Little tip from somebody thats been fitting product like this for years. Once you put the slime in, quickly blow air in the valve before refitting the core. The core can sometimes get stuck due to slime on the threads.
This…
Nice tip... thanks! 👍
Former bicycle shop owner here in the US. I have used gallons of slime over the years and it works very well when you follow the rules in how to use it. The one big con of using it is that when you actually have to change the tube and tire it is incredibly messy. It is also corrosive to aluminum. But it works amazingly well on small punctures.
Great stuff and thanks for the info! 👍
Grate video Mark short and sweet grate to see the videos coming out more regularly keep up the grate work love watching them
Thanks heaps mate! 👍
Gets ya out of trouble in a pinch(no pun intended)
Oh I think there was! 🤣
G'day mark another great video mate keep up your awesome work you do cheers for sharing your content ledgend 👍👌🥃
My pleasure Nathan 👍
Thanks, Mark. I also ride a DR650 with 606s. Your last two videos have been great, giving me options I didn’t know I had!
Thanks mate and great to hear! 👍
Great vid, Mark. I've used it for years in my Tubliss installs on my dirt bikes. I'm also running it in my scrambler wheels (which I have converted to tubelss via the tape/permatex method). An added benefit of slime or similar products, is the natural ability of a fluid within a rotating mass to balance the wheel. Great for a smooth ride!
G'day Tori, well fuck me if you're using it... it must be bloody good! [Not said sarcasticly]. That's a great bonus for balancing the wheel 👍
Put this product in a harvester tyre 35 years ago and that tyre stayed up for years , great for getting you out of trouble.
Good Onya mate! 👍
I always wondered if this would work. Great test Mark!
Thanks Bill 👍
been running slime in my postie tyres for years and never had a flat since... good stuff that ;)
Good Onya John! 👍
Hello; Thanks Mark, I have always thought about that stuff, nice to know it does work, yes limitation but good to have David....Adelaide/Kilburn....Triumph Street Scrambler.....
Good Onya David! 👍
I use similar stuff in my road bicycle😎 tube tyres in inner city commuting as a prevention -its already in there-and have had only one flat in 2 years, which is pretty good for a pushie on city roads covered in grit n shit.
I put it in my XL 185 honda years ago and it block e d up the valve and caused quite a headache, so ive kept it out of my motorbikes .
That stuff works, I've been running the Tubeless specific Slime in my 890 R for 2 years now and, touch wood, I've never had a problem. It also has no effect on the handleing even at speeds way above the speed limit.
Great to hear... thanks! 👍
Good video Mark,..thanks.. I'm not sure you remember but a while ago I was watching one of your Podcasts and Angus had mentioned that he had run True blue puncture goo in one of his bikes as a precaution for years. Would this be a similar product to the slime you just showed in this video?
Yes! 👍
Nice to see your clip again. It is long time no see.
Thank You! 👍
Good test Mark. Always wondered if this actually worked. Curious to see the tube when you replace the Tyre how big the pinch was. Will start to carry one, Cheers 🍻
G'day Dan, yeah I will make sure I video it when I change it! 👍
Damn right it worked! FortNine did a whole comparison video looking for the best sealant. They all worked well, but Sahara won overall so I run that in both of my tires on my WR250R. I am confident that if I do pick up something it will get me home, and I always carry a pump regardless. Fixing a flat on the side of the trail is no fun for sure.
👍
Sahara works good as a preventative too..., Use it on my Himalayan
D 605s.., Good video... thanks
Great to hear and thanks! 👍
to funny Mark . i did this yesterday on my dirt bike's all ways works on the trailers i have its good stuff can be a mess wen fiting new rubber tho. cheers guy nex door.
I don't care about the mess if it gets me out of trouble... simply and easily! 👍
I think the idea is to put in in beforehand as a preventative measure.
I guess doing it afterwards though lets you know that you have a puncture, which can be easily fixed on the trail, then swapped out when you get home and have the tools etc.
I think I’m going to get some though.
Yeah I like to know if I get a puncture, but each to there own. No wrong or right. 👍
It looks like an old army bike neat
Stuff works great ,but best to put it in before you get a flat 😊
👍
Currently dealing with a front tire leak. Considering using this first before I change out the tube. Front tire any wobble?
I recommend slime in tubeless systems only, because the presence of slime makes roadside tube patch repairs near impossible. Messes with with vulcanising process. The milky tyre sealants (e.g. Stan's) can be used in tybes too. The milky sludge sealants seemed to perform better than the slimes in sealing too, although this was not scientifically tested. My learnings are from MTB flats in Africa, where the bush has thorns everywhere. We experimented with different sealants, tybes, tube liners, tubeless etc.
👍
It is well used here in Western Australia with mountain bikes cause of big thorns called double G's
👍
So in a pinch? Slime it! getting screwed from both sides? Slime it! Getting nailed from behind? Slime it! Got it!😮
I used to use slime in my bicycle tires way back to the 90's, it worked.
Slime is meant as a preventative measure you put a pre-measured amount in and then as the saying goes "good to go"
Getting a puncture out of the middle of nowhere becomes a minor issue instead of a ride stopping event.
LOL tire fitters and tire sealants love to hate the stuff Slime in a tube is not as bad as a tubeless tire where someone put in the fix a flat can sealant, that tends to make them a little grumpy but with today's new car that come with only a can of goo and a inflator its more common.
I still laugh at bicycles, some of them can be fitted with tubeless tires only it requires a sealant to make it work, sometimes if you get a puncture or tear in the tire the sealant leaks out, some bicycle riders carry a tube to fix that problem.
I still ride a bicycle and I stick with the old tube and tire combo and I carry a spare tube along with patches and CO2 cartridges just in case.
I carry more stuff to fix my bicycle than I do my on Motorcycle. 🤣
Nice! 👍
From experience it is usually the tube that rips or is pinched.
I think you were lucky it worked. Slime usually works on centrifugal force, pinch flats usually happen on the sidewall or the inside edge
👍
Use a tube
Slime it as a preventative measure.
What about when it comes to changing the tube that has Slime in it... I heard that no tyre fitter would be happy to work on changing this tube that has the slime in it.
So?
When you get a new tyre, get a new tube, cheap at the price.
Let the tyre fitter know before hand, he simply bins the tube.
No problem.
The problem is when people don't let the Tyre fitter know!
It works but makes a mess when changing tyres a lot of bike shops won’t touch a bike with that stuff in it
Be careful of listning to the internet... things get pushed out of proportion! 👍
@@BikerBits I only said that because it happened to me but that slime great if you’re in a bit of a jam out woop woop
Is this a permanent fix.
It's a tricky question! It can be, but if I know my MOTORCYCLE tube has a punture I'm going to change it. Angus runs True Blue Punture Goo which is similar but he puts it in before he gets the punture. So he may get a punture but not even know about it. He has be doing this for years.
Think we're I live if you use this the tire fitter would kick your ass
Where i live we change our own tires
Makes some mess when you go to change tyres
Yeah but you got home with little fuss! 😀👍
it fucks the tyre up not that you listen anyway only if your a crew member. that not what the motorcycle community is about.
That's not true at all. If you contributed to the community in stead of just saying Stop Swearing, you might get listened to!
look up what a moose is. it goes in place of the tube you never get a flat
Yes but they are not for regular riding!
