Thanx for this video, you show it all, so I don't have to watch more video's, super fast,.. I don't emboss the words I diecut (but can also emboss) very often and then forget if the embossingmat is on the backsite or on the paper site.. so, you showed it fast and easy, thanks !
Hey Carissa...thanks for sharing the instructions for using the different sandwiches. I have the regular sized Gemini but haven't used it yet so this is extremely helpful. Much appreciated!
Karen Buttery hi Karen I’m not sure if you got a response yet but the embossing mat is actually used with a metal die and the mat prevents the die from cutting through and it just will put an impression on your paper card stock
I'm so happy to see this. I've been trying to decide which die-cutting machine to purchase. I don't have a lot of hand strength so this one sounds great. Thanks for your info. Happy crafting.
I enjoyed your video. and the information was good. I do have a question. I've had my machine for almost two weeks and have made a couple dozen cuts, but my plates literally have hills and valleys. I've used different cutting machines both electric and manual and have never had both of my plates and my plastic shim go up and down like a wave. One of my plates has two cracks in it, not just the marks from the dies but two cracks. I flip and rotate them trying to prevent that problem, but I still have it. Is that normal for this machine? Thank you.
Thanks for an awesome demo of this machine, especially the partial die cutting. Would love to see some intricate die cutting as well as a half sheet of die cutting to see if it can cut through multiple dies across the surface at one time.
Melissa Friedrich I am actually using it in my video tutorial today to die cut several dies at once. It works wonderfully. Keep watching. I’ll be using it in video tutorials coming up. ☺️
thank you for this demo l have a different small electric machine thathas just come out on the market but its got to go back as its faulyt. wish l had one for one of these now
Just a question, is it possible to obtain a 50mm circle die for this machine? I am looking to cut out a perfect circle and use the left over 50mm piece of material. Thanks for any info:)
hey there, how do you find the machine when you have really precise cutting to do and you have to flip the sandwich over? I'm worried that flipping the sandwich upside down, might mean that the dies move and cut incorrectly... what are your thoughts?
Cathy Ferguson if I really need things to be in place, I usually hold them in place with a washi tape or masking tape. You can build the sandwhich upside down so you don’t have to do any flipping.
Hi, I just unboxed my Gemini Junior and die cutting is great, embossing is terrible. I tried all different sandwiches and it is shallow and uneven? Any suggestions? Thank you
I tried the WRMK next level folder but they did not emboss with the cutting plates only. i had to use this sandwich: Cutting plate - Metal Shim - folder with paper - Plastic shim
Can I ask a question please? I have a silhouette cameo 3 and having a very hard time learning how to use it computer illiterate lol Do you think the Gemini would be a good replacement I'm thinking of selling my silhouette thank you 🤔
CRAFTieJjNEWton well. I honestly think this is like comparing apples and oranges. The Gemini uses dies. The Silhouette using files on your computer. I have a free class over at Scrapbook.com that gives an overview of both manual die cutting and digital die cutting (using the silhouette). Maybe you should head over there and check out that class and see what makes most sense to you. The Gemini would take the place of any of the traditional die cut machines (like the Sizzix Big Shot, Spellbinders Platinum and other machines like that).
Thanks for sharing. I have the large Gemini and have a dickens of a time remembering to put my dies face up. I won't tell you how many magnetic shims I have ruined with this. My question is this. I do a lot of die cutting stamped images - you know the ones with stamps and matching dies. I have not figured out a good way to handle this since you have to put the dies in face up. Is there a way to successfully flip the sandwich - or do you have some tips?
Hi Patricia! I have the large Gemini as well and figured out you can build your sandwich ‘upside down’. I put my cutting plate down, then my paper, stamped image face up. Then I line up my die, cutting side down and keep it from moving with a piece of Washi or masking tape. I add the plastic shIm followed by the second cutting plate on top and run it through the Gemini. I haven’t had any trouble with it cutting this way. Essentially you are using the same sandwich, just building it upside down. ☺️
Hello again Patricia. ☺️ That’s correct - when cutting out a stamped image, I don’t use the magnetic shIm. I haven’t had any trouble with the dies not cutting through, so it would seem there is still enough pressure. If you have a die that is more intricate I would recommend adding the metal shIm (vs. magnetic) in the sandwich stack I described before. I would place it between the bottom cutting plate and the stamped image/paper to be cut. The metal shIm will get dented & ‘beat up’ over time, but it does help with more intricate dies. I hope this helps!
Cheery Lynn Designs came up with thicker cutting plates for their Big Sister & Little Sister (manual) die cutting machines. I've been using them for over a year now--no warping! I agree with Marilyn--I wish more companies would do this! :)
you're the first person to answer my question about using the sizzix plates! Thank you 😊 I do have another question since u have both the junior and the regular size Gemini. Will I be able to use the plates for the Junior on the regular sized Gemini? I have the regular Gemini but I was thinking of getting the smaller plates to use if I was not cutting any big sheets of cardstock and it will probably die cut faster. Thank you!!!
When I try embossing with a die like you showed....same sandwich as you used......it cut my ru ber embossing mat into pieces!!!! What's the difference and why did it ruin my mat??? I'm so confused!!!
I know this comment is a couple of years old, but did you ever get an answer? I got a Gemini recently and this happened to me. I’m searching for answers. ???
@@Mindinmyownbizz no one ever answered me. I bought a replacement, an it is better, but still cut into some. The best I did was place extra paper to protect my mat. Hope that helps you some. Other than that, I just emboss with the old cuttlebug, and die cut with the gemini.
@@lindaguillemette2273 Thanks so much! I have a big shot so that’s exactly what I’ll do. I don’t emboss using dies all that much anyway. Thanks again for replying. 😊

