Not a bad list! I visited this weekend and I always just fall in love with this lineup and I think Goliath is very slept on for how much it packs into that short duration
I went in hearing how butter smooth Viper is, but it still stunned me the first time I rode it with how smooth it truly was. Absolutely well taken care of and I feel is one of the numerous really solid coasters giving this park some really deceptive depth in their lineup. The best part by far was the fact it was always a station wait due to the length of the queue line you need to walk, so I ended up getting like four rides in. It took so little time I still had plenty of time to ride everything I felt like I needed to and even got a couple more re-rides on Goliath and Raging Bull.
It is B A D this year, unfortunately, but nothing some off-season work can't fix. It's screaming around the turnarounds and it's rougher than Demon. TLC please. AE needs to go though.
My home wooden coaster is Ghost Rider so Viper automatically had an unfair disadvantage but it was smooth. The layout was not great but it was pretty enjoyable.
@@domenichughes7792 I rode American Eagle today and holy shit, i forgot how rough it is lol. and yeah the decaying paint job is looking worse and worse each year haha i feel old remembering when AE and Batman were the top rides at this park lol. Giant Drop too for a while, although that's not a coaster haha
@@skippythealien9627 I'm still a sucker for giant drop--the gut punch is unmatched. I make all my friends do it after they inevitably make me walk my ass all the way to AE
Hey Marc! Was waiting for this video! Great list, living for the Raging Bull love. I’m so glad you liked the back row, that first drop always catches me off guard. 😅
I would lit their hatman above x flight for sure. So intense. Such amazing sense of speed. Great terrain and foliage. So glad you made it to great america. Loved watching this!
Have you had the chance to do back seat on Goliath too? That was my favorite experience on any coaster so far, including back seat Raging Bull… but I am in dire need of trying more RMCs!
Last summer, my friend took me to Six Flags and it was my first time going on a roller coaster. I was terrified enough already, but then he took me to raging bowl to be my first ever roller coaster. I’m so glad he did that because though I was terrified at first, it was one of the most fun things I had done up until that point.
I grew up going to SFGAm, but didn't visit from 2000 to 2021 - and wow, when I came back with my own kiddos it was like a new park!! That gut punch on Maxx Force is now my favorite launch of any running coaster (TTD had the title, because even though it was slightly less forceful than Maxx, that 3.5-4 seconds of sustained punching power made me enjoy it more than the Maxx launch). Gotta check out Excelerator if it ever reopens. American Eagle was my first "adult" roller coaster. Demon was my first ever inversion. Shockwave was my first ever "tallest roller coaster in the world" credit (surpassed by Magnum XL-200). Iron Wolf was my first ever standing coaster (and the reason I skip them when I encounter them today). Batman was my first B&M invert. The list goes on. And Whizzer is just plain good fun. My kids and I came up with basically the identical ranking you did - though we didn't get on everything due to weather and a late arrival to the gate. 1) Goliath 2) Maxx 3) Raging Bull 4) Superman 5) X Flight 6) Batman (I had this above Superman myself) We missed out on Eagle, Viper, Demon, Dark Knight, Whizzer, and kiddie/family coasters. Would have been great to come back another day and get rerides on Goliath and Maxx Force - I could marathon MF!
My family absolutely loves the whizzer! My sister especially because she had cerebral palsy and she can’t go on all that many rides, because either they don’t have enough space for her legs, or it goes upside down. But considering that the whizzer had a single file line seating and only goes from side to side at times, it’s honestly the most perfect ride for her. Also the employees at six flags are a huge help when it comes to getting her into the rides.
Searching for a Maxx Force shirt last week I encountered one that had almost every step wrong printed on the front of the shirt. It listed the max height at 125 ft, speed at 65 mph, and 5400 ft of track give or take. There was something else wrong too but I don't remember what it was. I brought it to the attention of the person working the store and I'm sure absolutely nothing happened lol. I should have bought one. If I can get back up there in the next week or so while they still have some I will.
This is my home park and I’ve been going here for years ever since I was around 9 years old. Truly one of the most well rounded coasters lineups even without that true top 25, stand out crazy coaster in my opinion. I will be going off to college in Ohio this upcoming fall and Kings Island will be my new “home park”, but I will always call this park home. Also, I think a large scale RMC raptor like jersey devil would be an amazing fit for great America if they remove American eagle. Perfect long and skinny plot of land for one 👍
Six Flags Great Am is my home park too! i didn't really appreciate it until i realized just how unique and diverse the coaster lineup here is. and they have some good flat rides too when you're like me and you want to wind down the day after riding everything lol But man Kings Island. if you haven't been there yet, i totally recommend it. Such a great park!
