilization built into the camera. Gopro 8 is awesome for it
If you don’t get to this trail before the next time we come down that way we’ll do it again with ya. 🤘🏻💯

That’s what 4wheelers are for.
We have to do 97 every trip down there it is a good trail .
lol, how long have you been riding? Have confidence! You have the right idea... Trust your machine and stay on track.
Looks like a blue trail at windrock
Looking forward to going to wind rock.
Sometimes this isn’t a joke, the red and black ones are like that section all the way around, beat the hell out of my poor little Honda 250ex

not seeing it.
Yeah just put up a big tree. That shouldn’t take long. Maybe take a quick lunch break while it grows.
