Yes, Gayle, businesses need to protect themselves now from lawsuits due to COVID. I feel so bad for these businesses, because they never suspected a virus would shut them down and some, permanently. So many jobs lost, too. I sure will be glad when we do get back to normal or will we ever be back there again? I do know the students have had a bumper year with attendance. They aren't getting as sick as normal years. So, there is some positive, too. :)
Gayle, by now you know I love all your work. I was wanting to see one like this again. You know, to refresh my mine. lol I'm in South Carolina and this morning I awoke to SUNSHINE. It's 5:25pm Saturday, Feb 20th and it's 55. It has been such a beautiful day hear. And I'm so very thankful. Have a good day.
Thank you for all your lovely videos. You keep me company while I am supposed to be working! I have started watching your older videos and really have learned so much from them. Keep safe and have a good weekend.
Awesome job. Us Texans are still alive, frozen but alive. I still don't have my well pump fixed, but we have heat & my family does. So many don't. Continue to pray for them. I have a new respect for your guys that deal with this every Winter. I'll take our tornadoes!!
I love watching you bind your journals. I love watching anything you for that matter! I wish you lived round the corner because when I answer or talk to you as I do! You would talk back. Oh well. Seeing you here will have to do ❤️ Your weather in the States is strange this year. We have had so much rain, day after day of the stuff! Hugs and Hi 👋
The lace you used on the spine is perfectly beautiful!! "That's the one!" I exclaimed out loud...my husband always asks me: " Who are you talkin to...Gayle?" Yes!! 😁💖
Hi Gayle, I just love watching your videos! You are always so chipper and have fun while working. It's just that I can't work while watching! I get so busy watching that I forget what I was going to do when you were on. You know like dust the edges of my tags with ink, or wind ribbon up. Just get carried away watching you craft. But the little Frozen Charlottes were just a HOOT!! I enjoyed how you decorated them, and I should have commented on that video, but as long as you showed them again today, I have to say, Good timing! When all of the US is in record temps below 0!!! My sister Charlotte in KS, my friend Charlotte in Texas, another friend Char in Colorado, and they were all frozen this last week! Thanks so much Gayle for sharing! I always enjoy hearing your weather report too.
Gayle, you’re so cute struggling with the measurements. I usually just use paper for my spine template that way I can just fold it in half and then fold it again and you don’t have to measure just use the fold marks. Also sometimes I use grid paper, that’s way easier to get straight. Just a couple little hints, I also save all my templates and some of the standard ones I have marked they say readers digest, or one and a half inch spine, or 1 inch spine three signatures four signatures, etc. things like that so usually I don’t even have to make any anymore, I can find something that fits in my little collection.
Gayle, you never cease to amaze me! I haven't commented every time I watch your videos but I love your work. I don't think there's anyone on YT that can keep up with you. You're always creating. You don't rest, do you? Lol! Be safe and take care of yourself. GOD Bless
That was great, I never knew how to properly deconstruct a book so I went and tried it with a new book and it worked in like two seconds. You just made me want to try a real book cover once again! Thanks Gayle.
I am in love with that book and the whole kit. I bought two from Emily but I have been hoarding them ever since… lol! This just might inspire me to use them, the books are from 1910 & 1912 and they would be great for this, but they will have to wait until I do the great room exchange.… lol! If I can find them after that… hehehe! 😆 I cannot wait to see how you decorate this book since you are going to make everything for it. Have a great day! Hugs! 🤗💖🤗
I am enjoying this series. The jj I’m working on at the moment has been a train wreck from day one (allowing everyday distractions to draw my mind away at critical moments ...measuring! for instance. 😊) Strangely, despite its imperfections and boo-boos (or perhaps because of them), I’ve grown rather attached to the poor thing and soldier on. It will either be a gift (with apologies and explanation of course) or it will join my otherwise homeless ...but loved, journals on my shelf. This series you’re doing is a good reminder of basics and sequence of assembly. Thank you!
I know what you mean about being hopeful, I signed up for a week long class last year, which was cancelled. When I was notified it was being held this year, got very excited. Now I have something to look forward to! Love the journal so far!
Oh wow! I didn't watch all the way through the video where you covered the frozen charlottes, and I'm awed by the cover topper using them! Those are just gorgeous. Great job!
This is a great refresher course for me. Thank you. I’m in Southwest Oklahoma and today is the first day we’ve had above freezing temperatures in 11 days. We are not accustomed to these type of temperatures or the 14.5” of snow Duncan, Oklahoma has received. Our neighbors to the south are in worse shape than we are. I’m dreading the flooding we are going to experience when the snow starts to melt in the next few days. I need to get my seed started in the greenhouse for our spring/summer garden.
This was great, thank you so much. I was struggling with this. You are so good at this. I'm learning so much from you. Thanks for the inspiration. Have a blessed day
Gayle, I love how this is coming together. Hope you and your wonderful husband have a great weekend. Hugs 🤗 Your friend Cindy from a small town in Northern Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 ❤️❤️❤️