Great Countdown and very spot on. SFGA has a dope line-up of coasters - very short rides on the steel coasters, but they use the time and space well. I love Winged Coasters more than the average bear. It's cool that they use an airport theme with Chicago having one of the busiest airports in America., maybe the world. Variety-wise, this park might be one of the most diverse and I love it It's got something for everyone and if you are a credit collector, this is a perfect park to get some variety. Well done vid!
The massive scale of Eagle has hurt it in recent years. Hopefully Ceder Fare takes a couple seasons to renovate rather than rMC the coaster. IT used to race red side backwards and blue side forwards, but on about 2011 they noticed cracks in the wood that caused siz flags to shut it down and ultimately chose to close one lane a season rather than pay for much needed renovations. GA in Illinois is actually where a lot of new designers tested their products.
Thanks for putting Goliath at number one in my opinion that is one of the most underrated RMCs in the world Plus in my opinion I love raging Bull it is the most underrated hyper coaster by B&M It has an amazing first drop which is in my opinion the best drop ever on any coaster it has some pretty good airtime moments and I love the twister sections so yeah thanks a lot dude
As this is my home park, even though I’m like 45 minutes away from it, it is amazing (probably because I have never been to any other park besides cedar point when I was too young to remember) hi
My favorite roller coaster there is Maxx Force, followed by Goliath, Raging Bull, X Flight, American Eagle, Whizzer, Superman: Ultimate Flight, Viper, Batman: The Ride, The Flash: Vertical Velocity, The Dark Knight Coaster, The Joker, and Demon.
Always great content Marc! I'm staunchly anti-consumerism and ergo do not care about money, but your vids inspire me to get my shit together so I can afford to go on trips to the parks with elite coasters.
I recently had the privilege to go to the amazing Six Flags Great America. Out of the 10 coasters I rode, here is my ranking. 1. Goliath 2. Maxx Force 3. Raging Bull 4. X-Flight 5. Batman 6. Superman Ultimate Flight 7. Flash Vertical Velocity 8.Viper 9. The Whizzer 10. The Dark Night This park is an above average Six flags park and K really enjoyed it! I hope you had as much fun as I did!
I have Viper at 4 in the park, I wasn't so impressed with Superman, and Batman is well, a batman, great but you know what's coming. And X flight is fun but not as good. Viper's first half isn't great, but the second half is such a great intense air time filled ride through the structure. And avoiding a wheel seat, it's not that rough. Raging Bull is my number 1 at the park and my number 4 overall. Call me crazy, but when I rode Diamondback, the only other b&m hyper I've done, the airtime hills felt so samey. Raging Bull provides a good variety of elements that I really enjoyed.
Six Flags Great Am is my home park so I feel super guilty saying this but i honestly would put Diamondback AND Candymonium ahead of Raging Bull hahaha. I think i just love the theming and smoothness of both of those over Bull, which I acknowledge isn't fair since Bull is literally a decade older than Diamondback and more than 20 years older than Candymonium Raging Bull is still a great ride though. Definitely the best coaster in the park. Goliath is good too but it's just way too short
Mine are: 1. Raging Bull 2. Superman ultimate flight 3. X Flight 4. Maxx Force 5. The joker free fly coaster 6. Whizzer 7. Goliath 8. The dark knight coaster 9. Sprocket rockets 10. Little dipper 11. The flash vertical velocity 12. Batman the ride 13. Viper 14. American Eagle
Growing up in Milwaukee, I was at Great America dozens of times. Haven't been in a long time, but it seems that Maxx Force is a knockoff of the old Tidal Wave coaster, which was awesome. Tidal Wave catapulted you via a weight drop system whereas Maxx Force is pneumatic. Whizzer is still a classic, and Demon is underrated. I may need to get up there for a visit. Thanks for the overview of these though--well done!
Just got to ride most of these a couple weeks ago. I had no idea this Batman was the first EVER coaster of its type! All the others I’ve been on… all the ones I’ve built in RCT… I had no this was the original! Not my favorite, but now knowing this I have to say it holds up amazingly well considering how much it has been iterated upon.
I worked there from 1990-1992, Z-Force, then Iron wolf stood where Goliath is today. Tidal wave opened in 1978 and was replaced by Batman. Shockwave opened in 1988 and was replaced by Superman. Deja Vu operated from 2001-2007
Here’s my list: 1. Maxx Force 2. Goliath 3. American Eagle 4. Batman 5. Superman 6. V2 7. X-Flight 8. Whizzer 9. Viper 10. Demon 11. Raging Bull (my rides had no airtime, even from the very back row with a ton of room on a very hot summer evening, so I was severely disappointed) 12. Dark Knight 13. Little Dipper 14. Sprocket Rockets 15. Joker
@@CoasterDash back row was the most disappointing coaster ride I’ve had, and I found the front to be identical, and you always hear about how bad front row on Bull is.
