One of my favorite Mobb deep albums “Hell On Earth” to me is a classic. It had a definitive mood and sound to it that I can’t compare anything else too, plus it holds a lot of nostalgia for me growing up.

Dope discussion. Touching on the question of can something be a classic instantly, my answer is yes because the word classic simply means highest class or best of. What determines a classic is more quality than time. Of course, since art is subjective quality is in the eyes (or ears) of the beholder, hence what is considered a classic will vary between individuals.
A classic resonates sonically and spiritually with the era and sums up the major influences of that present product.... Definitely, something could be labeled a classic instantly, because it perfectly reflects and resonates sonically, spiritually, and energetically with the majority or influential majority of the listeners and participants in that particular genre of music

talk that!! its a two sided coin that guidance is everything but also could hinder the artistic works depending on the A&R.
So more importantly we need the right A&R's. because we seen labels hunting for artist just to copy a popular sound and wanting that artist to make songs that sound like the thing that's playing on the radio. So we need A&R'S and labels that has a foundation is art and business second. this is how we build great artist and a real fanbase. versus being poplar on social media but can't sale out venues. Numbers nowadays are the only thing people look at which is a problem. Talent and knowledge of music history is the way, versus someone who's just popular and have fake views , fake streams etc. That's why most artist can't perform well, don't sell out shows , and rapping over background tracks. everything so microwave now and the music nowadays shows it. Appreciate real artist who actually care about the art.

Al has had classic singles so his legacy is legit, but you weren’t far off and even he doesn’t think he has classic Albums. But I thought if you didn’t consider ROTM classic you may not have considered Alfredo either. Just because something wins awards doesn’t necessarily mean it’s classic.

Not all photos taken are equal and not all beats made from samples are equal. There are levels to artistry and craft. Anyway, rage baiting or not, I know people with your POV and it makes no sense to gatekeep. For the sake of art, you gotta let people go wild and pull from anything and everything. Sampling. It's important. It also can put people onto stuff that came before them, which again, hugely important.
