- For a nice price, I managed to snag this mint condition Mac mini Server. Let's dig into the box and get is setup to see what it's like. Let's throw in some extra memory in there while we're at it.

i cant reinstal my mac mini 2010 server with high sierra, why always error at the end?? but on your video use sierra, this normally sierra or, for sierra server os?? u have link to download?
I got a base model today, it had a 120GB SSD and 16GB of ram. I got it for $130 and $20 shipping. Seems good enough for a server even though it's not the server model.
Have you bought the intel core 2 duo model? Because I'm considering to buy that model (and obviously upgrading it) myself and I was wondering how it performed in day to day tasks as a secondary device; nothing too crazy, just some web browsing, streaming Netflix, writing some documents... If you could give me a feedback it'd be amazing :D
The core 2 duo model is fine for those tasks when you’re doing one of them at a time. Be sure to upgrade to 8GB of RAM and any SATA SSD, it’ll feel snappy enough. That said, the 2011 model is becoming cheaper by the minute, they will perform significantly better.
@@nelizmastr Well, I guess that the 2011 model could be worth the investment... I think I'll just keep the eyes on the market looking for some good deals like the one you found.

When you clean installed is it regular Mac OS or a server edition of it?
I had the original Snow Leopard Server disc and serial with it, but I clean installed regular macOS. Starting with Lion, macOS Server became an app store app rather than a full OS.
What did you pay for it? :)

How do you use the CD's when no player is ship with it?
USB optical drive is the easiest way to do it.
That mini looks almost brand new with everything in the box, nice find. I have one that is brand new/still sealed in the box, but it's the base model, not server.
Why would you leave your account still signed in, your personal information on the drive, when you have the restore disks right there and no idea what the person you're selling it to is going to do with it? Some people's stupidity amazes me. At least they haven't gone to the other extreme and taken out/destroyed the drives entirely.
A note about the RAM also - using unmatched pairs usually results in a performance loss. You could see a 5-10% drop in performance.
It baffles me as well how people can be so reckless with their data. Oh well, I usually format any drive I get anyway, so they're safe in that regard lol.
I didn't use matched RAM because I didn't feel the system needs 8GB and 4GB is simply not enough. I don't do particularly heavy tasks, which is a bad idea on a Core 2 Duo anyway, so it should be okay :D

If you can still get El Capitan from the app store, upgrade to that first. After that's done, you can upgrade to Sierra or High Sierra through the app store as well.
in app store the "Get" button is not working.

Probably no longer available. I'm assuming you haven't installed it through the app store on any other machines in the past? It would be possible to download it still through the purchased section in the app store.
If all else fails, grab the installer from dosdude1 dot com.

Yes, high sierra is the latest you can run on it. Mojave will not be supported. You need to be running 10.8.5 or newer to upgrade to high sierra.