I'm a frequent visitor at Six Flags Great America. Here's my current list ranking my top coasters. 1) Batman 2) Raging Bull 3) X-Flight 4) Goliath 5) American Eagle 6) Maxx Force 7) Viper 8) Superman 9) The Flash 10) Whizzer
i don't know if it was because it was the second proper roller coaster i rode, but viper banged the heck out of my neck, it was not smooth for my experience lol.
As on OG, having gone to the opening summer in 1976, Six Flag is a blast. We used to have Season passes, so we just rode the favorites. When I travel back and forth to Chicago, I’m like there she is, there’s the Eagle. I need to try and fit that in next summer, that new coaster looks amazing. Oh right, Marriott’s Great America, I had to google the old name.
If you're old school, then you remember the SHOCK WAVE, which would put nearly all these to shame, bar maybe goliath and max force. I've been on many coasters across states, and none gave that feeling of "the world going dark im about to pass out" that its loops did after the first drop.
I wanted to like Viper more than I did, being a heavier guy 190ish lbs with some back problems theres one moment of compression after a airtime hill that feels like it mustve been repaired at some point because it is a very sharp jolting spot. Aside from that I absolutely loved how unexpectingly good it was.
In my opinion I’d prefer goliath just slightly more than raging Bull because it’s more of a whippy and fast paced layout compared to raging Bull but I still really do like raging Bull
@@DaveysWonderfulWorld I think it is really hampered by it's length. If it was an element or two longer I would probably have it at #1. It's definitely a great ride but it is #9 out of the 11 RMCs I've done. Similar issue with Maxx Force. Bull was running basically untrimmed when I went and it has a long complete layout so I rank it in first place
@@solarwinds5114 yea true but I think for me that’s more of like a minor nitpick for me because people rave about storm chaser at Kentucky kingdom and rave about its layout and elements even though it is a short ride I feel like people just can’t make up their mind but that’s just my opinion so that’s why I love fast and whippy roller coasters
9:23 Doubt anyone will see this but I rode back row for my first ride, and I was lightheaded by the end, it’s my #3 at the park, Ik it’s a clone but it’s the only Batman clone I’ve ridden so it’s more unique for me
With this as my home park, I think goliath is overrated. It’s a short and slightly rough ride and honestly it’s 4 great moments just aren’t nearly enough. The same could be said for maxx force but I think that ride packs a bigger punch than goliath. Raging bull is the full package and no coaster there will ever top it
When Superman came out I waited 2 hours in line and when I was about 5 minutes from getting on I had to poop (Taco bell if memory serves)... Maybe some other rides I could hold it but not Superman, glad I ran because it was a photo finish. 🤣
went to great america for the first time recently- i think x flight was a great ride, but i’m almost scared to get on it again because of the harness. when i originally pulled it down it felt fine, but after the ride was over & while waiting to be let off, it ended up being so tight i could barely breathe & it was digging into my collar & hipbones badly. it took every ounce of self control i had to stay calm with my body being squeezed so tight- does that always happen??
this being my home park my rankings go 1:maxx force 2:goliath 3: american eagle left side 4: batman 5:raging bull 6: vertial velocity 7: joker 8: xflight 9: viper 10: superman 11: demon
Unpopular opinion here apparently: Batman at great america is not smooth at all, and will leave you with a sore neck and shoulders (Although nothing compared to the now retired IRON WOLF. Viper is underrated here, probably one of the best wooden coasters (non hybrid) in the country. Great ride, great theming, great experience.
Agreed. I was in the second row, and I can’t imagine how I would’ve felt if I was in the back. I probably would have had to sit out some of the coasters for the rest of the day. But I am a bit sensitive to tight turns and getting my head up. Easy nausea for me. I’m glad it was that close to the front because the back would have been worse, and I might’ve missed going on Goliath, which was my first RMC and definitely my favorite coaster at the park.
@@Bryk-in9hjyeah for me the first time it was fairly smooth and the second time I got knocked around like crazy. Probably is the seat you choose though.