You are a great demonstrator! I just received my Gemini Junior in the mail today. I can't wait to try it.
Hi there thanks For sharing this clever tutorial👍👍👍💛
The best video I've seen for GeminiJr. Cool tip on partial cutting... I'm new to this, need all the help I can find. ThankYou!
I am sooooo going to try this. No matter what I do, my plates warp. Thank you!
Hey Carissa...thanks for sharing the instructions for using the different sandwiches. I have the regular sized Gemini but haven't used it yet so this is extremely helpful. Much appreciated!
I’m glad to see you demonstrate the Gemini Jr. . I think I will stick with my Big Shot😀. Thank you.
Very informative...I just bought the Gemini Go and the Junior is on my wish list.
I was wondering why we do not use the rubber embossing mat when doing the embossing folders?
Karen Buttery hi Karen I’m not sure if you got a response yet but the embossing mat is actually used with a metal die and the mat prevents the die from cutting through and it just will put an impression on your paper card stock

carissawiley yay! Thanks for sharing your incredible talents, LOVE your beautiful cards, tags and other projects.
Great video. Love your laugh
Very nice!!! Can you use the cutting plates of the Gemini Jr. in the regular size Gemini machine?
Nice demonstration. I would like to see a more intricate die or cross stitch die used with this machine.
I find it hard to tell what the sandwitch is. Could you place each one individually on top of each other so we can see it stacked
Gemini video recommends for partial die cutting to not put paper end thru first keep paper only end for last so paper does not get caught in rollers
thank you for this demo l have a different small electric machine thathas just come out on the market but its got to go back as its faulyt. wish l had one for one of these now
Hola me oye de decir v c amo ouefo adquirir la máquina de embudar y el precio gracias
Thank you for doing this review. It’s been very helpful!
I thought the metal plate was a metal shim and not a cutting plate. Did it leave a circle indentation? Thank you for sharing.

can the Gemini foil machine plate be used with the Gemini jr?
TY great tutorial, just took my jr. out of the box and hope to be able to use it with no problems...
Good pro and con review

Will a sizzix steel ruled die work?

I have the regular Gemini and the 1st few times I used it the bottom and top plates came out with greasy streaks....did this happen with yours?
do the plates warp like the Big Shot. I know they tell you to rotate your plates every time. I have a really hard time remembering to do that
They will warp with time. That’s true of any die cut machine where pressure is rolled across the plates. It’s just part of this type of die cutting.
Whoever can come up with a plate that doesn't warp will make a fortune LOL!
Plates like the ones the Grand Calibur uses do not warp. I wished companies would use that type of material more often.
Now that's interesting Marilyn!
Cheery Lynn Designs came up with thicker cutting plates for their Big Sister & Little Sister (manual) die cutting machines. I've been using them for over a year now--no warping! I agree with Marilyn--I wish more companies would do this! :)

No worries, I don't think anyone would have showed up your house. lol