Excellent cover choices! The addition of lace to the one softens the edges and makes Charlotte shine and the second Charlotte has more lace bits and prettiness on her so she doesn’t need the additional lace behind her. I know you already know all that, just affirming your excellent decisions. Also, the lace on the inside of the vintage book spine? Absolutely perfect 😊
You’re welcome Gayle. It’s funny that you explain what a signature is. When I first started watching you, 2 years ago, I didn’t know what you were referring to so I googled it☺️. None of your Etsy sales are coming to my house. I’m never fast enough😢. Now I must go out and trim my roses. 🌹🌹🌹hugs and blessings
Hello from Texas We are finally thawing out...it's 61 degrees Saturday Feb 20 th. There was still mounds of snow but I can see the grass, hooray! The icecicles dropped off the houses and my husband showed me one and no kidding it was the length of a baseball bat. For the 1st time in dayyys we are going to get to eat out well bring home food from the Mexican restaurant. I love your videos, and when power was on I binged on your videos. Have a great day and Thank you for sharing your beautiful journal artwork 😊
“Grody-ness” of the spine. 😅😂😂 I haven’t heard anything described as “grody” since high school (I won’t say which decade). Loving this series, even two years later.
I love that lace on the spine. It's beautiful. I can't wait to see this journal come together. Great craft with me video as always. Thanks for sharing with us!
I enjoy using the Reader's Digest books when doing this but then struggle with all the measurements to get papers to fit properly. I enjoyed how you made it look so easy. I hope you will do another Little Golden book too. Ive seen your videos on those as well as others. I went out and stared myself a collection of them and now feel frozen to try and take them apart. Thanks for share your talents with us and helping us to learn from the best!
I look forward to seeing this one come together Gayle! Beautiful start! The aged and grungy style is probably my favourite. A dear friend just dropped off some old lace pieces that she found in the attic of their old farmhouse. I can hardly wait to work with those treasures! I miss retreats with friends so much too. Just think how much we’re going to appreciate all those events once it’s safe to do them again.🥰🇨🇦
If you want to keep the coffee-dyed window envelope uncovered on the front but still decorated, you could stencil over it and then it won't add any bulk!
I enjoy your videos. I find myself watching even if it is bot really something I’m interested in making because I enjoy visiting with you. 🙂 Then if course you will do something and I will go “Marie, aren’t you glad you watched that is so cool” 😘
Hi Gail. Can you show us how you make the pin toppers for your glue tops. And what to order. Thanks. I am so loving this process. And now hubby is going to go look for the movie for us to watch. You and Roxy and Pam are my Morning inspiration. Thanks. Xoxox. Have a Happy Crafting Day.
Good Morning Gayle! Enjoyed your video and watching your process, I give you props for saving those old book pages. "Good Job" I'm thinking about taking a page from your book and start taking the weekend off, putting my Etsy shop on vacation mode on Friday's until Monday. It just seems like I don't finish the projects I want to. Hope you have a good weekend, I am getting ready to watch the Tim Holtz live show finally got a quiet moment to do so. Take care!
I love the picture of the woman on the book cover. You should scan the cover so that you'd have her to either use on this book cover or on a tag or journaling card, etc., on a different project.
Janet that is a Harrison Fisher illustration. You can find prints of his women on Ebay and old books. I love to use them on my covers. He was part of the Gibson Girl movement. Look him up and see all the lovely illustrations he did.
I just had to order the paper pack you used on the inside cover, not easy here in Scotland but I was lucky! The journal is going to be awesome like all yours are xxx💕
Hi Gayle! A really good show we gave been watching is Your Honor, its on showtime which I think comes with Disney+. It stars Bryan Cranston as a judge and its just so good
I’m also excited to see how you will decorate without digitals. They are so fun to play with & I have scads to use that I’ve printed however some journals lend themselves to just ephemera & such. I love repurposing books but never find the really old ones like Rachel does so I have to make them look old
Good morning Gayle 😊. Just want to say Have a wonderful blessed weekend!! Im in California and already feels spring in the air, even though still cold but flowers blooming everywhere 🌷🌸🌺.
Thanks for going through the binding process once again, Gayle. I have to resign myself to creating a template b/c eyeballing it is too risky! Neat journal kit -- It's fun to follow your process with you!

Hi Gayle, I'm like you in that the decoration is my favourite part 😊
Love this. Texas is still covered in snow...at least in the piney woods of East Texas.
It’s cleared out in New Braunfels, Texas...south central part

Frozen Charlotte is so well-behaved. LOL! Love these covers!
I wish I WAS making an altered book with you! But I'm still working on my winter "home improvement" to-do list! "Blah, said Toad!" 😝
I so love start to finish! It really helps all of us get a better idea of how to start and work thru! Hugz sent your way sweetie!

My glue topper was a gift, so I have no idea how to make them! 🥴. I do know you can buy them on Etsy. Journey of Crafting sells them, I believe. 😁❤️
This journal is already so precious...it will be a deight to see what goes inside. It is a real beauty, Gayle!