I haven't been since 2012... That being said... American Eagle was run down and they clearly didn't do any significant maintenance or take care of the ride... this was true when I went there 10 years before that as well.. and I doubt it's changed. Shockwave was a great ride back in the day and was sadden it was removed. TBH, I'd rather ride Shockwave than that Superman flying coaster. Flying coaster is not my thing. X-Flight I rode opening season... at the time it was pretty cool as I think it was one of the first wing coasters. I think Gatekeeper and Thunderbird are better. Raging Bull is fantastic. Viper is great. My memories of this park though, and I used to go here all the time decades ago... was that they didn't maintain their rides as well as King's Island or Cedar Point. When I returned in 2012 I didn't get a different vibe. American Eagle is a beautiful ride, but I really feel it's likely so far gone they need to do something else.
Your lucky that demon was closed, yes it was cool and all with the theming but my god, demon was one of the roughest coaster I’ve ever been on, constantly my head was banging back and forth on the uncomfortable head rest and shoulder rests.
Actually "Demon" came several years after (then) Marriott's Great America opened in 1976. The original ride was called "The Turn of the Century", and it featured just the two corkscrews. The additional 2 loops / theming was added in 1980 or thereabouts, I forget after all these years. lol. Anyway The Wizard is the only coaster still standing from Day 1 in '76... and back then it was called Willard's Wizard.
Agree with the vast majority of the list, although I would have to disagree with Max Force; I’d be more inclined to put it around 8-10. I feel as though the long wait time isn’t worth the amount of the time the ride lasts, and in my opinion, only the initial launch of the ride is good, which last about 1-3 seconds. Other than that, good list!
The rumors of eagle being removed has always been stupid because Illinois is planning on making it a national landmark and it’s too close to the highway but the land is basically useless to put a ride on so it is more financially beneficial to keep the right and fix it then it is to remove it
@@CoasterDash If it does the state would actually help pay for renovations if it was damaged by say lightning and you missed Tsunami in the ranking or was that because you saw water coaster which is actually completely understandable
We found X-Flight this year less shaky than Batman, my rankings: Raging Bull, Superman, X-Flight, Max Force, Goliath. Goliath was my most highly anticipated and most disappointing.
Just rode Maxx Force and Xflight (front row outside )for the first time last weekend. The launch in Maxx Force is crazy fun and the X-Flight was really fun. The joker beat the absolute dog crap outta me worse than the Shockwave used to 😂😂😂 these are opinions and not facts.

I think i just love the theming and smoothness of both of those over Bull, which I acknowledge isn't fair since Bull is literally a decade older than Diamondback and more than 20 years older than Candymonium
Raging Bull is still a great ride though. Definitely the best coaster in the park. Goliath is good too but it's just way too short
Mine are:
1. Raging Bull
2. Superman ultimate flight
3. X Flight
4. Maxx Force
5. The joker free fly coaster
6. Whizzer
7. Goliath
8. The dark knight coaster
9. Sprocket rockets
10. Little dipper
11. The flash vertical velocity
12. Batman the ride
13. Viper
I went on this ride yesterday and it was fun
Love the smg ost in these last videos
I’d you liked that, you should listen to Air Force one by odd eye circle, and the whole EP “Version Up”!!
Deja Vu operated from 2001-2007
I loved Dejavu! Really unique for it's time and I wish it was still there. Not Iron Wolf though. That was concussions and nausea
Here’s my list:
1. Maxx Force
2. Goliath
3. American Eagle
4. Batman
5. Superman
6. V2
7. X-Flight
8. Whizzer
9. Viper
10. Demon
11. Raging Bull (my rides had no airtime, even from the very back row with a ton of room on a very hot summer evening, so I was severely disappointed)
12. Dark Knight
13. Little Dipper
14. Sprocket Rockets
15. Joker
Interesting to hear that about Raging Bull, but I can see how it might be inconsistent
@@CoasterDash back row was the most disappointing coaster ride I’ve had, and I found the front to be identical, and you always hear about how bad front row on Bull is.

I'm a frequent visitor at Six Flags Great America. Here's my current list ranking my top coasters.
1) Batman
2) Raging Bull
3) X-Flight
4) Goliath
5) American Eagle
6) Maxx Force
7) Viper
8) Superman
9) The Flash
10) Whizzer
Xflight is smooth I promise. I did it today for the first time and I was on the outside I thought I was going to get hit😂😂😂
i don't know if it was because it was the second proper roller coaster i rode, but viper banged the heck out of my neck, it was not smooth for my experience lol.
I would say:
1) Raging Bull
2) Goliath
3) Maxx Force
4) X Flight
5) Viper
6) American Eagle
7) Batman
8) Superman
9) Vertical Velocity
10) Demon
11) Whizzer
12) Dark Knight
13) Joker
14) Little Dipper
15) Sprocket Rockets
In my opinion I’d prefer goliath just slightly more than raging Bull because it’s more of a whippy and fast paced layout compared to raging Bull but I still really do like raging Bull
Great list!
@@solarwinds5114hi
Our Demon’s cooler than the California one. Sure, they have an active water feature, but we have a theme song
This is literally one of the silliest top fives you possible could've done. Putting maxx force above bull, x flight, superman, or batman is crazy
Shockwave is fire. RIP
Bring back Iron Wolf too
9:23 Doubt anyone will see this but I rode back row for my first ride, and I was lightheaded by the end, it’s my #3 at the park, Ik it’s a clone but it’s the only Batman clone I’ve ridden so it’s more unique for me
With this as my home park, I think goliath is overrated. It’s a short and slightly rough ride and honestly it’s 4 great moments just aren’t nearly enough. The same could be said for maxx force but I think that ride packs a bigger punch than goliath. Raging bull is the full package and no coaster there will ever top it
For eagle, Batman, demon they should take it down and build it back up with the same layout
When Superman came out I waited 2 hours in line and when I was about 5 minutes from getting on I had to poop (Taco bell if memory serves)...
Maybe some other rides I could hold it but not Superman, glad I ran because it was a photo finish. 🤣
So when's that first episode of the Europe trip 👀
That’s coming next! 🙌🏻
went to great america for the first time recently- i think x flight was a great ride, but i’m almost scared to get on it again because of the harness. when i originally pulled it down it felt fine, but after the ride was over & while waiting to be let off, it ended up being so tight i could barely breathe & it was digging into my collar & hipbones badly. it took every ounce of self control i had to stay calm with my body being squeezed so tight- does that always happen??
My childhood park
The batman ride has the almost the same layout as the banshee from kings island
I like the Mario background music, brings me back to the good days
this being my home park my rankings go 1:maxx force 2:goliath 3: american eagle left side 4: batman 5:raging bull 6: vertial velocity 7: joker 8: xflight 9: viper 10: superman 11: demon
raging bull is the best ride for the thrill and how long it is
Unpopular opinion here apparently: Batman at great america is not smooth at all, and will leave you with a sore neck and shoulders (Although nothing compared to the now retired IRON WOLF.
Idk for me every time I visit Batman is either a ruff coaster or a very smooth coaster
Nice vid
Thank you!
Front row max force next time you can man its amazing, that is if you didn't go in the front
New ride!
RMC 🇺🇲🦅
I’m a huge Viper fanboy, I’m in the minority who likes it more than Goliath.
IMO whizzer and joker are more fun than vertical velocity
I Think demon is the most classic coaster in the Park
Agree with the vast majority of the list, although I would have to disagree with Max Force; I’d be more inclined to put it around 8-10. I feel as though the long wait time isn’t worth the amount of the time the ride lasts, and in my opinion, only the initial launch of the ride is good, which last about 1-3 seconds. Other than that, good list!
Wait is this a re upload?
Nope
@@CoasterDash Huh I guess I saw it in a dream then, weird.
I miss SHOCKWAVE. Alot of ppl complaining about whiplash.
Did anyone else see something fall out of the ride at 13:07
I think you went at a bad time because X-flight is really smooth 11:17
I wrote Superman and that pitch black one!
The rumors of eagle being removed has always been stupid because Illinois is planning on making it a national landmark and it’s too close to the highway but the land is basically useless to put a ride on so it is more financially beneficial to keep the right and fix it then it is to remove it
That makes sense and it would be great news if it became a National Landmark!
@@CoasterDash If it does the state would actually help pay for renovations if it was damaged by say lightning and you missed Tsunami in the ranking or was that because you saw water coaster which is actually completely understandable
OH YEAH GOLAITH
I don’t take whizzer hate! It’s the best ride imo. I think it’s so fun even though it’s like a children’s ride. 💔
Today is my first day going to six flags
We found X-Flight this year less shaky than Batman, my rankings: Raging Bull, Superman, X-Flight, Max Force, Goliath. Goliath was my most highly anticipated and most disappointing.
Should have canned whizzed for shockwave having ridden both shockwave was 10x better
Viper as small as it is, it's deceptively ROUGH!
So we just gonna ignore the tree In super man?
Putting whizzer over demon is crazy
I like the list
Did you know some kid was killed on the Little Dipper
joker only at 10 is diabolical it’s top 5 for sure
Yeah we had our back facing away and it had us screaming lol
American eagle is great still but was better when you raced.
whizzer just cannot be over demon, thats ridiculous.
Yall remember iron wolf
Raging Bull not at #1 is a crime
